    My Mom told me when i was 11 how bad I smelled. How I looked too much like my Dad. That I should be ready to have no friends like "pretty girls". I almost stole a deodorant stick so I wouldn't smell bad and wore hats to hide some of my face. I wish no ill will on her, I wish she wasn't so bitter. My daughter is the joy of my life, she wants to dress and act very feminine. I struggle with being feminine, but I'm working on it for the sake of my beautiful baby girl. Thank you for this video.

      once your kids grows up she will only have the bad mom memories.
      all I see in our new world is blaming moms for all our ugliness or fat ( is my moms fault 😢)
      Let that sink in:.
      Count my words 😢

    I have no contact with my mother. Extreme Narcissistic. Can't even spend too much time describing everything that happened, but it's been a relief to cutoff contact. She dressed me up as a boy as a kid b/c it pissed off her baby daddy/my estranged father. She also dressed in hoodies & sweaters & always put down/ hated feminine women.
    I'm feminine & as an adult I wear dresses & skirts & do makeup. I am very pretty too. So the hate turned towards me. Instilling insecurities by making passive aggressive comments. Many things. Anyways im here to continue moving forward & healing.

    I can totally relate to this topic in the sense that mothers can be so toxic and you don't realize it till you are older and feel so much pain talking about it and feel your are a weird human being because of your upbringing was "different"

    I really cringed & didn't like how you said about God position & giving respect & praying for them.. but i had to look inside why i felt that way.
    It came from a place of giving her a piece of her own medicine. I dont want to be like her in anyway so im more open to your advice. I will not allow this person to change who i am & make me like them. I'll pray.

    These were my thoughts last night as I remember my mom who’s no longer here. She did the best she could and I forgive and love her so much. It was Jesus who healed all of the wounds that were left behind. His love taught me about the kind of wife and mother I dream of being one day.

    I know I've commented saying thank you already. but the further i get into the video i feel so validated. I feel a sense of guilt speaking of certain things that has impacted me. My mother has worked so hard all of her life to provide and there's so much we need to talk about. I want to honor my mom but at times I feel resentment. I know that God is not pleased with that. But yet a stranger, knows exactly. I love listening to you and tuning into your podcasts. Thank you for all that you do, it means more than you could imagine. I am actively self reflecting as I approach 30 yrs old, I have a vision of the woman I know I'm supposed to be. Dismantling behaviors, trauma, mistakes (EVERYTHING) to be better for my future kids one day. Thank you - Marissa M.

    Thnx 4 the video...i was raised by my grandmother and got raped by my father's brother . Me and mom didn't have any relationship,its like we are strangers...this month my cousin talked about my rape story to all my family. She says God was using her to talk about it. I am angry and embarrassed..what do i do, does god operate this way?

    • @adventurousdaydreamer
      @adventurousdaydreamer ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No God doesn't operate in that way. Your cousin is a gossip and violated your trust and confidence in her. It makes sense you are angry and you will need to address your cousin about the matter of not asking for your permission to share your business with others. However, after you do talk with her, whether she accepts accountability or not, you should ask God to help you to forgive her because the devil will use that hurt and trauma against you. his goal is to attack your relationship and your identity in God even if he gotta use other people. But you are not the devil's doormat you are a child of the most high God!

    My Mom is extremely toxic. Like I love her to death but all of the things that she has done caused me to develop PTSD and GAD. Any type of self work I do, its always challenged by being around her. I'm in college right now and since I was a kid, she would bring up how she could have a aborted me or will threaten to end our relationship when I stand up for myself. My Mom was always angry and depressed. And she opened up a few times and was always apologetic for her ways, but when then resort back to her ways. She told me that she loved me "conditionally''. So, as a result of this, I'm uncomfortable with affection and emotions. I also have abandonment issues. And at the age of 21, I have decided that enough is enough. I'm working on increasing mh imcome so I can have my own place and not have fo come homs every summer during college break. Her ways just rub me the wrong way. It's like she's arrogant about being the way she is. After years of being called out my name, told that I could have been aborted, threatened to be put out, beaten like I was a hood rat on the streets, I'm done. I love her but I'm done.

    As a mother of a beautiful daughter (inside and out) there were/are difficult conversations but we don’t leave each other’s side until we discuss the situation(s) so life don’t get out of hand- Femininity can also mean, facing the situations as soon as they arise to avoid the situations mentioned Dr Daf.
    Of course our children become frustrated because they don’t like our responses - some children were coddled to always receiving their way - I will always listen to your comments you have great content I just don’t agree with a lot said in this episode-

      Well maybe this video might not be for you. I’m glad to hear that you and your daughter face things head on, but that is not the reality for some of us. Allow this video to provide you a different perspective.
      Perhaps it’s not meant for you to agree, but I can attest that some of the things that she spoke on are 100% relevant to me. I do acknowledge that some children are coddled, but that is not what this video was meant to address.

      This video was created to help those ladies who struggle with their relationship with their mother due to serious underlying behaviors. And our spiritual Mother, is the mother of Jesus , Mary ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙌🏼🙌🏼 if God commands us to honor our mother (and father) then how much more the mother of Jesus ? No one could ever love or honor Mary more than Jesus himself.

    • @drmichelledaf
      @drmichelledaf  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Thank you for watching love. I do not know exactly what you mean but God does not command us to honor Mary it is not biblical. However, we admire and respect all who fulfilled their purpose for God. 🫶🏾

    • @janethuizar4029
      @janethuizar4029 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@drmichelledaf I respect your interpretation of what scripture says. However, scripture says in Luke 1:28. When the Angel Gabriel came to Mary and said , “Hail ! Favored one! (In Greek , “favored one” means honor, honorable”.
      And Luke 1:48 Mary says , “From now all, all generations shall call me blessed”…
      To honor Mary has not only been scriptural but also traditionally for 2,000 years.
      The Bible wasn’t put together by itself. Books had to be chosen to be put into the Bible. A certain council decided through the Holy Spirit which books were inspired and which ones belonged in the Bible and which did not. These early first Christian’s are also the people who interpreted scripture and has passed this down for for 2000 years. It’s not only Bible alone, but bible *with* an authoritative interpreter, the church and tradition as scripture reveals. The Catholic Church is the one who put the Bible together and decided which books belong in the year 300AD and how it’s interpreted.
      However, I really do appreciate your content. And may God bless you abundantly ❤️🙏

      The first ten minutes is her describing the things that could contribute to a severed mother/daughter relationship; which is detrimental to a young woman's blossoming femininity. They are factual observations that Dr. Michelle is just stating, but not giving harsh judgement for any of those observations. I don't think it was her intention to bash any of the ladies here, the collective video is definitely about femininity and meant to help the women who want it.
