A lot of people wondering why I didnt feature the HyperX Cloud II Headset in this video. Its because its a 'headset' not really a pure headphone. I love my Cloud II's to death but this video is only on pure headphones :) In fact, I have the Cloud II's lying on my desk in the video lol.
I'm surprised there wasn't thousands upon thousands of people that were upset that the Beats didn't make the list because the brainwashed Society of this world is just a bunch of Bing bam boom boom
+TekTick I would recommend getting the Brainwavz HM5 Pads. They are extremely comfortable and they fit on my M50's. This definitely improved the comfort as I can wear them for a longer period of time. Also they are only $20
VenomDesigns beats are not the best. I currently have solo 2. But my cushions are damaged. I wanted to get a Beyerdynamic, afterglow or the headphones that are listed in this video
+AllHokage yeah, I know, I mean, beats are great headphones, you know, they sound really good, but as you said, you can get something muuch better for that price or less
Your description details are always above and beyond - you blow all the other tech youtubers away in this regard. Between providing links for other marketplaces, etc. I appreciate the effort and I know others do as well. Keep up the hard work!
I couldn't be happier with my 598 SE's, the soundstage is incredible because of the open back and everything is so clear, the lack of noise cancellation isn't a problem since I have these for my computer and I would not recommend using them without an amp on a phone or something.
What are the best headphones for editing / listening (have got great sound quality and bass and stuff ...) but are also good for gaming ( have got good picturing ) within the range of 100-150?
My dad was a DJ his whole life. And I grew up with a true audiophile and when it comes to headphones... Sennheiser is always the way you should go for listening to music. Idk about gaming headphones, but for music, get some Sennheisers
+ImpireHJ Recommended both by "audiophiles" and gamers. If you want to save a few bucks Takstar Pro80s are just the headphones are basically the same thing just no mic and different color.
Mark B. The only beats that are good are the Beats Mixrs (kinda biased). They're the only Beats model that actually lasts instead of breaking at any time. They sound pretty great too
this video just make me feel a lot more comfortable about the hd 598 i ordered yesterday to greet me when i get back home on sunday after 16 weeks abroad looking forward to it
They are really good i added an antlion modmic to them but they have some things to look out for. There is really not that much base on them which is absutely fine if you listen to acoustic music or rock etc but not that good for edm. Its awesome for gaming and media consumption i cant really grade them for csgo though because i didnt play it a lot recently because i got reranked so low that i cant play without a 5ppl premate and i am playing a lot or rpgs lately but i enjoy them
One thing i forgot to mention is that they have some party on the inside of the earcups that might poke at your ears depending on your earsize and how you wear them i just wear them a little bit higher than my last headphones and if you can just try them on in a store and see how they fit
Its not too big of a problem for me but I mostly listen to edm and although it doesnt have a lot of bass I feel like it makes up for it in other places, since its seems pretty universal. I found a Fiio e11 amp for $20, i was thinking I could use that and increase the bass from there. Maybe im completely wrong, idk. I will be using the headphones for more then just listening to music so if i cant then im fine with it. As for the earcups im using the razer kraken pro headset which are on ear, so i think ill be happy with the size increase. The krakens keep me satisfied but I want more :))) Btw thanks for the quick reply!
Here is the real under $200. For truly great sound. listed in no particular order. 1. Sennheiser HD 58x jubilee. $150 2. HIFIMAN HE 4xx $169 3. B&O H6 first gen $180 4. Monolith M560 $199 5. Grado SR80e $99 When you mentioned the audio techinas and boss I literally cringed those headphones suck ass. Come on brother I love the channel but don’t play us like that. Do better research.
I recently bought a pair of Sony MDR-XB950's and they are a seriously solid pair of headphones. I bought them from amazon UK for 71 pounds, or 98 euro, or around 100 dollars. best value for money that i've experienced. Really deep bass and clear sound with an over ear design.
