Great video. Can't tell you how refreshing it is to see misses included. Most other channels are advertiser driven & all guns hit all the time. Knowing your skill level by watching you with other guns, it helps to determine how accurate a gun is because that miss variable is to often left out. Noticed the Gamo still has a noticeable twang, probably to do with the plastic stock. No way on this earth I'd spend money on a plastic breech airgun for myself but definitely a good gun to learn on for teenage kids.
Another great Video showing the joys of break barrel rifles of not necessarily from the the most expensive range. I restored a 1971 BSA Lightning a few years that had been abused by other over the years - banana barreled by being shot with the barrel open. After straightening the barrel and giving the action a thorough tune - spring & guide, new piston seal and polishing the internals - it shoots absolutley beautifully, along with being light and very pointable. After watching this episode....I'll be taking it to the club this morning! Keep up the great work.
Thanks, Steve. Your Lightning sounds like a fun gun. Bringing a gun like that back from the dead is a very satisfying endeavor. Congratulations, my friend.
You don't need to break the bank in order to dip a toe in the water to test whether or not airgunning is going to be a hobby of if the airgun will be a an amusement for lazy afternoons. There's nothing wrong with the Varmint. It's definitely a good buy. Thanks for watching, my friend.
Gamo synthetic stocks are definitely alot lighter than Crosman's! _Both have their advantages and weaknesses but Gamo definitely got an advantage on the weight by using more plastic_ Mine is tuned down to right arround 12ft lb and it is not a bad shooter even without any guides and stuff (The spring was hella bent when I got it out tho)
One of my favorite features of the Varmint is the weight to power ratio. It's the best that I've seen yet. Of course, it took a lot of plastic to get there Always a pleasure, my friend.
They have a new version with a bigger spring now in .22, $110 currently. Just got a 34 EMS Black and its the heaviest duty plastic stock I've ever seen for a thumbhole hollow stock. Feels heavier than my RWS TO6 Classic.
Hi Kevin, I have never been put off by the bad press gamo get, like you say, for the money they can be great rifles, I have 6 gamos, inc 2 IGT's, the springers I prefer more, one of the easiest brands of rifles to strip and work on. I have recently ordered a couple of Drop In tuning kits specifically made for gamos with the generic internals so really looking forward to installing them as the factory twang is a annoying, Ihave changed the trigger screws on all mine too, massive difference, thanks for the video and happy shooting.
Hi Peter. Gamo has a huge customer base with many satisfied shooters. I try not to talk down anyone. They provide an affordable choice for folks who want to enjoy the airgunning sport. Thanks for watching, my friend.
For the type, and style of shooting I do, I'm limited to an 11/12mm kill zone. 🤷🏼♂️ That severely limits my choice in Springers. There just aren't allot of rifles that can produce that kind of accuracy... 🤷🏼♂️ GAMO wasn't on the list. 😕
You know Kevin, I've been wondering if these Gamo Varmint rifles were worth buying, and now here we are. I think this one, for me, would be a bit of fun here in and around my property for target ( non-competitive of course :) and squirrel shooting. I do like what I've seen you do with it, and wouldn't you know, it's on sale here in Canada at Cabelas for &170.00 CAD which is $125. in your money at today's rates. I'm ordering this one right now, so I'll have a little more shooting fun too. Thanks for this one, Cheers. P.S. By the way, I'm getting free shipping too,..so it's even 'sweeter' :)
Great video for that Gamo Varmit. I’m going to try to do that spring tune up on mine the same way you did on the one you have. I want to change the scope but I don’t want to spend more for a new scope than I paid for the air rifle and scope together which was just over $100 bucks. I would like to get one around $50 bucks and I would like to change the ring mounts to a one piece that’s an inch tall because I have trouble with the lower scope rings , I can’t get a comfortable angle on my neck to get my eye to line up in the scope field because of the fusion high up in my spine, do you have any suggestions?
I'm not sure if the height is enough for you, but consider the Hammers 3-9 X 40mm. a.co/d/6dYbGoo A little more than $50, but it's a pretty good scope for the money, and it comes with a one-piece mount.
