1983. I was a second engineer in 90000ton tanker. Now. the engine room is clean and more high tech stuff. I am retired now. but I miss that time a lot. marine engineer life is my life. Good job.
Great Video.....takes me back almost 45 years when I was an ships engineer on cargo vessels, went right around the world. How things have changed, some for the better and some not so. But one thing remains, those were the best days of my life. Nothing compares to sailing on a ship with good shipmates. I'm almost 70 now so cant do it anymore......but hey at least we have your videos for company. Thanks !
Our family used to take the car ferry to Victoria BC, and when I was a young lad, when we were walking from the car to the restaurant on the ferry I would walk by a door to the engine room. Heat billowing out, guys talking, tool sounds, and I thought when I grow up, I want to work in the engine room of a huge ship. Sadly that never came true, but I am a mechanic that works on much smaller things...cars! Thanks for the excellent video!
This is bloody lovely. Exceptional quality. I am sailing next month on my first ever journey as a cadet. For a person like me, your videos are priceless. Thank you!
2 things: 1) It's apparent that you & your crew-mates take great pride in your ship because of the cleanliness and organization. and 2) The video music on this one was perfect. Thanks Jeff.
Incredibly well done. Thank you. My son was excited to learn about the engine and I was excited to watch the great video style. We will be back for more!
I love these vlogs - Mainly because i'm obsessed with life at sea fantasy but also from a pure content standpoint these videos are amazing! Very original - one of the best content creators on TH-cam!
I’ve got to say, I did not even know I was interested in how big ships like that worked. Excellent production quality, even if not for learning about ships, there are definitely amazing filming techniques and transitions to learn from, along with the concise explanations and flow.
My second favorite location on a ship, the engine room, after the bridge of course. Great production value again Jeff! You knock it out of the park every time. I'm going to have to save a couple of your videos for later and not binge on all of them at once. I'll check out your feed on Insta.
Just discovered your vlog beacause im researching how is life and work on a container ship, excellent videos sir! keep it up and be safe on your travels!
Jeff, this is a an awesome video. It's informative and the quality of the videography is superb! thanks so much for making this. If you have the time and inclination, it would be super cool to do individual videos for each system (i.e. power generation, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, etc.). there is so much fascinating stuff going on in the engine room, it would be amazing to be able to learn more - and your video style would it that more fun and informative. anyway, keep up the great work. You just earned another subscriber. Thanks!
Exlente video, shows us all the areas of a machine room, is a video that shows us how is distributed a machine room, is a very large ship. I really liked the importance of safety on board cleaning and order within that machine room. Many and Success ...
Great video Jeff. I just can't believe the size of the crew. I am on a 619 feet × 84 feet, 17000 long tons displacement ship and we have 120 people in engineering alone. Your ship is much larger.
thanks to you, i could learn about container vessel, whenever i go to port of mexico, i always have curiosity about stucture of vessel thank you and have a good day
Well put together video, a bit humour injected to make it appealing. Good introduction to a career at sea. I've had more years at sea ( engineer officer) than I care to remember. For a career for life chose navigation. For a career where you skills are sought after ashore go engineering, There will always be work for you and you get paid to see the world! Continue with the videos they make excellent viewing.
I work as a Gas turbine Technician on a destroyer. It gets hot in the engineroom. Very similar equipment we use; lavap purifiers for fuel and lube oil, coalescers, air compressors etc.
I'm surprised at the need for air compressors what with a gas turbine producing power. Usually the low or high pressure compressor sections can be tapped for charged bleed air and they've got plenty of that to spare.
Was looking for a documentary about the Ulysses (largest passenger ferry in the world, operated by Irish Ferries). Found this instead. Watched, and instantly subscribed. You make good videos.
Great vlog style Jeff, very entertaining & informative with smooth editing & videography. Seems like you're inspiring lots of people and good ambassador for your company. Glad I found your channel.
Wow you are so well understand of every operation and safety standard on the ship even the machine you are definitely a good crew on ship, very nice Thumbs up for you 👍, nice video btw Thanks for sharing God bless you
Excellent video, super educational for those of us who are training in the merchant marine and more to those who will work in the engine room. although I would like an explanatory video of the auxiliary machines
incredible the magnitude and power of these engines, the large size of the machine room to cover the engines, purifiers, boilers and generators shown in the video
hi, I am a first year Maritiem Officier student from the Netherlands. after 4 years I have learned about navigation and engine I can choose between both. What made you choose for navigation instead of the engine room?
the noise. I know i wont be able to handle the constant loud engine sound for 8 hours per day. Navigation i get to stare out the window and day dream and get paid....
thanks for the quick reaction. hmm, some of my colleague students are telling me the engine room can have more challenges compared to a more quieter bridge job
Engineers have mor challenges, that's where the rubber meets the road. Remember that engineers are responsible for ALL ships systems, not just the motors and electrical supply, so you're all over the place. Plus the oppoertunities for advancement are better in engineering, first engineer is actually the secong most senior officer on a ship, with the PAY $$$ that goes with that.
1983. I was a second engineer in 90000ton tanker. Now. the engine room is clean and more high tech stuff. I am retired now. but I miss that time a lot. marine engineer life is my life. Good job.
Huge respect to you sir, i've always admired Engineers' skills and i believe it is much more difficult than Deck side.
KS Yu hi sir how can I get job there
The best way is to go to a school for the maritime industry and get your USCG license in either deck or engines. The you can sail commercially.
KS Yu hey mate I’m going to study marine engineering at university and was wondering if there is much money in marine engineering?
God bless you.

By the way which company sponsored you?
I like your videography style. I appreciate the effort that must go into making your videos.
True
To earn money effort has to be put
I hate it it gave me a headache. Im just tryna look at the engine and he keeps switching fucking slides every 3 seconds
As always a high quality video. Keep the good work up!
Montiro
As an amateur astronomer I really love the way you captured the sky at the end of the video.
2 things:
1) It's apparent that you & your crew-mates take great pride in your ship because of the cleanliness and organization.
and
2) The video music on this one was perfect.
Thanks Jeff.
Nice video again! I watch them all from the first to the last minute!

This is amazing, thanks for the video. I am almost 50 and still love the beauty of engineering.

As always and excellent video. There is one thing though in the commentary; if the ship's engine has 12 cyclinders; is not a v12 but an inline 12.
Yeh
Your videos are super informative and very interesting! I'm nowhere near to becoming a Mariner but this is so good!
awesome video! :) hard find the right shot to capture scale sometimes, but this is great - and funny!

Casey's Neistat style is always the best ))
+Австралия NT Darwin сity wes anderson style :)
Videos are excellent and filmed perfectly 👍🏻 love watching them. Let's have more!! 👍🏻
Awsome video work mate. Keep it up
A real engineer stays in the engine room and keeps the engines running without computers that is a real engineer
That is one massive engine.
That ship is freaking huge.