+Moussa Alonazi If you like games with lots of bass you should get a closed back, otherwise you can take an open back. Don't forget if your in a room with other people/noice, take a closed back headphone.
+Moussa Alonazi ye. stage on open back headphones is huge. for about ~50$ you can get very good semi-open Takstar hi2050 ( www.head-fi.org/t/641024/takstar-hi2050-first-impressions ) . compared to hifiman he-400 (with ak120 + 24bit/96kHz flac's) he-400 wins in mid's and sound stage(imo about 25-30% larger), but for the price point hi2050 are no-brainer for me. i am enjoying hi2050 as much as he-400, and grado sr40 (so specific, but i like it)
Moussa Alonazi sadly no. ak120 have enough power to power up he400 and i can't afford for GOOD stationary music equipment so I'm sticking with my portable config. but according to cnet : "The HE-400s have a low-rated 35-ohm impedance, but they're understandably difficult headphones to "drive." That is to say, they're not optimized for use with portable music players or phones and is better-suited as a stay-at-home headphone" and this pair is sooooooo heavy, but i can wear it for 3-4h without any complains about fit or hurting ears. but if you want to have planar headphones, he400 are easiest to drive. in the other hand we have electrostatic headphones, and if you can afford for almost 4k$ stax sr09 and 2k$ amp for powering this up, oh man, those are most exciting headphones i've ever listen to. but this price, its killing me.
I got them VMODA LP jokers like 5 years ago and STILL rock them to this day. They still do justice to dat base too. Thought it was pretty cool to see the company brought up.
Milky Shakes Absolutely not! The M40x is a bit better but both are by no means terrible. I would rate the M40 8/10 and the M50 7.5/10. Though thats my opinion, I do wonder why you classify the M50x as terrible, unless you spend $300+ on headphones.
derty.QWERTY42°N yea i noe that...bt i meant what connects to what... etc.. like im gonna build my first pc after my exams next month so yeah... i have no clue as to which wire is needed to be connected to what.... sry if it seems like a dumb request...
+Nikhil Rao It is a very simple process, you just need to know what the cables do, what they are, and where they go. Plugging in the power connectors for the GPU, motherboard, and hard drive is simple, but the io connectors can be confusing. I would highly recommend looking through your motherboard manual for where the small connectors go, and watching some PC builds will help you form a procedure. I did this and now PC building is really simple and straight forward.
I watched this video with my HD 598s. I have the Special Edition ones, and I can definitely say that I am satisfied with my purchase. I actually picked mine up on sale on Amazon for just over $100. Sound quality beats out just about anything I've ever listened to. Like TechSource said, these headphones are good for just about anything. Although it's no gaming headset, the surround sound on these helps a lot. I would definitely recommend these for just about anyone - they're just amazing for anything! EDIT: I actually am not sure if these headphones have surround sound...they sound like they do, with certain sounds sounding like they are coming from different directions.
For the Vmoda's, I would suggest purchasing the XL Pads. I have the M100, and they make a world of a difference. They really open up the headphones and actually make them very comfortable to wear.
Villee.. The 598 sound much better. Sennheiser even brought out a special black edition, but it's much more expencive just get the regular hd598 they are just the best quality headphones for under 200$ On what have you dicided? If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Villee.. When I tested them at my local tech store the trebble on the 598 sounded a bit clearer but I think you made a really good choice for going with them. 80$ also is a really great price for them. What experiences did you make with them and why do you like them? Really interested.
I'm not much of an audiophile, but these are these are the clearest sounding headphones i have ever had. Mostly i play games, chat with friends and watch movies and videos with these. They feel suprisingly sturdy, even though they are like fully made out of plastic. The velour which the earcups are made out of is very soft and it doesnt make me sweat like my old ones. What i said about the differences of the 588 and the 598 is what ive read online, nothing of it have i ever tested myself. There are a lot of videos on modding the 588 into the 598 with just getting that little piece of cloth out of there.
Ok that´s great, it´s just personal preference at this point. You think they are clear i think that the 598 are more clear. It really doesn´t matter. You and I made a great decision!
