One of the few coaches that actually tells you to use the wrist in the forward (flexing) direction - yes, and the upward as well. Everybody else is simply wrong - i.e. -the wrist is not always laid back at contact. It's laid back when returning a hard shot for control but it is flipped forward,up, and over when trying to get power on an easy ball or spin on a low ball.
Is your suggestion on that video only for a low and a running FH ??. What is your view on the wrist participation on attacking balls or on neutrals balls a player receives. Please advise. Thanks . Fio.
The lag of the racquet head and the wrist movement at contact is one of the most underexplained parts of the forehand in my opinion. Great tip! I will definitely put in in practice tomorrow.
Too many coaches out there trying to revolutionise tennis. Every day there seems to be some new jargon being invented; plow through, access to spin, launch angle, lag, trophy position, pronation, external shoulder rotation, loading position, kinetic chain etc etc. Did Bob Brett, Ian Barclay, Gunther Bosch, Tony Picard, Lennart Bergelin, Mike Estep, Harry Hopman, Nick Bolletieri use any of these terms? No. but they were instrumental in developing some of the sports best players. The worst part of all this none of these TH-cam guys did anything in the tennis world. They take fifteen minutes to explain something that should take five, they repeat themselves continuously and in many cases the information they are disseminating is ranges from questionable to flawed. To all you online coaches here's a pearl for you: A good coach simplifies the complex, a bad coach complicates the simple.

Funny. His demonstration is not accurate to what he is actually doing in the slow motion clip of his stroke.
