    I like that video style where it goes from an intro to the opening and onwards. Perfect touch , I'm going to use that.

    Thanks loads partner, this was the most informing video that I've seen in months . I bought Screen Flow months ago and didn't know it could do all of that. Thank God I came across your video among the dozens of other demos. You have a new subscriber man.

    I used to screencast with quicktime but my laptop sounded like it was about to takeoff! 😂 Once I got on screenflow it was better and has changed so much for my biz! I'm definitely going to share this with my audience since I've never used Camtasia and they ask me a lot! Thanks for the thorough video!

    Great information, I only have experience in Camtasia 8 but as far as creating animations, camtasia can do it 3 ways:
    1) Transition same as Screenflow (wipes, flips, fades, rotates)
    2) The new behaviors that you have demonstrated
    3) Visual Properties "add animation" where you can essentially keyframe changes Such as scale, position, opacity.

    Nice Video Steve, great lighting, I use both of these apps and it really is hard to choose between them. I think it's a case of whichever one you use first will be your favourite but I think Screenflow has it for its easy to use interface, Camtasia still feels windowsque but is still an "Editors Choice" for screencasting. I wish Camtasia would give the option for a lighter interface because I'm not a fan of the dark GUI.

      Rob Sharp Humble Bundle is the name of the vendor. They do tiered group buys. The current $20 tier has Camtasia 9 and Snagit 13 and you'd get the six applications on the under $20 tiers. It's called the Up Your Game bundle as they're targeting the package at the Twitch/Game casting users. There's a display manager app and a VPN one in there too. They always do really nice bundles and sales. www.humblebundle.com/

    I tried Screenflow and had nothing but issues on my Mac Pro - seemed it had a problem with my graphics card and kept on presenting me with a blank screen. I also didn't like the fact that it buried the media files somewhere. Camtasia, on the other hand, works like a dream. No issues whatsoever and a great piece of software.

    Impressive and very helpful video. Thank you. Screenflow seemed more intuitive to me. Just the way my brain works I guess. I think I remember that Screenflow is about half the price of Camtasia. For Mac owners this may be a deciding factor.

    • @dottotech

    • @MrLuigi-oi7gm
      @MrLuigi-oi7gm 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am a teacher and my use of Screenflow is for creating lessons. Price is always a factor for me as my "tech budget" is extremely limited. B/c of that, I thought I would add that Screenflow does offer a 10% discount to educators in K-University level. So, the $99 cost of the software drops to $89.10. This may not seem like a lot, but every little bit helps! Cheers.

    I thought you did a great job of discussing these tools as video editing options - but you didn't discuss screencasting. By definition this is not screen casting. If so, Adobe Premiere would be considered screencasting. Otherwise I thought the presentation was good. Now back to my search for screen casting software.

    I thoroughly enjoyed the video and found it very informative. Quite impressed. Thanks so much for giving an inside look to these two programs. I tried Camtasia and loved the text effects and the ease of use. I purchased it immediately but had problems with choppy video. I am running an HP laptop that I believe to be a little under powered for this use. I returned the software but honestly I think/hope it was my machine because I haven't seen any other options that worked as well and easy. I am thinking of of buying a Mac soon and will consider buying the Mac version. One quick question. Have you had any problems with choppiness or lag with Camtasia. Again, awesome video appreciate the info.

    Hey Steve, I'm wanting to screen cast while implementing 2 different web cams (1 normal view and a 2nd angle side view) that I would cut back n forth from when editing. I want to be able to look over at camera number 2 to call attention to important statements. Is this possible?

    • @dottotech
      @dottotech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but you need to record the 2nd angle in a separate file and import it into the screencasting document. You can't multitrack record into a single document.

    • @steveedelen3251
      @steveedelen3251 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you are saying to make it simple just roll another camera for the b angle angle, snip n trim the clips from it, and drop them in my timeline where I want them? I dont know why I didn't think of that first. Seems simple enough. You gotta admit it would be sweet if they added multi cam functionality though.

      Thanks man I will check that out out of sheer curiosity. I went ahead and got Screen Flow and I like it so far but think I think I will only use it for screen recording and call outs of the Cursor as well as on screen keystroke display. After experimenting with it I am thinking about pulling my screen grab clips into Final Cut Pro X after doing any animation or call out effects and then doing my trimming etc on there. I'm just quicker with Final cut Pro X because I have all the short cuts locked into my brain. lol