Headphones under $50? i've got my eyes on the Status Audio HD One, the Koss Portapro, the August EP650, and the Audio Technica ATH-M20x. Love your videos by the way! Easily one of my favorite channels to look at for reviews/rankings/builds/deals.
AKG K267 Tiesto Headphones Best Buy price is $399 but right now you can get them at $139 at Massdrop ONLY and you won't regret it as I own a pair and now waiting for my second pair, they are great for DJ and a serious Audiophile
+Mack Trinz HyperX Cloud 2 are a great pair for under 100 Ed here uses them for his set up and i own a pair, great audio quality with 7.1 surround sound and detachable mic, basically the best you will find for that price
The M50-x are really amazing, bought them about 6 months ago and their built quality and sound quality still amazes me, I use them for gaming and hearing music while I work, true on the discomfort some hours after use, especially if you need to wear glasses as I do, which creates bigger discomfort after sometime, but totally recomended!
After searching for a good pair of headphones for quite a while, I actually endend up buying a pair of v-moda lp2's and I have to say I am more than satisfied... The sound quality is phenominal so is the built quality... I have to dissagree with you on the comfort and sound isolation part... I wear them almost all day for several hours at a time and for almost anything from listening to music, whatching movies and videos on youtube, playing the guitar through my amp, DJing, ect and I have never felt any discomfort, epsecially after purchasing the XL ear cushins... As for the isolation, they may have some sound leakedge outwards, however they isolate your ears from the outside enviroment very well... I have used them in a club enviroment (80-90-100!dB) and have easily mixed songs without any problem and without turning the volume of the lp2's too high... The value for money of these headphones is really increadible.
Wow man. I have watched a bunch of your videos and gotta say, you are very good at giving reviews. Informative and straight to the point. This is why I can watch your videos and not Linustechtips.
I love my ATH-M50x. Even gave my brother one to use. Can't even complain about how great the sounds are plus it's within my price range. My only gripe with this headphone is the leather easily peels of on the ear cups and now on the head portion.
Why again, I looked at headphones later to day now you upload a video about best headphones. You have done it several times now, last time i watch monitors! :D
+iAmit™ (Tutorials, GamePlays, GFX, and More!) three monitors with two mice (one for each hand) and a tung keyboard. this allows me to accutually multi task. the second it was uploaded I ordered the m50X's and had them delivered to a box right outside the amazon warehouse. jumped in my car and drove to the delivery point. an hour and a half later I ripped open the box and tried the headphones. they were glorious. I quickly flipped on my cellular data and wrote the comment. that's how (plz believe)
Damn Edgar, your videos have been really improving in quality. I like your personality you add into your videos unlike half of tech TH-camrs that just read off a spec sheet. Keep It Up!
Just got the m50x today and wearing them as I watch but I think I may return them and get more consumer headphones that look smaller and with in line controls and without a straight connector
Good list. I've got the 598s and love them. They're are unbelievably comfortable and I'm a fan of the open back. They work great for the piano, singer-songwriter music I'm a fan of.
Best pair for me? Preferably over-ear, decent noise isolation. I do lot of train travel. Will also use them with 5-8 hour flights(only like twice a year, but maybe worth mentioning). I like bass, but not to the point where it might be too much for a normal listener. Price max 200-250$. So for travel/regular listening/studying and schoolwork
I'm pretty happy that they didn't put Beats on this list... I could go on about the flaws and bad things about Beats, but I know someone will get pissed. I'm personally a Audio-Technica fan and I have some nice ones for under 110$ that have been working for me for about 7-8 months. Very high sound quality and very crisp. Though I did have to play with an equalizer to make it even better. But, I do recommend Audio-Technica's to anyone.
I have a pair of the v-mods cross fade m-100's and they have none of the issues you experienced with their cheaper model. But obviously they're more expensive to match that.
