Lovely little fly Davie...a beauty for the hill lochs when the caddis are hatching. Usually end of May where we were in the Highlands, but sometimes earlier.
I tried this hooks and I love them . Super sharp and strong . I’ve bought so many hooks from famous brands that are so weak😢 I’ve bent them all the way back on my vise wile breaking 8 /ow uni tread away , the same way you break yours instead of cutting it , I want to thank you for your teachings . On all matters ,from dying materials all the way to a masterpiece fly . Is like magic it’s like all materials are at your command 😊
Fantastic video. I like to use Mucilin on my flies at home right after they are out of the vice. Mucilin is not so popular in Colorado. Either are larger wets and dries. But since I am old I use bigger flies like people use in the UK. Then I stick with free stone rivers and avoid tail waters. I think this Never Sink Caddis will work great on warm water bluegills. They are a blast to catch on dries!
Отличная компания собирается в Флай боксе, благодарю, Дэви! Разные цвета и оттенки не помешают в любом случае, мы ведь не знаем что у рыбы в предпочтении!👍🤝🇰🇿
Seems every video I learn something new. The multiple stacked wing technique seems effective to keep it on top of the water. I'll give that t a try. Also, nice new intro! Cheers!
Brilliant Davie! The use of ultra dry yarn tied in sedgehog style instead of deer hair is a game changer. Do you think it will perform better? Tied in bigger sizes and different colours it will be excellent for larger Sedge patterns on lochs such as the great red Sedge. Do you reckon it will be more robust too? I look forward to tying some in larger sizes too. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Allan, It may fish better at times though the original hedgehogs are hard to beat as I've had many a fish on them over the years so having both in the box would be the right thing to do..The biggest I've tyed are size 10s and they were fine though any bigger I would maybe have some deer hair in the middle to help with the colour and support.. I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie..
Hi @dankochanek8056, They do have some of the patterns I have on TH-cam but not this one though it would be one I would recommend to them to get tyed.. I have attached links to the ones they sell here in the UK and the USA for you to see.. Hi Harry, I see that after doing a search myself nobody seems to have some, next time I'm talking to someone from F.M I'll ask them when they are getting some back in.. All the very best Davie..
Hi Lee, I did tye some bubbles a few years ago using the Polypro and it did work ok though I do prefer the original cdc wings..I might tye up some using the ultra yarn to see how they fish as I'm sure they will float well... All the very best Davie..
Just another ho-hum, absolutely exquisite example of a venerable “no-sink” Caddis. Always a pleasure to learn a new pattern from ya Davie! ❤

Davie, how come I don't see your patterns in the Fulling Mill catalog or on Orvis's website?

@@DavieMcPhail Not sure how I missed those. Thanks!! I love all your bugs but the caddis are my favorites!!
So where do you find light dun ultra dry yarn ?
Many shops have this yarn but all are always out of light dun.
Hi Harry,
I see that after doing a search myself nobody seems to have some, next time I'm talking to someone from F.M I'll ask them when they are getting some back in..
All the very best Davie..
Loving using the FM ultra dry yarn material on a range of dry flies and emergers in combo with CDC …thanks for sharing your tying tips in this video
Paráda
Would the yarn work for a bubble caddis pattern?
