Salam alykum sister thank you very much my first time I follow your recipe and how cook rice. I had never cooked an egg but I decided why as a man can't make palow. We all men ha e follow our prophet saw and help at home and in the kitchen with our family. Allah bless you sister thanks
I tried it today for the first time .. and it tasted perfect even tho i didn t have garam masala so i had to make my own from watching another video 😅. But for my first time it tasted perfect ..
Merci mille fois!🙏 I have been trying to duplicate the rice from a restaurant I used to love in Washington DC called Moby Dick. (It's a chain of Afghani cuisine within the DC Beltway that made huge flatbread which was as big as the great white whale which is how they chose that name). I still dream about their rice and have never come close to replicating it. So, on this blustery cold day in LA, ( I live in Malibu and it just started hailing! Hail in Southern California)?! 😱 Anyway; I have decided to do research and am most grateful for your excellent instructions and demonstration. Thank you for sharing your expertise and talent with us! 🙏😸🙏 Question: Do you use aged Basmati rice for this pilaf?
@@ChefMariaShera is this the same brown rice that is served at Afghan style restaurants in the United States? This looks like it and I love this rice. Thanks for the video
I with I had seen your comment before trying this on the weekend. Definitely had the splatter, which I should have realised first but followed the video exactly. dumb.
Omg I should’ve come to the comment section because I thot I was going to blow down the house when I added water to hot oil. Ugh. Well it’s too late and I felt like a 9 year old kid who never cooked before when I did that part
had a similar problem. sugar darkened way too fast probably due to a gas stove which can't get heat low enough. Some other videos show browning the sugar in a dry pan, then add water for a light brown liquid and adding hot oil directly to the rice as a separate step - not mixing together. This is a safer option for my type of stove so will do it that way in future.

Question: Do you use aged Basmati rice for this pilaf?
Moby Dick is Persian not Afghan
Most if not all, basmati are aged, use any brand.
Thank you🫶🏻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇧🇷👈🏽
❤
Is it sweet??
not really just gives the rice a unique taste and aroma

How do I add the water to the oil without it splattering everywhere ??? Do u lower the heat first
yes, lower the heat let it cool off a bit than add the water.

Taste bitter. What mistake could I have done?
You might have over cooked the sugar a bit too much, and you might have added more sugar. let me know if its a problem for you again. thanks !

adding water to hot oil? doesn't sound safe
cool down the oil then add the water to make it safer for you.

It would better without the stupid subtitles that don't even make sense and that are blocking the English sub-titles
Well get that fixed!, its an error, thanks for letting me know.