Coming from a V-Moda owner, if you are going to get them, don't get the LP2s. That extra $20-$50 will be so worth it if you get a pair of Crossfade m-100s. They sound better, and are more comfortable. They look better too, imo.
I agree about the comfort of the V-Moda LP2. I LOVE the sound but after an hour my ears do not feel comfortable. I have to fold the bottom of my ear into the actual cup and after 30+ minutes I catch myself constantly adjusting them. I even tried to get the XL replacement covers and not only did they change the sound stage but they pressed against my jaw. But the bass and sound is what makes me keep them... I just wish V-moda would come out with a pair that is more comfortable for long wear.
A lot of people wondering why I didnt feature the HyperX Cloud II Headset in this video. Its because its a 'headset' not really a pure headphone. I love my Cloud II's to death but this video is only on pure headphones :)
In fact, I have the Cloud II's lying on my desk in the video lol.
Gaming headsets next ?? ;)
hi ed
Hey ed. Can you please make a similar video but for bluetooth Headphones for under 100?
Ed could you do like a big project involving a while desk setup including a build, desk, moniter and do those like twice a year or something like that
+TechSource going to have to shout out the Yamaha pro 400 whilst i'm here. so good
44 people were upset that Beats didn't make the list :p
AstroidmaniaVideos 343 now
many good headphones under $200 would beat that list that he made :)
I'm surprised there wasn't thousands upon thousands of people that were upset that the Beats didn't make the list because the brainwashed Society of this world is just a bunch of Bing bam boom boom
Beats are trash for mixing and recording haha
there's no DT 880 Edition here lmao, the m50x is GARBAGE in comparisson
Says M50x's are uncomfortably then gives them an 8 in comfort
Reason why you shouldnt trust people like him. If you cannot wear a headphone for longer than 2 hours, then they are NOT comfortable AT ALL.
I own a pair and I barely notice them. I don't know what he means when he says he can't stand them for 2 hours.
the audio technica mx series is uncomfortable at first but when u get used to it it will last 6 to 10 hours
I used them 5 hours daily
People dont have the same ears, thats all i have to say. They may be comfortable for some people but uncomfortable for some as well
This isn't the 5 best, it's just the 5 he happens to own...
That's so true for the M50's, I can wear them max 2 hours and then it starts to hurt, especially if you have a bit bigger head.
+TekTick Definitely!
+TechSource Loveeeeeee hurts :D
Just the right amount of time to edit one video lol
+TekTick ecspecieally the apple ear buds u can wear them for max 10 mins xD
Use the velour pads from Massdrop :)
+TekTick I would recommend getting the Brainwavz HM5 Pads. They are extremely comfortable and they fit on my M50's. This definitely improved the comfort as I can wear them for a longer period of time. Also they are only $20
When your headphone makes the list...
* Pauses video, smiles, puts video back on*
So true!
+Eitan Kovac V-Moda!
Rocking the tiesto k267's
M50x's. :)
You forgot beats by Dre
wait wrong video
mimi sir do you not get the damn joke
mimi don't care and for the fact it meant that beats are the worse
you must be fun at parties :D
VenomDesigns beats are not the best. I currently have solo 2. But my cushions are damaged. I wanted to get a Beyerdynamic, afterglow or the headphones that are listed in this video
Cris Garcia 6 "wait wrong video" read that twice and maybe you will get it
No Beyerndynamic?! I really recommend the dt 770 pro! Great comfort, quality and easy to repair if needed!
What about dt 990 pro
You said the v-moda is not comfortable for over an hour and you know most movies are over an hour so how do you recommend them for movie watching
lol
Ed, I think Beats headphones are soooo overrated, what do you think?
Agreed
+TechSource this reply makes me like u as a person by 300%
+AllHokage yeah, I know, I mean, beats are great headphones, you know, they sound really good, but as you said, you can get something muuch better for that price or less
+Sr. Señor Way too overrated, and overpriced.
+Tylaire yeah
This list was great, nice to see you included the 598s :)
beyerdynamic dt770 / 880 / 900 missing
me too, but the most Americans dont know Beyerdynamic
+Leon Sippel I know them and I love them.
