I swear I going to watch this series simply because of the Narrator's voice. From Skyrim to Shoddycast, I can't help be drawn to it. I hope they never replace him. ^_^
Love it. I watched your original elder scrolls lore videos. They only had you and pictures, but now you are able to make awesome documentaries with cool narrators and other things. I'm not saying that your previous old videos were bad, but that I'm amazed at how far you've come. Keep up the good work.
'Sentient' doesn't mean what you obviously think it means. Sentience is essentially the ability to feel or perceive, so most of the animals you dismissed as monsters are sentient. The word you may be looking for is 'sapient'.
Okay this is my first time watching any of ShoddyCast's stuff in a while... I can tell all of that Patreon money is being put to good use. Keep up the great work guys! Also... *MASS EFFECT LORE PLEASE*
Seeing lots of people arguing about whether this video is accurate to the story or not. This is why I hate Google Plus's comment system; it is highly broken. Back in the day, if people made a discussion that was a heated debate, it would have its run-time in the top comments section then disappear into the brink never to be seen again. It would be nice to see people at least try to get along rather than spend every minute that they don't spend watching an awesome video that follows standards that none of us could ever hope to meet nitpicking every little detail. Geez, guys, I hate to say it but quit nerding. You're ruining the show and making my popcorn taste bad with all of your negativity!
I agree about the new comment system being crappy. But yeah.. the lore series for the Witcher has been below their usual standards in terms of accuracy unfortunately :/
Is that... Nazir? Skyrim dark brotherhood character? Baddass choice for a narrator... I've never played witcher before, but this video makes it look seriously cool. Shoddy cast you continue to impress.
ok I'm going to go full nerd because I love the lore from the witcher even though I have never had a chance to read the books. the Kayran was not a beast dating back to the convergence of the spheres, but rather it as created as part of an experiment and was likely discarded when the experiment was over with. other than that, all golden.
I have a question. When the higher vampires are intelligent and act simmilar like humans AND when they are immortal, why dont you talk to one and ask him/her about the conjunction of the spheres? That would be the first Thing i would do if i would be in the witcher universe.
I've heard Witcher 3 will be like a whole new game with a HUGE open world like what you've probably played in the Elder Scrolls series...I guess there will be more info on many types of monsters and demons in the Witcher World, I hope. :p
yes. Watched 2 eps and most of information is confabulation or outright misinformation. Keyran origin was normal animal. Keyrans lived in such waters as flotsam but due to magical experiments of some mage this one in TW2 grew big as fuck. Keyran was not part of that plenar event. In opening chapter earlier he described scoiatel as elven force and assumed this is how elves fought with humans. This is far from actual information as you can get. Gnomes were original owners of that continent then came dwarves (unspecified from where or how) then elves on ivory boats (suggesting either plenar travel or different continent) and finally humans also on boats. Elves before humans didn't live in forests. They lived but most of them lived like humans in cities. They also fought wars with other races mostly dwarves. Most of human cities like oxenfurt, vizima and so on were in fact build on elven city ruins. Elves made a war with humans and lost. Final battle took most of their young and doomed their race more or less (because only young elven females could have children with other elves). Eiren of sharwed led them and they were massacred by humans. Later they moved to high mountains were they mostly starve and die of disease. Scoiatel was rebel group made by nilfgard and later they were sold to northern kings for scrap of land called Dol Blathana where elves created pupped nation under elven sorcerress Fransesca. Imo i love production values and voice but please people focus on actual information because this looks like you played TW1 and TW2 and hardly understand them
I really hate to say this, but what is the title of the track that begins at 3:00? I've heard it before and I know it's in the witcher 2 soundtrack but I have no idea what the name of the song is...
Please shoddycast dont take the what appears in the comment section as massive critic too harsly. The witcher has very loyal followers with their own ideas, not realising that information about lore on the witcher is hard to come by and some book vs game differences exist. These people are just very passionate about their game that is not always given the credit it should be.
I loved the first witcher and I was really excited about the second one, but my pc is crap and I can barely run it at 20 fps at 1680X720 resolution with minimum settings.... and its from 2012!!
Kinda hard to call it a lore video when you just describe a few monsters. Might have been a better idea to do overviews of the different types of monsters.
Ok, so we go again... this time you at least did your research, although it is strange why half the video is dedicated to the Kayran, which ist just some random creature without any real background. Wooden stakes WOULD work if used correctly, not to kill it(which of course doesn't work) but to permanently incapacitate it. And vampirism exists, you can be made into a vampire, although it never really happens.
I won't explain again why "chaosdriven power of magic" is bullshit, but let me at least mention it. AGAIN. Golems are bodies given "life" through magic. A necromancer for example creates golems and in the swamp of wyzima there was a golem guarding the tower. Elementals are beings living in the plane of magic, in the 5th dimension if you want to call it that. Yennefer once tried to capture an air elemental, which granted Geralt three wishes for freeing it, the final one regarding him and Yennefer in a way we will probably never know (unless Andrezj Sapkowski spits it out). UndeadCookieMonster They made a video that was supposed to be about the lore of the monsters of the Witcher universe. Not some halfbaked or wrong facts about some enemies from TW2 told in a way that would entertain people that don't give a shit if any of it's true.
LOL, this is clearly no where near as accurate, nor is it close to normal Shoddy standard. From what I gathered, there are three major categories of monsters: those from another space-time who came after the Conjunction of Spheres, and thus don't belong to this ecosystem, like kayran, necrophages, vampires and various weird creatures appeared later in the books; magically induced, both actively and passively, like golems, drowners, wraiths and of course strigas; and last but not least, naturally grown, like zeugl and giant centipedes. These categories are not exclusive, and the book didn't line up everything precisely, which made this video a little pointless. And btw, dragons are not monsters.

