First video on this topic that I fully understood how it's supposed to work. Others just gloss over it. Thank you so much, it will be a great help!

Another question, how did you get your housings so clean and shiny?!

It seems to go by loads of different names, but i call it bead blasting. its glass bead in water and that is pumped out of the gun with compressed air to give it more power. I think its a brilliant machine and we are lucky to have one at work!!! maybe the question is how long will the finish last?

Is it safe to assume that compression of the gasket and hylomar after torquing and re-torquing do not need to be included in the calculations? Also, I have seen other folks do this without the diff cover in place yet, which seems to make for easier access and visuals. Do you have a reason for preferring the way shown? Thanks for taking the time to clarify this murky area. The manuals do not do it justice.

Hello and thanks for your comments, i spent a while trying out different gaskets and with each one i measured before and after tightening and to be honest i couldn't measure any difference, so i didn't include and crush value. The hylomar may have made a little difference but i only put on the slightest smear and re-tightened after a few hours so again i dont think it would have made much difference. I cant see a reason for leaving the diff cover off as you have 3 fasteners in that section and there are only 5 in total so would it not be even??
