Such a great entertainer. He's a talented player, understands how to make a statement with dynamics, and he can get down right funky groovy. He's exactly what other musicians desperately want for a killer jam session! ..it's not about the scales, technicality, or music theory.. it's simply doing exactly what needs done to make your ears happy, your soul excited, and to be able to walk away after a long night of live music feeling energized and optimistic. As you believe there was nothing more than a musician utilizing an instrument to convey their knowledge of music theory, scales, and rhythm.. I inferred feeling and emotion. Some of us understand a deeper meaning from music and hear the parts of music that go beyond what's written on a 5 line staff. Maybe it's just something that comes from years of experience.