Good video, I say. Played it at 1.25x speed though, the pace was a little frustrating. Love the man's voice, love his emphasis, but the tempo was a little laborious.
story is great? graphics are great? have you ever played those games? I can agree, to some extent that there are some good characters in them, but none of the main characters is even remotely interesting. And that fucking main guy is so bland.
stazz316 Well the story HAS to be great if it has 7 novels behind it's back,it's grim and mature. For a game from 2011 it's fucking beautiful on Ultra settings. Geralt is the most interesting character I've seen, sure to a newbie in the series he's ''bland'' but not every character needs to be Nathan Drake or some other over the top good guy.The Witcher has a strict code that he keeps and does whatever he can to remain neutral. Again, for someone to truly appreciate how awesome the games are, they'd have to read the books which are equally awesome.
666Shinedown 7 shitty novels by the way. It's grim, it's mature (both seem forced as shit) but it's still shitty, dude. Witcher is the most overhyped series there is.
Each tentacle is as long as a fallen tree?? A fallen tree? Because all trees are the same standard length once they've fallen? Otherwise that measurement makes no sense.

Merry chrismas to you all :)
hope you guys have a great holiday brake. i was wondering if we will see any wow or swtor lore on your channel
Remember the early days of the lore series? I'm impressed on how far it has come :)
That sucks but it's entirely understandable, have a merry Christmas ShoddyCast crew and everyone else!
***** I think you can eat it.
It is incredible how much these lore series have evolved over the years!!! I still remember the when the first Elder Scrolls Lore video was released and it was just Josh narrating over a collection of pictures. Now you have none other than Erik Dellums narrating and the videos look so professional!! Truly amazing how far you guys have come!
The variety of monsters is what makes the Witcher a fascinating and wonderful universe for me to explore.
I swear I going to watch this series simply because of the Narrator's voice. From Skyrim to Shoddycast, I can't help be drawn to it. I hope they never replace him. ^_^
Don't forget fall out. It's 3 dog, right?
Brian Rodriguez I dunno, but I definitely love this channel.
Yeah its 3 dogs
Love it. I watched your original elder scrolls lore videos. They only had you and pictures, but now you are able to make awesome documentaries with cool narrators and other things. I'm not saying that your previous old videos were bad, but that I'm amazed at how far you've come. Keep up the good work.
Wait, why is a Redguard telling witcher lore? xD
Kuwakka yeah i want a kah jit
Kuwakka He traveled from Tamriel to the continent and found he liked it so much he stayed there until he died.
He sounds like nizir and the narrator from dragon prince.
He probably got Isekaid there.
@@kelvinsantiago7061 I now desire a Nazier Witcher Isakai anime immediately
This guy's voice is awesome! I want him to narrate EVERYTHING!
Nazir of the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim btw
and Three Dog from Fallout 3
3 Dog > Nazir
As soon as I heard the voiceover I thought of Nazir from Skyrim, googled the name of the narrator and it was him.
Oh my gawd Erik Todd Dellums!!!!! Yes thank you so much spiffy cast you know what your fans love!!!
This is a freaking great lore series! Y'all have a great Christmas!
I like how you speak very steady, for people like me who doesn't undestand well english, can comprehend
I should just cut and paste but I will say it again... HOLY CRAP! This was fantastic. A standalone contribution to the wonderful world of the Witcher!
>Just finished reading all Witcher books
>Go to TH-cam
>Witcher video by ShoddyCast pop up
Yessss
Lovecraft's influence is in literally every fantasy.
'Sentient' doesn't mean what you obviously think it means. Sentience is essentially the ability to feel or perceive, so most of the animals you dismissed as monsters are sentient. The word you may be looking for is 'sapient'.

