    Merci mille fois!🙏
    I have been trying to duplicate the rice from a restaurant I used to love in Washington DC called Moby Dick.
    (It's a chain of Afghani cuisine within the DC Beltway that made huge flatbread which was as big as the great white whale which is how they chose that name).
    I still dream about their rice and have never come close to replicating it.
    So, on this blustery cold day in LA, ( I live in Malibu and it just started hailing! Hail in Southern California)?! 😱
    Anyway; I have decided to do research and am most grateful for your excellent instructions and demonstration. Thank you for sharing your expertise and talent with us! 🙏😸🙏
    Question: Do you use aged Basmati rice for this pilaf?

    • @Edibleaccents
      @Edibleaccents ปีที่แล้ว

      Moby Dick is Persian not Afghan

    • @mpheartspc
      @mpheartspc ปีที่แล้ว

      Most if not all, basmati are aged, use any brand.

    How do I add the water to the oil without it splattering everywhere ??? Do u lower the heat first

    • @ChefMariaShera
      @ChefMariaShera  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, lower the heat let it cool off a bit than add the water.

    • @cotteeskid
      @cotteeskid 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      had a similar problem. sugar darkened way too fast probably due to a gas stove which can't get heat low enough. Some other videos show browning the sugar in a dry pan, then add water for a light brown liquid and adding hot oil directly to the rice as a separate step - not mixing together. This is a safer option for my type of stove so will do it that way in future.
