After Barret's best friend was seemingly killed, he took up the responsibility of raising his friend's daughter. *Barret cared so much about his bro that he swore to protect his family as if they were his own.*

Barret and Marlene actually make me cry happy tears, his love for Marlene, this adorable smart little girl, just melts my heart. Barret, this tank of a man, is a big softie inside and loves this child unconditionally. It's so heartwarming to watch.

Their relationship is one of my favorite things about this game
Man when Barret screamed his daughter name and hit the now destroyed slums broke my heart and made me cry hard. You can feel how devastating he was. Besides his friends, Marlene was the only family he had left. The love for his daughter was the best thing out of this remake and the original. The voice actor did a fantastic job and was perfect for Barret.
For me its specifically when he calls for Wedge, when his voice breaks part way through it. Chills every time, to keep the imperfect delivery is what makes it so perfect
The way barrett behaves makes me wish i had a father figure even close to him.

Hearing Barret’s voice crack at 7:50 broke me. The whole prior scenes made me sad, but this shit brought a tear to my eye.
His voice actor did an amazing job. He's the best voiced char for me.
Mrs Gamer far and away the best voices character, though Aerith is definitely a close second
100% it deff came close to breaking me. I played the original so seeing them all fleshed out that much more meant the world and barret is one of my favs. My bf was first introduced to ff7 via the remake and he shed a tear when barret was slamming his fist screaming marlenes name. They did him so much justice and the voice acting is amazing. Barret is 10/10 BEST DAD and I wish I had a father figure even 10% like him 😭

I love how the fans of ff7 are split on a lot of things like Tifa or Aerith. But the one thing everyone agrees on his how good of a dad Barret is.
Being a father to a 6 month old girl, their chemistry pulled at my heart strings. I legit teared up several times.

Basically he’s a father with a daughter and while his daughter is still an infant, he knows he’s going to have a relationship likely to the same degree as Barret and Marlene’s as she ages. Even if your child isn’t at a certain age, your a father to a daughter and age doesn’t matter in that regard. That’s your baby girl, regardless of how old she is.

I don’t what it is, but Barret’s eyes are just so full of emotion and heart. His shades cover that part of him, great design choice.
Cloud is as big as a Barret arm and Marlene as his hand. Barret is the best remastering of this remaster

Seeing all this makes me even sadder knowing we'll most likely get Barret's backstory and the Dyne storyline in Part 2. My heart's not gonna be able to take that.
It’d be even more heartbreaking if we actually get a segment where we play as Past Barret, where he treks through the burnt remnants of Corel, finds a baby Marlene crying alone, and struggles to get her to safety while having to deal with the physical and emotional pain of losing his arm.

Am I the only one who ships Barret and Elmyra? They’re both widowers, both have an adoptive daughter, and they both seem to understand one another pretty well.
After Aerith dies, Elmyra will be all alone and her only comfort will be Marlene. I think the two of them should hook up and take care of her together.

The personality that a child develops is based partly on mental wiring and how the parent raises them. I would sometimes act out as a kid, but as an introvert with autism, I was also quieter than most children and quick to follow requests when my parents asked me to do something.

I played the remake before the original. I imagined Barrett as a tough but fair asshole who means well (not too off) but when we met Marlene my opinion immeaditly shifted toward him being a big softy. Love Barrett

@@mrsgamer9218 Definitely for the better. A child voice will always be better and more impactful than an adult acting as a child. It’s easy to tell the difference and really plays the character off as a legitimate child. Which makes the sad moments for example way more impactful.

When Marlene said "She was kinda" then stopped. I think it's my suspicion Marlene may have Cetra blood in her.
Or certainly sees that she is special and such: as a child, she could also have some limited connection to the Lifestream that one just grows out of and she could tell Aerith had a deeper link.
Barret can set a good example for future dads out there. so they don't be "deadbeat" dads.

Marlene is without question Barret’s most humanizing aspect. If I’m honest, I don’t think he believed in the whole eco part of his terrorism. He just hated Shrina for orphaning the girl, or so he thinks in the OG.

The new kingdom just removed all the ff characters. Which I was mad and the game was a joke in my opinion.
Squall Aerith Yuffie and Cid appear in the DLC. Other than them none of the others really serve a purpose other than fan service.

I also think Marlene has Ancient blood in her. In the ending when Barrett said goodbye the planet communicated with her. If you saw Advent Children there were clues also.

The acting is a little hokey but it's way better to see Barret acting more like a dad.