+jack Schremmer dt 990 Pro are €150
In Germany They are arround 130€/142Dollar and the 880pros about 200 Euro.
+Leon Sippel Ich habe mein ATH M50X Fuer 120 euro bekkomen :P
*continues to wear $15 earbuds.*
Trapezoid pssssst, peasant,
I have 3$ earbuds.

I love my M50x's. Sound quality is absolutely phenomenal, unbeatable.
showing yourself while listening to music and shaking your head gives me very good impressions of the actual sound
I still really need to try the M50x Q_Q
No you don't they aren't worth it there are better headphones for any application.
Andre Martinez I'm sure I already have "better" headphones in my K7xx and DT990s, but I still want to try them since they come so highly recommended.
+EposVox Oh I see. Have fun then.
+EposVox watch zeos reviews.. review over the m50x
+Slient Stone so m40x is alot better ? dats what he says
Loving the fact that you have added German links. Keep up the work! Favorite tech channel at the moment!
Guess ill be the one to point out the new profile pic.
One of many lol
omg a response i feel so popular right now

That's coming up
Eric Ramirez oh shit he did it xd
Adam Nekzada 😂 😂
Just as I need a new headphones and i was just about to search. Edgar ur timing is always on point.
Nice! How about a Bluetooth edition next?
It would be interesting to see top 5 budget headset. Great Vid!
what about the HYper cloud x2? I thought that would be on there
That's a headset, I focused mainly on headphones.
+TechSource but what do you think about it ? :)
+ImpireHJ Recommended both by "audiophiles" and gamers. If you want to save a few bucks Takstar Pro80s are just the headphones are basically the same thing just no mic and different color.
What's a headset?
+ItZSebasMC Thats a headset. I mentioned headphones only.
I was literally just looking at headphones to purchase before I saw this video pop up on my feed lol. Talk about great timing!
I'm so sick and tired of arguing to 7th grade class mates about why beats suck
Mark B. Yea my little cousin just got beats and there the best headphones she has ever worn... at least that's what she said
Mark B. Stop arguing. Just let their parents go broke because they're buying an overrated, overpriced piece of garbage
MusicFeeds TheSoul
Mark B. The only beats that are good are the Beats Mixrs (kinda biased). They're the only Beats model that actually lasts instead of breaking at any time. They sound pretty great too
show me sth natural...
This video is actually very accurate and also honest which is always a good thing. Nice one
Hey techsource you have to add australian links

If I game and listen to a lot of EDM/House, what would be the best out of these?
I'm not him, but me personally I would say audio technicas
v moda crossfade is amazing for edm/house
Kasper Pedersen Vmodas are one of best for that genre of music. That, and sony.
SHP9500
I'll say stop listening to EDM and start listen to metal
2:00 what about normal users do they come with a normal sized wire?
Here is the real under $200. For truly great sound. listed in no particular order.
1. Sennheiser HD 58x jubilee. $150
2. HIFIMAN HE 4xx $169

You’re right tho
I'd put the m40x on that list, I tried them and I was blown away!
Where can we buy the first headphone

Thanks for the German Amazon links!

The 598 sound much better. Sennheiser even brought out a special black edition, but it's much more expencive just get the regular hd598 they are just the best quality headphones for under 200$
On what have you dicided? If you have any questions feel free to ask.
I bought the 588, since they were on sale for $80, and the difference between the 588 and the 598 is a cloth bad taped inside the earcups.
Liked just because you put links for multiple countries in the description.
top 5 mid tower cases under $100
i want that
like if you agree !!
I own both the M50X and the HD598 SE, both are amazing headphones. Although the 598 are a lot comfier. Great video Ed!
M50x's are overrated.
*grabs popcorn*
I agree.
Nice try bro.