Bart the Troll will forever be my hero... for coining the phrase "Turdy Dump"....

THIS IS SO GOOD. And the voice is perfect.
What a great commentary, one of the best voices iv heard. You could easily do voice acting, book reading :)
...video is better played at 1.25 speed.
+Gandalf the White lmao great suggestion
+Gandalf the White THANK YOU! It even feels slow at 1.25! XD
+Gandalf the White Huh, one instance where the speed function is useful for more than just shits and giggles.
+Gandalf the White I've been watching them all on 1.5
+Gandalf the White No .5 is certainly better.
These videos are freaking baddass, thank you for uploading them!
You guys are getting a lot of debate due to book lore, but I'm glad you guys are giving this series some attention.
Been waiting for this! ♥ love ya Shoddy!♥
love it, amazing video editing and voice support. Great job guys!
Erik Todd Dellums is perfect for this
5:39 - "Shit... The Dawnguard are coming again... and Isran's back!"
Please do more of this, witcher lore is amazing
How would a witcher do if he were to get a contract to kill Harkon.
ProfessorCrooks Depends on the Witcher, but If it was one that knew what they were doing, I would say pretty well.
Absolutely love how you got Tyreal from Diablo 3 to voice this over
ok I'm going to go full nerd because I love the lore from the witcher even though I have never had a chance to read the books. the Kayran was not a beast dating back to the convergence of the spheres, but rather it as created as part of an experiment and was likely discarded when the experiment was over with. other than that, all golden.
I think I need to get one of these game thank you shoddycast for introducing me to a new game series ps Love Yalls show
Wasn't Keiran the effect of magical experiment? I recall Triss saying something like this.
Slavic Mythology is very underrated and interesting 👍
I have a question. When the higher vampires are intelligent and act simmilar like humans AND when they are immortal, why dont you talk to one and ask him/her about the conjunction of the spheres? That would be the first Thing i would do if i would be in the witcher universe.
The first thing i'd do in the witcher universe is spread Yennifer's cheeks
Hey ShoddyCast another great video! How do you do the affect where Geralt looks like a 3D object even though its a 2d picture?
Technically guys, you started a book lore series :P Kudos, +1 for us fantasy geeks AND gamers.
Amazing video guys, keep up the good work!!
umm wasn't the karyan normal sized until some kinda magic morphed it??
yes actually it is a little detail in witcher 2
I've heard Witcher 3 will be like a whole new game with a HUGE open world like what you've probably played in the Elder Scrolls series...I guess there will be more info on many types of monsters and demons in the Witcher World, I hope. :p

