If these tricks were in a video game people would say the game was too unrealistic!
· Trick 1 - Backflip with barely a cliffhanger to tailwhip = It's usually quite easy to do 2-stunt combos in a backflip in a videogame
· Trick 2 - 720 tailwhip to bairspin (there's no "head lower than wheels" moment so it's just a regular spin) = Another very easy combo in a videogame. I used to do it in Dave Mirra Freestlye BMX 1 and in that game the tailwhips were really SLOW.
· Trick 3 - Single cork 1440 (one "head lower than wheels" moment) = It's doable nowadays in Riders Republic but you need more airtime in that game.
· Trick 4 - Single front cork 1080 tuck no-hander to bairspin = Very doable even in older videogames. In games, doing a trick usually barely hurts your rotational speed so you can keep the no-hander for several rotations.
· Trick 5 - 360 tailwhip to bairspin to tailwhip back = In Riders Republic you can probably do it with a 720 or even a 1080 instead.

They literally put Emil on 1 by default earlier in the full contest. That says a lot about these judges. Dawid obviously should have taken it home, but my personal favorite was Diego. That trick was so damn cool.

With a full run and several perfect tricks from emil it was hard to put him not at first. But for this i knew they will put im first, if he lands a decent trick.
Me and me friend thought the same as someone who watched it there without knowing anything about the sports.

In what other best trick competition would a clean backflip cliffhanger to tailwhip not finish podium?
Just 8 years ago a backflip barspin to cancan was the winning trick on this jump, now this. They all deserve medals but that 1440 isn’t any less crazy than it was last time he did it. To be spinning that fast and come out of it on 2 wheels is one of the most impressive things that’s ever been done in sports.

Emil looked more like a 360 than a backflip. At no point did I see the bike or him upside down 🤔

Emils Trick was intense, don't get me wrong. Still isn't halfway as crazy as what Dawid pulled. Shame he didn't get awarded Gold, which he clearly deserved for stomping that worlds first.
When did Emil do the backflip part of his trick? I must have missed it. Or do you no longer need to be upside down for it to be a backflip?
There was no backflip.
It was a 360. It was a dumped 360 though so the announcer mistook it for a backflip. Backflip tailwhips and Dumped 360 tailwhips look similar. Or it was just a misspeak.
I rewatched the clip 40 times and everytime I tried to see the backflip

I think Diego took that, but Nikolai and Dawid both were in contention. I can't say emil won that. I think it was handed to him, honestly. Sick combo, but there were sicker tricks.
By the way, Matt is a really nice expert commentator, give him a full-time job as one if he's not competing himself

Emil is just so flawless, sometimes doesnt look "amazing" but its judged on how "perfect" the tricks are done and hes spot on... everytime.

My best memories of this amazing event is when Nikolai pulled the 1440 if he pulls it again this is probably the only trick that will take Down Johanssons over the years he has been untouchable maybe This will be the only time in his career that he will come second for once lol

@@cairnserelli72 Yeah we had to wait five years but it was worth the wait yeah such a shame that Nikolai crashed but that’s how this Sport goes sometimes but Emil is on a different planet at the moment I don’t think it even Brandon Seminuk or Brett reader could take him down at the moment he’s an absolute amazing kid to watch he’s going to dominate this sport for the next 10 years without A doubt so all the Slope style rides might as well just retire now lol

Without a doubt, for this contest situation:
1st - Dawid
2nd - Nikolai
3rd/4th - Emil/Diego either order
1st and 2nd during a future contest could be a toss up but for this one it was a world's first and the 1440 wasn't. Not a chance 3 whip bar downwhip beats out a 1440 or a 1080 no hander to barspin. Sick trick without a doubt, but not at the level of difficulty as the Dawid's or Nikolai's tricks.

It is the most impressive. Judges overthinking it and trying to make Emil the designated face of the sport. 1440 and the 1080 bar to whip were by far the most impressive

It truly is amazing what all these riders do and make it look soo easy..yet soo very dangerous and extremely difficult..one thing goes wrong and it can be a life changer. We prop up all the other sports like football, basketball etc...yet they have no balls of steel like all riders out there!!...I've seen soo many bad crashes and they bounce rite back up and do it again over and over...the true honeybadgers!!!...they don't give a $hit lol!

Technicality is pretty high on both tricks
Quad combo. Spin whip bar whip
If you break it down it is:
Dawid: 720 Frontflip, Tuck No Hander, Barspin
Emil: 360, Tailwhip, Barspin, Opposite Tailwhip
Emil did way more technical tricks throughout and Dawid did a banger filled in with some easier/style tricks.
Emil also caught his handlebars with pure perfesction and landed immaculatley and graceful while Dawid had a couple faults on his hand/grip placement and he came down roughly and not perfectly straight.

I'm a bit conflicted with this Emil era of slope-style mtb, while I know his runs/tricks are extremely technical and deserve high marks....it's just much less visually appealing to an audience imo.

But right now i'm really annoyed by the judges. And it's really as you're saying. Nicoli gets put down a lot, for doing same thing for years, I don't know why they're not doing it for emil?

All of the other riders seem to agree that everything he’s doing is absolutely insane.
I agree that it’s not as visually appealing but there’s an insane technical difficulty that the judges and other riders appreciate.
I don’t think he should’ve won this though - absolutely top 3 but probably not 1st.
And I really hope he goes upside down & gives us a cork 7 in his district run
Bro they suck. It's insane the favoritism he gets while other riders are out here doing NBDs and huge spins. Emil cannot do those tricks, period. He can do a bunch of hard side downwhips and stuff but it's not cool at all
