Literally no one and I mean NO ONE can come close to Madonna's intelligence, tenacity, drive, ambition, perfectionism, will, and sheer determination. I'm glad I have grown up with her music and artistry since 1982, she will go down in history as one woman that changed the world in many ways. Naysayers will realize this after she eventually passes on, but I hope that is not for at least another 30 years
"Bedtime Stories" is one of her best albums ever, commercial and experimental at once, with heartfelt and poetic lyrics. It's aged beautifully, and it's loaded with classic songs. She sort of compromised its fate on the charts by selecting the title track and "Human nature" as the third and fourth singles, but then again, it proved that she was a fierce and fearless artist. I wish she still made that sort of music today, instead of jumping on bandwagons to make herself sound current... Her lyrics are still defiant and provocative, but musically, it's a whole different story.
Agreed. I really like her lyrics on all of her albums, but musically Madame X and MDNA were a little disappointing for me. Her other albums are great, though
What a fascinating interview. Madonna is incredibly smart and she surprisingly allowed herself to be open in this interview. She seems happy and yet vulnerable. So beautiful.
Totally agree. It's a lost classic, buried deep inside an oustanding discography. I hope it gets rediscovered one day. The entire song is a masterpiece, but for some reason, I've always had a deep emotional response to the instrumental break and the way it morphes into the final bridge. Just beautiful.
DEANO BWFC well diplo sure didn’t say anything bad. Said she let him do whatever on the production of ‘Bitch I’m Madonna’. Anyway I don’t blame her for doing that. It’s her music and if they’re not making it good or anything then why bother? Real artists don’t just release anything they dislike.
@DEANO BWFC actually she was sometimes very disrespectful with the people who work with her. She is very perfectionist and hard working person. But, the fact that she was a bitch sometimes, doesn't take her brilliance and talent. She is timeless.
I don't understand why people say about Madonna that she is so sincere and authentic in this interview... I've watched so many interviews with her...that's her! Trademark, personality trait, tell it how you want...she has always said exactly what she thought in every interview. Her intelligence and sincerity are overwhelming. She has always been true to herself and outspoken about that. The fact that she always responds very quickly is the sign of her sincerity.
I had mixed feelings when the reporter started questioning Madonna’s pureness towards her mother’s spiritual existence. I’m sure that he too has kindness and sympathy in real life but man... when he says “why? she(your mother)’s no longer here” it makes me feel really I don’t know... Is that necessary to be this way when speaking about someone’s vulnerability and faith? That’s his way of being a journalist I suppose.. I loved when she answered him saying “Because she’s my mother. Why is it so hard to understand?... Has anyone closed to you died and don’t you feel that presence?” The reason why I am attracted to Madonna is her strength comes from deep sadness. Instead of being drowned in it she build her faith and puts it out to the world. I sincerely love and adore this woman.
Remember that we live in a world where a bunch of photographers surrounded a wrecked car trying to get the best shot of princess Diana as she struggled to survive. This is what the media does. They don't care about feelings.
I saw this interview on Australian t.v. back in the day and had it on vhs tape. It's always been a fave interview (and completely different era to today).
Great interview and it seems like she was being so real and honest here. Wasn’t too impressed with the approach and some of the comments made by the reporter but I guess he is/was a relic of his time.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING, PERSON AND WOMAN! THE MOST TALENTED, BEAUTIFUL, INTELLIGENT, SMART, CLEVER, CULTURED, FUNNY, WITH INTELLIGENT SENSE OF HUMOR, STUNNING, AMAZING, INTERESTING ARTIST AND WOMAN IN HISTORY!
This is the Madonna from little ole Michigan that we all love. Much more of a true interview then so many other's she has done. She was so adorable here, and not putting on airs.
I miss this attitude. The voice of a city gal. When she was still talking about Monroe, Elvis . Bedtime Stories aged well. I have a good number of Madonna videos on my TH-cam channel ~
Authentic Madonna speaking from your ❤️ as always. Thank you beautiful woman for all your intense, forward thinking, determined and disciplined hard work throughout so many years. You’ve been my role model since I was 9 years of age and I’m 45 now - you’re my other mother 😘 Sending love to you shining star 🌟💕🧚♀️
Melissa No, she sold it a while ago. Madonna purchased the house in 1993 and lived there while filming “Evita.” Her brother took over as contractor and helped with the decor. “Castillo del Lago” It’s a historic mansion in Hollywood. ;)
it's the most beautiful house in LA and it looked much better when it was not white. I was there last year and was dissapointed to see that stripes were gone.
Excellent interviewer, result the interviewee Madonna talks in a free way and it doesn't sound like an interview anymore, it is a conversation between two people.
Obviously there are many intelligent people in the world and you can't compare people but Madonna is amazing and she is very intelligent, no doubt. People can learn a lot from her. Yes, she has/will go down in history as a great woman.
when he was reading the lyrics to Love Tried To Welcome Me, it made me realize that even though Bedtime Stories is a warm/cozy album, it has some cold/poignant lyrics
This was right before she was a mother. Her world has changed profoundly since then. But if you listen to her speak now this Madonna is still there inside.
@@eternalgemini I think see became a victim of her own celebrity. She always had a lot of autonomy in career, even in the beginning. She was at the top of her game for several decades and even in this interview she mentions how she is considered an icon. At some point she began to own it. But more and more she became insulated in it. Now she's practically a brand - Madonna Inc. I still like her though. It's kind of like how emerging actors/actresses try to remain normal and be like everyone else, but the bigger they get the more they cease being like everyone else.
It’s interesting to see her here. Her laughing sometimes is a lot like early 90s-Madonna whereas lots of what she says and how she says it hints at the persona she would present a few years later when promoting Ray Of Light.
I live in los angeles and early 90's my cousins and i found out her house location was off sunset and doheny we would cruise her neighborhood and one night her oncoming mercedees was approaching our car she was passenger bleach blonde hair big black glasses red ruby lipstick as her then model bf tony ward was driving. So much fun. Another time we went through her trash and i found her versace black petite purse and cut up platinum amex with her signature on bak madonna cicconne. Good times

i’m also glad that i have grown up with Madonna
She’s the sharpest tool in the box. Always.

It’s her best work

Yes. Well, I dunno after her recent surgery. Her music from the 80s and 90s were her best ever. Iconic music.

... gulp. When she speaks about her mother . 😢😢
That's the most horrible thing you can suffer in this life...
It was so inappropriate, I felt bad for Madonna having to endure that.
One of my favourite interviews with her.
She was so beautiful in 94

Clássica, Moderna, inteligente, não há palavras suficientes pra definir essa mulher maravilhosa! Deus abençoe!
I had never seen this interview before. So glad that I came across OT after all these years.
My favorite Madonna is THIS Madonna ♥
She was so vulnerable during this period. You can sense the pain and longing in her voice when she talks about her mother.
Gosh, what a great interview!!!!
Madonna in my most favorite Madonna era!!!😍🤩
Madonna looks so good here , i love her interviews
Bedtime stories is one of Madonna’s best pieces of work along with Ray Of Light , MDNA, Madame X among more

“ Because she’s my Mother. - she was teary-eyed there.

Watching this, on aug 16, 2020. Just want to say happy birthday....
It is strange, but Madonna seems to do well in interviews with nerdy or stodgy or "establishment" guys. Good mix for her.
I drove by that house yesterday, they painted in white.