+Aziz Nikbin I might sound really weird for saying this but I actually like the sound of the M40x more than that of the M50x.
the 40x are way better than the 50x. The 50x are not for recreational use but only for monitoring audion unlike the 40x.
marcin kabunga more like the opposite
Headphones under $50?
i've got my eyes on the Status Audio HD One, the Koss Portapro, the August EP650, and the Audio Technica ATH-M20x.
Love your videos by the way! Easily one of my favorite channels to look at for reviews/rankings/builds/deals.

200$???That's expensive hahaha
+Djordje Djuric also known as entry-level for higher end stuff.
+NviForce In Serbia this will cost 500$ hahahah
Try the $50,000 Morpheus sennheisers, I hear they're alright.
+Djordje Djuric Exactly! I would be better if he did the video about 20$ headphones.
My mouse cost 20 dollars and it is shit ahhaha
This is why I can watch your videos and not Linustechtips.
that check coming in weekly for your boy TechSource
I love my ATH-M50x. Even gave my brother one to use. Can't even complain about how great the sounds are plus it's within my price range. My only gripe with this headphone is the leather easily peels of on the ear cups and now on the head portion.
Why again, I looked at headphones later to day now you upload a video about best headphones. You have done it several times now, last time i watch monitors! :D
bought the m50X's due to this video. they arrived and they work great. thanks!
this video was just uploaded..
+Hamza Osman Amazon drone delivery is the way to go, bro.
+chase hiatt seems Legit enough
+chase hiatt seems fake
Dude this was the best review video u showed us everything we want to know
Hey TechSource, I might not always comment on your videos, but I truly enjoy watching them. Keep up the awesome tech videos, Cheers!
Great video! Digging your new haircut
I love my M50x's, used to have Audience knock-off's, but the investment really payed off.
one of the best reviews I've found. thanks.
So glad you did this! I need a new pair!
can you do a microphone in the same price range please? nice videos Ed!
i like kinds of video like this when you show the detail/range on it's headphone
I still recommend Astro a40, simply amazing for gaming, music, productivity. 2 years of having them I was never disappointed with them.
Thanks for the video i was shopping for headphones!! :)
Damn Edgar, your videos have been really improving in quality. I like your personality you add into your videos unlike half of tech TH-camrs that just read off a spec sheet. Keep It Up!
Awesome Video, very high quality and to the point TechSource. Might I suggest a "Best Gaming Headphones 2016" video in the future? :)
What is the difference between audiotechnica ath m40x and ath m50x?
Just got the m50x today and wearing them as I watch but I think I may return them and get more consumer headphones that look smaller and with in line controls and without a straight connector
You should do a top 5 on earbuds aswell, looking for a good pair for school. Need something under about $50
MKBHD recommended the Klipsh S4i. They're around $40, I think.
get the klipsh image s4 ... you wont regret it !
Get some cheap Skullcandy ones
+PlasmaTomato YT ^lol no
Apple ear buds...... Jk i dont know shit about earbuds/earphones
Beyerdinamic dt 990 or 770?
Coming from a V-Moda owner, if you are going to get them, don't get the LP2s. That extra $20-$50 will be so worth it if you get a pair of Crossfade m-100s. They sound better, and are more comfortable. They look better too, imo.
Can you do a top 5 gaming mouse pads? Or is there already one?
I agree about the comfort of the V-Moda LP2. I LOVE the sound but after an hour my ears do not feel comfortable. I have to fold the bottom of my ear into the actual cup and after 30+ minutes I catch myself constantly adjusting them. I even tried to get the XL replacement covers and not only did they change the sound stage but they pressed against my jaw. But the bass and sound is what makes me keep them... I just wish V-moda would come out with a pair that is more comfortable for long wear.
For the V-Moda headphones, if you pick up a set of XL Earpads, they are beyond comfy.
You should do top 5 tech/laptop bags. There aren't so many of those out there and I could use a recommendation.
Thanks Ed for this video because of your review I now have my own pair of audio technicas m50x's
what about the beyerdynamic dt 990 pro
