This isnt same with North America, which is crossed by an X on a map in Half Life Alyx, which implies that human inhabitance might have ended due to the use of thoose "destructive" weapons and might ended the possiblity of rehabitating the area.
I like to think this is how the Combine's infantry dealt with heavy resistance; just send wave after wave until their lines are crushed. After all, there are always more from the other universes they've conquered.
Those waves of units has more far advanced technology, so the chances of the waves being a success is very likely. Or perhaps they could just flank earth's army every time using a teleportation ability

Well in reality when you have someone in a fight or flight situation they will fight until they die and when these guys got ambushed by something they don't understand it's shoot first ask questions later. And that's why the combine took losses because these guys wanted to live.

Remember that, if you need voices for the characters, you can always ask your suscribers. Just tell them to send voice clips to an email, and see who's voice would fit on it. It's better than having all characters totally silent. At least have them yell things in the battle, like in an actual battlefield.
I guess the invasion force overwhelmed humanity with absolutely insane numerical superiority since here 105mm tank shells and 5.56mm rifle fire seem effective against Combine heavy armor and pulse rifle-wielding synth soldiers.
nope the synth army as you can see here is far more stronger than the original combine in half life 2. the half life 2 combine is just the guard. the full army is displayed right here
Ballistics no matter how advanced can only go so far a point that pulse tech was much better than hows was the fact that how guys took rounds to the center mass and just fell dead no wounded just dead and their speed also helped them overrun us

It looks to me like the Combine aren't really that powerful. They've just got superior numbers. I mean, their troops and synths are just as easily felled by our weapons and equipment as we are to theirs.
Just a Guy Yeah, it was mostly strategical nightmares (According to canon, the war started by the Combine dropping citadels on all the big cities that were left on Earth and pouring troops off of them) and the already hard-to deal with Xen portal storms that forced the UN to capitulate so quickly. If the humans weren't exhausted by portal storms and knew the Combine were coming in advance, it would take a lot longer to get Earth to surrender. The Combine would most likely need to tap into their bigger guns (as I'd imagine a Universal empire wouls have) to do it.

But I have a theory (just a theory) as to why we hardly saw any of these Synths, do you think that maybe just as soon as they brainwashed us or we surrendered, all of the Synths returned to there Universe just to let the Metropolice and most of the Combine soldiers, take care of the rest of the humans (citizens) and only left them all the non cut Synths perhaps (the ones we all know)? And only Gordon Freeman & Adrian Shephard are away from this battle.

The heavy, tank like "crab synths" were actually seen in HL2 whilst you move through the citadel; Most likely heavy reinforcments against the uprising, that thankfully never came into use. Most other synths seen in the vid though, are from my knowledge atleast, original concept for high-grade synths made from humans, that were planned but never were implemented. The heavier ones being what would perhaps been a sort of "heavy infantry". I like to think this is what happens to those soldiers sent to "permanent off-world assignments" though.

Since earth was conquered in less than 7 hours, I have several theories but only three are most likely and one is quite confusing. My main theory is that the combine and their technology were way too advanced for the mere human forces. They could not form a proper strategy to counter what they were not able to understand causing their capitulation. My second theory is that while the humans were more than capable of repelling the invaders, each nation was too selfish and egoistic to actually help each other until it was already too late. My third theory is that while the combine technology was not that advanced, they had numbers: due to their universal extention, they could attack from several locations, multiple portals have opened and earth forces could not keep up with the massive numbers. My last theory is that since the world of half life 2 is heavily influenced by 1984, then the combine are not really in charge of the whole world. They just control part of it while the remaining, few nations are still fighting against them.

To be honest I'm not a fan of having the Combine Synth aliens using the HL2 Human Overwatch Pulse Rifle. I imagine the Pulse Rifle was made for the Human Combine cyborgs and the Synth using their halberd-like weapons and Elite Synth using their gun-arms. Other than that, very well animated.

Well, in the first 7 hours of the war combine used synths and their other "puppets" to attack the earth, but when they saw that human weaponry are capable of defeating those, they just came themselves (advisors). No weapon can hope to have any effect on those telekinetic haxors. Maybe it took 7 hours (or 6.5 hours) for the advisors to join the war? Because looking at the weaponry in this video, humans could have won the war if these were the only enemies.
napalmstrike2007 I highly doubt the advisors had any role in the war itself, since nobody, not even Alyx or Eli, seemed to know anything about them other than Breen. And they're not that invulnerable since they can easily be hurt by Dog & a pipe to the face by an old man.
We do not know the range of their telekinetic powers. They could have just "sniped" all of our soldier, or at least vehicles from the orbit. Dog beat them because the one that got attacked wasn't expecting him. But in case of a war, they will be fully aware of their environment, and be very very hard to kill.

Since earth was conquered in less than 7 hours, I have several theories but only three are most likely and one is quite confusing.
My main theory is that the combine and their technology were way too advanced for the mere human forces. They could not form a proper strategy to counter what they were not able to understand causing their capitulation.
My second theory is that while the humans were more than capable of repelling the invaders, each nation was too selfish and egoistic to actually help each other until it was already too late.
My third theory is that while the combine technology was not that advanced, they had numbers: due to their universal extention, they could attack from several locations, multiple portals have opened and earth forces could not keep up with the massive numbers.
My last theory is that since the world of half life 2 is heavily influenced by 1984, then the combine are not really in charge of the whole world. They just control part of it while the remaining, few nations are still fighting against them.

Combine guards are innaccurate here. They have been made out of humans and more probable to appear after the war.

Those are Combine Synth Elite soldiers, not combine guards, and they could quite possibly be one of the main combine battle troops.

Oh, my bad then. Though, still, we don't know if combine trapped a bunch of humans to experiment on them and therefore they have created transhumans even before they invaded earth. I think this could be a possibility too.

Well they probably knew about humans even before those 7 hours. Not much is known about that though, but they surely must have gathered some information about earth and humans before the invasion. And the invasion also takes preparation, so they had enough time

To be honest I'm not a fan of having the Combine Synth aliens using the HL2 Human Overwatch Pulse Rifle. I imagine the Pulse Rifle was made for the Human Combine cyborgs and the Synth using their halberd-like weapons and Elite Synth using their gun-arms. Other than that, very well animated.
+Tiberius Kirk It is rather widely unknown what the original weapons where going to be. I mean, the original metrocops where going to literally be slug aliens.
anyway, the gun and the gun sound suits the combine here.
On the early concept arts this synth (which model is actually in this sfm) should hold a Hunter-Chopper gun.

Well, in the first 7 hours of the war combine used synths and their other "puppets" to attack the earth, but when they saw that human weaponry are capable of defeating those, they just came themselves (advisors). No weapon can hope to have any effect on those telekinetic haxors. Maybe it took 7 hours (or 6.5 hours) for the advisors to join the war? Because looking at the weaponry in this video, humans could have won the war if these were the only enemies.
napalmstrike2007 I highly doubt the advisors had any role in the war itself, since nobody, not even Alyx or Eli, seemed to know anything about them other than Breen.
And they're not that invulnerable since they can easily be hurt by Dog & a pipe to the face by an old man.
We do not know the range of their telekinetic powers. They could have just "sniped" all of our soldier, or at least vehicles from the orbit. Dog beat them because the one that got attacked wasn't expecting him. But in case of a war, they will be fully aware of their environment, and be very very hard to kill.
