For sure. I almost feel sorry for Brentford, played great all year, won 7 straight games from the restart but then bottled it against Stoke and Barnsley. They literally only needed to win one of those games and they were up. Instead they lost 4 of their last 5. I hope they can make it up next season but it’ll be real tough without their front 3.

Billy Beane has been doing this in Baseball since '97. I love this approach for teams that cannot afford to throw money at their problems. I hope this approach becomes more wide spread and levels the field. It will make for some exciting play.
Finally someone gives baseball its due respect and credit on this video. I believe that it's pretty cool that football teams are using this method, but I'm frankly annoyed that they are brushing by the fact that the method debuted in baseball!

Seems like an awesome model to put in place, if you guys want a good film/book to follow, look at "Moneyball". Its based on baseball where a team with low finances win over 20 games of baseball in a row to reach the playoffs despite having one of the smallest budgets. Feel like looking into this more, really interesting.
I reckon this system will thrive in semi pro leagues because it is a lot harder to judge the players, what to expect from teams etc. I might see if I can get this system in at my local club
Alex Rochester yeah that is an issue, but you can still get data for your team so you can identify weaknesses, and also low league sides are experts at improvising so they might find a way
+Ginga I think the transfer tactic looks to be quite effective even for big clubs and I hope to see it used in the near future, maybe with Brentford being promoted. however, big clubs like Chelsea and United won't pick this up as they have money to burn!!
FC Midtjylland has already 2 League titles now and have beaten United at home in knockout at Europa League and is about to win for the third time and still has great chances to win the cup aswell. Our signings have been exceptional and we have sold players for so huge prices, so it’s going absolutely amazing in FCM.
7 years later, 11th in the Premier League. Incredible. Well done lads.