That's what is speculated. We never actually know.
Nice, enjoying this Witcher Lore series
Can someone PLEASE tell me the song/music that starts at 8:10?
Thank you!
woohoo, Witcher lore
Thx Shoddycast, I have my christmass present from you
I really hate to say this, but what is the title of the track that begins at 3:00? I've heard it before and I know it's in the witcher 2 soundtrack but I have no idea what the name of the song is...
It's Darude - Sandstorm ofc
kingalberich "Vergen by night"
thankk youuu
When does this normally update anyone know? If so please also include your timezone. Thank You in advance.
Do they sell the witcher 1 and 2 together? I'd love to have it in a bundle.
YES! Moar Witcher. MOAR
Great guys, keep em coming!
Keep up the good work guys!
@shoddycast is that Eric Todd Dellums? (Three dogg)
Great to get a lesson on the Witcher Lore by Ember spirit :D
This is beyond amazing
Three dog! Bow wow!
What's that soundtrack at 8:10
Thank you so much for doing this!
I could use more reading material, does anyone know if the original book/s are any good??
nazir?
yup
Good episode!
I cant wait till you cover The Hunt.
ShoddyCast would you please do a Metal Gear Solid lore series when you are finished with another series?
Am I the only one picturing Nazir form the Dark Brotherhood reading this to me
Can you please do the lore for Dark Souls, it seems very hard to follow, and you may help many understand.
Keep it up guys!
Awwww yiss, Nazir
Damn.....Lucian as narrator. awesome!
Imagine if the Witcher and the Lovecraft mythos were in the same universe.
Very good :) Thank you
Kinda hard to call it a lore video when you just describe a few monsters. Might have been a better idea to do overviews of the different types of monsters.
Remember to keep you face straight when watching this, you don't want your face to get stolen by the voice of Koh, the face stealer.
Any contracts?
Ok, so we go again... this time you at least did your research, although it is strange why half the video is dedicated to the Kayran, which ist just some random creature without any real background. Well, let's get started:
ALL higher vampires drink blood for the intoxicating effect. There are but a few who decide to stop doing it and only one we know of.
What we see in TW2 is pretty confusing, but let me simplify it: Aside from the one earth elemental you fight when opening Philippa's secret chest all others you fight are golems, probably inhabited and driven by an elemental, but they are golems. The yellow bands with script on it suggest that it might be the same one every time, each time the same elemental being sent by Philippa or Sheala to do their bidding.
Well, fuck. This time the errors were far fewer, mainly because big parts of this video didn't talk about anything important.
Some rumors and gossip about the Kayran, that is open to interpretation...
As expected the rest was splattered with errors, not the least of which is, that you only covered TWO GODDAMN races.
And even those only got some basic knowledge, the others were just mentioned with a name that MIGHT mean them.
The far more common monsters didn't even get a mention at all, they were just brushed away with the mention of one specific type that appears once. Most didn't even get that.
"The Monsters" should contain an overall view of ALL the monsters, not some half baked facts about bosses from one game. You didn't even mention the actually important bosses.
It would've been possible to cover most of them with the topics you used, but that would require you to actually mention where there are other subspecies or which species they are part of. And even then you didn't cover a big chunk of the common monsters.
***** How about you make your own video, you ignorant little shit? It takes enough time to edit a video itself but to research and put it into an organized format. If they just pumped example after example in a 30 minute video, it would be very unorganized and not very entertaining.
UndeadCookieMonster Besides, who the fuck cares about the books. They're doing lore on the games. You could at least make legitimate reasons to criticize the game when you have no idea what you are talking about.

And btw, dragons are not monsters.
...Dragon are monsters. They're definitely not animals.
UndeadCookieMonster do I have to remind you again that it is within the witcher univese's context?
Helmstif, the Sarcastic Asianman 'remind you again' When did you remind me in the first place?
Even if it's within the context of THIS game, you could use the same logic about bears. If it was stated that bears were monsters in the game, does that make them monsters? No. They're still animals. Humans are stated as being monsters at times but it's used metaphorically, humans aren't actually monsters.
In any case, wyverns are considered monsters in the first game at the very least ( check the codex in the game, silver is also the useful weapon against them ) and wyverns are commonly known as 'cousins' to dragons and drakes.
UndeadCookieMonster
Let's just say that to witchers dragons are not considered as monsters. Or at least they are not to be hunted as they are sentient (as opposed to wyverns which are just "wild beast").
Aelelisevar There ARE sentient monsters in the lore, though.
Awesome video. heres a like :)
Good video, I say. Played it at 1.25x speed though, the pace was a little frustrating. Love the man's voice, love his emphasis, but the tempo was a little laborious.
Thank you! Legend
is this guy the voice actor for Nazir from skyrim?
Shoddy should work for Discovery Channel
What's the music at the end called?
Tough Times - The Witcher 2
Are the trolls from Witcher 2 different than the trolls in Witcher 3?
Talking about Higher Vampires and not mentioning one was friend of Gerlat. I'm a bit disappointed.
*SPOILER FOR THE BOOKS*
Regis is such a badass.
You guys should check out the MMO Black Dessert.
Coolest series ever
The voice of the Narrator reminds me of voice of Nazir from Skyrim
More of this, I beg you.
Nice!
now THIS IS LORE AND BADASS SHIT M8
Is this based off the books or the video games?
They took both into account
You can just tell he enjoys saying vampire, maybe he misses Babette.
Amazing.^^
Awesome
I love hearing fucking Three Dog narrate these.
wow those witcher games are bad
LOL!
Could you be as kind as to explain why?
Sure the gameplay isn't top notch but the story/characters/graphics are one of the best you'll see.
story is great? graphics are great? have you ever played those games? I can agree, to some extent that there are some good characters in them, but none of the main characters is even remotely interesting. And that fucking main guy is so bland.

PLEASE DO THIS BUT WITH ELDER SCROLLS
Each tentacle is as long as a fallen tree?? A fallen tree? Because all trees are the same standard length once they've fallen? Otherwise that measurement makes no sense.
I don't know if you know, but the whole Witcher's universe is invented by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
Yeah, but it's based on Polish folklore and Slavic Mythology 👍
God damn you guys got Three Dog
