Your ability to turn moments like 'Girlfriend ROASTS My DIY Canopy Setup!' into shared laughter and resilience is truly admirable. Your humor and ability to find joy in everyday mishaps make your journey uniquely inspiring. And I am Floating Village Life

Looking good guys. Ive found rock lights to be much better at illuminating work areas under the canopy doors compared to strip lights. Even the kings white/orange combo ones are good. Also, wiring your canopy lights through door switches ($5 form jaycar) is one of the best mods. not having to turn the lights on when opening the doors makes a huge difference. you can still wire the power through a toggle switch for on off master control

    Daniel, nice job mate!
Remember the penguins 🐧 from Madagascar and “ Smile and wave boys……. don’t make eye contact and back away slowly.”
    But nice work IMHO.

Bianca should be reviewing real estate, new cars, expensive couches, virtually anything. Direct, fast paced, to-the-point, no bullshit. Great delivery.
Tell us what you LOVE about the Isuzu and what you’d change.

@10:23 You can always move the fridge door clasp from the top to the side. The profile that gets drilled into for the screws goes all the way around the door. I did this for my fridge as it only fit into my canopy by 2-3mm in height so no room for fingers 😂.

Honest feedback and scoring an 8/10, should be happy with that! 👍
I've been watching the two of you guys for some time now, it's's always great seeing you guys building things together ! Time to put a ring on it, Daniel!! 😉

Good job all round on the build and the review, well done guys, any of the gripes are easily fixed.
On the pantry alter the door and put the shelves on sliders and it’s perfect.
You mention a few things on the ute that cracked or gave problems, can you do a video of that, would be good to see.
P.S. Two weeks to go up and back and do the Gibb River Road is a big ask, you must have belted through it.

Great video, we went the kings 110 litre fridge which has 16 litre freezer, works so well bottles of water freeze on the shelf under the freezer, we store enough meat for 7-10 days in freezer, but the door locking system is shit,we use the child lock as well 😀

Great that build staying good and solid.
As for bottom of fridge if a price of foam placed in front of fridge door so when canopy door closed pushes slightly on foam.
    Thanks for sharing your life.

Thanks again Daniel and I can really relate to Bianca’s fair critique as I mentioned my own short stature previously for reaching things - it’s my third stage Hilux/MW Toolbox canopy build in three years now (A$7500 - includes canopy, Redarc, Lithium, Engel, electrics) with everything out as I review your great ideas and now including under canopy water tank, Sureflo pump/pressurised reservoir system - Bianca’s draw slide issue has been the same for me with my ‘EBay’ brands and not only get stuck sometimes but not always locking when fully extended but I can live with that (Dunn & Watson too A$$$’s) (may be the extra 1 mm of countersunk screw head hitting the slide?) - will wait until Bushmaster improves their door mechanism and temp control/air flow before I replace my trusty Engel slide out (with stool) - it’s obviously apparent that Bianca can now stand on Terra Australis without the stool so I will consider selling my aluminium ute tray and directly chassis mount the canopy lowering it a decent 10cm and helping to reduce my weight by 100kg offsetting the new 50kg of water (50litres) - I can then get it under the carport with the 23 Zero RFT - I always tell young folk “Aim for a pass and you’ll probably fail - aim for a distinction and you most likely pass” - good work Daniel and definitely a high pass.

Daniel, congrats, good to have a happy partner, a good storage system, everything in its place.
I do recall watching the roller door assembly build and saying thats going to get caught up, become a dredded item.
As you have the door coil around, it is impeded by the groves catching on items in the downward roller action internally. It also has a low access due to coiled roller action, that restricts height in accessing stored items.
You could alter the track to run up the front take a rounded 45° turn, run across the top, take another rounded 45° turn at top rear, with tracks going entirely down the rear outer wall, (no impedence on items within that way).
Thus, when you open the roller shutter it runs directly up, across thd top, and down the rear, externally.
You then also end up with full height access at the front.
Just my resolution to your problem as I do like the concept, concerned the roller door will eventually self destruct over time though.
    Regards, Wealie.

My wife, has just suggested a really cool idea for your pantry issue, put the roller for the door further back but also maybe make the shelves slide out like drawers but with sides to prevent everything from falling out, that way you just pull the shelf forward to get what you need then push it back in and then the roller door won't jam as much. 😊

G'Day mate firstly nice build you did a great job, those slides sticking isnt your fault they will usually lock like that if you don't fully pull them out and then unlock, happens with ours as well and also on the freezer fridge slide as well. Its amazing how we all make out canopy's look alike yet their all so different recon we must all put the fridge in the same spot lol. A question thou where gig you source that square power point station from that's connected to your inverter that looks pretty cool

Looking forward to the GRR series.
The canopy set up looks sensational. Great build job Daniel.
IMO there is no perfect set up and chasing it is futile. The adaptable component in any set up is the user's flexibility. What do you want as opposed to what do you need? Give me a comfortable sleep and a place to put my stuff and I'm pretty happy.

Your fridge door isn't closing because you didn't heat your rubber seals after installing. Bushman recommend to heat inner seals with dryer or heat gun on low so the magnetic seals reconnect with base magnetic.

Have a look at the brass monkey upright fridge. Larger freezer space, digital control and seperate temp readout for freezer and fridge, and it has a double opening door so you dont have to move hinges for opening on the other side, plus it locks top and bottom. Ive taken mine all across Australia doing some pretty rough tracks and corrugations with no issues

First time watcher but enjoyed your video. But I just wanted to say, the drawer runner stopping (getting stuck) half way when you don’t open the drawer entirely is a safety to stop the drawer slamming on your fingers incase you didn’t mean to close it. They’re made to open completely and lock in to place and the unlock and close in one movement. Hope that helped 😊

I saw Bianca building a scratching post in the background of one of the vids, do we get a Daniel critique?
On a serious note, I like the temporary draws, and am considering having my main drawers as large tubs that just slide in and out to save weight. This will depend on being able to find something suitable (under bed storage tubs maybe) but it’s my main plan for the moment.

Maybe look at putting the pantry supplies into small shallow plastic tubs so that you can just slide the tub out and grab what you need. This would also help in getting stuff jammed against the roller door.

with having a daw for your bowls and stuff why not make the bottom 2 draws as one giving you a double height draw for all the plates and bowls and stuff. Can just build it out of 9mm marine ply and then carpet it inside or vinyl it in white

  • @Portyhouse
    @Portyhouse 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Aren't the drawers meant to do that, it's to stop the slider closing when on a slope and not getting your fingers caught. My larger drawer does it and fridge slide so it doesn't slam backwards, that being said I've never worked out how I make it happen LOL

Those drawer runners lock halfway by design. If you pull the drawer out beyond 50% but not lock it at 100%, it'll lock at 50% when you close.
All of my drawer runners of the same style behave the same (which is 9 pairs between the camper trailer and the ute).
To avoid it, either don't pull the drawer out beyond 50% or make sure you pull it all the way to 100% lock each time (as Bianca was doing when originally trying to show the issue, but couldn't replicate), or just hold down the tab when you're closing the drawer.
