  • Marshmallow Beetle by Kenshiro Shimazaki is among most original and creative flies i have ever seen. At the same time its very easy to tie.. Marshmallow style bodies are very versatile, so experiment with them.
    Tight lines

    Great video. Ship keel analogy made a lot of sense, will consider that when tying terrestrials.

      @Oholisfliesandfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Hook is very important part of the balance. Hooks with more narrow gap will provide less keel effect while wide gap will provide more.

    Very interesting concept of well balanced fly with heavier hook and polypropylene detached body ! I am going to tie some terrestrials this way! Another beautiful and instructive video Vladimir !👌👍👏

    Great tie my friend, I’m going to tie a few myself as beetle imitations. I’ve been using polypropylene quite a bit here lately to tie dries from head to tail and they always float high on the water making them incredibly easy to see, and as a bonus, due to how light they are, they cast like a dream.

      Thanks so much. And thanks for your comment on polypropylene... I was never super keen on using synthetics too much. But seems it works well.

      @@Oholisfliesandfishing I am typically the same way and much prefer natural materials over synthetics myself, however, there are just some synthetics that are hard to beat and polypropylene happens to be one of them. Davie McPhail had a video where he demonstrated a fly named the Dynamite Harry that used poly for the body and the post, and I have to say it works very well and changed my mind on the material itself.

      @@mikehulsey4813 Agree on that. Look for rackelhanen sweedish fly. Its simple but great. I saw that video from Davie, looks very fishy. I am changing my mind too i think.

    Going to tie a few of these up in black for beetles. Looks a good alternative to foam. Have you tried to suspend a nymph duo style or is it not buoyant enough? Keep up the good work 👍

      @Oholisfliesandfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I never tried it... First time tomorrow i hope
      I would assume that moderately heavy nymph it can carry for some time.... But for that purpose foam is unbeatable. 🍺

    We use the phrase ‘belt and braces’ for the addition of superglue to secure the GSP from slipping! I do like this concept and will adapt for a CochyBonddu beetle thank you!!

      Never heard that phrase before. Thanks for it. Do you use it only for tying or there is another meaning?
