I drove my first Sedac in the early 80s tramping around Europe for several years for Eldridge of Silvertown with a reefer in the meat trade. Fresh beef out and frozen beef and pork in. The cab was a great improvement on the old Atki with a nice bunk, insulation and a night heater that actually worked. The engine was a 240 Gardener that was under powered but I still managed to get 2 speeding tickets in Germany. The one big advantage was that the Gardener could pull away on tick over in snow and ice which was a blessing in winter time when travelling through Bavaria and Austria. In the summertime, there was a large square roof vent that kept the cab reasonably cool and the screen had a blue tint in the upper part of the glass.

This is one of my uncle daves trucks, it brings back so many very happy memories of when me and my brother used to go stay with dave, wynne and the rest of the Bullman familly, if only those times could of lasted forever,

The 401’s were a nice truck to drive - but my most repetitive memory of them was when I was painting a Rothman’s Sed-Aky, at BRS Darlington, and I tilted the cab without lifting the front grille. Do you know those grilles cost £200 each back in the ‘90’s ? - I do because it came out of my wages. 🤪

Use to drive a 301 with an Eaton splitter, loved the weight plate in side the passenger door, gave you the weights and at the bottom had the words " quality engineering ". Great truck with a rubbish steering lock

2:14 E145JRE the last truck that I drove for a living, she was a 4-11 with a 320 Cummings, she was a flying machine until the speed limiter was retro fitted. This photo was taken not long after she had been repainted. She spent here early live in BAL (Building Adhesives Ltd) livery.

Awesome trucks ! Drove a few of these back in the day , 401's with the big cam went like a scalded cat ! A few scania drivers used the 401 spare motor , at the company i worked for , and let's just say they were more than surprised when they got back !! A proper truck

Perfect examples of why the UK truck industry is no more. Sudden Accidents , ERF and Foden were dire things. They had little in the way of driver comfort and had little driver appeal. Once had the misfortune to drive a ERF with the 8lxb Gardner, it could hardly pull an empty trailer..

Never got to drive one of thease just true work horse's I think they had 13 speed Fuller's or Eaton twin splitters in them might be totally wrong the day cab units pulling federal express must have looked so cool on the road