@@razor1962 I’ll take a look at it. The reason why I have to get a new scope and mount is because I had my Varmit propped up on one end of my workbench in the house and I was the one that bumped it and it fell over when it hit the floor I knew something was going to broke on it and the rear eye piece was cracked and just about to fall off the scope body. So I did a pretty good job of messing it up and the mounts. Thanks for the information for a different scope.
Hi Peter. I can't see that breech lasting anywhere near as long as a steel breech. I can't really predict when it'll fail, but I have no doubt that it will eventually.
Hi Stephen. Yes, I'm aware of the magazine fed Gamos. It's not the first time that a springer was fitted with a magazine. As a matter of fact, Gamo used to be known as El Gamo, and they produced a tube fed system that was employed on several of their rifles back in the 70s and 80s.
I picked up a gamo whisper wildcat the other day. It ate the scope that was part of the package it was offered in within 30 pelllets sent to the target. 😂 If you see this post and feel like it, could you post a few ideas on which scopes can handle these nitro piston 22 models ? Have a nice day -cam-
Reach out to my friend Jon at keystoneairguns.com He offers the UTG 3-9X Hunter scope, which is very affordable, reliable, and ideal for your rifle. Thanks for watching, my friend
My Hunter Extreme is in love with those pellets😇💯❤🩹💕. Gamo is really the king of affordable air guns . Many don't agree but that's ok , we all must have our opinions , I have several with zero issues .
First of all, thank you for your channel. It's awesome. I'm writing from Spain and I wonder if you as an expert on air rifles, could help me a little bit with this difficult choice: Air Arms TX200 HC or ProSport.Thank you in advance.
Hi Jose. That's a tough choice. I have a TX200, but I don't have a Pro Sport. The reason that I don't have a ProSport, however, is because they're not offered in left hand. At least not to my knowledge. It's difficult to give advice for this reason. I can tell you that the TX200 is a work of art, and it shoots as good as it looks. The ProSport, however, is a very attractive rifle as well with its sleek design featuring that concealed lever. I do know that those mid lever underlever designs can be much harder to cock. They don't afford the leverage that a forward mounted underlever does. Just food for thought. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching, my friend. Oh, and by-the-way... I'm far from an airgun expert but thanks for the vote of confidence. 😁
I've had both, but I'd take the TX 200HC hands down ! 😉 The ProSport has a thin aluminum cocking lever that tends to flex and twist. The pivot bushing tends to wallow out over time, and as Kevin pointed out a mid-lever has a higher cocking pressure making all of this even worse. 🤷🏼♂️ TX 200 format just doesn't suffer from any of these design and maintenance issues. 😕 The ProSport is Pretty, but She's high maintenance, Man... 😂
As always very helpful wise words!! BTW you can buy a left-handed Pro Sport in the following store: mundilar air arms. The lef-handed model only comes in walnut, not beech. It' s made in the UK and you have to wait for 2 months to receive it. The shop is in Portugal and it's quite famous round here. Thank you again and can' t wait to see your next videos.
Ive got this exact same gun and yes the scope is crap.whats a decent scope i can buy for it that wont break the bank? Thanks and i enjoy watching your channel
For a budget scope, I've had good luck with the Hammers 3-9 and 4-12 airgun scopes. I own several, and only one has ever failed. They can be found for under $100. Another favorite, inexpensive airgun scope is the UTG Bugbuster, but I have trouble achieving a good eye relief on mine. Still. It's built like a tank, and it can handle springer recoil.
I don't consider myself versed in the quality of guns in this price range. I own a Hatsan model 95, and this Gamo. The 95 is a little more money, but the quality is a step above. Less reliance on plastic and a nice wooden stock. I have read that Hatsan customer service is somewhat lack-luster, however. I do like the Varmint. It would make a great "Truck Gun" or a good bad weather hunter due to the reliance upon non corroding materials. Hope this is helpful.
Hello Friend two months ago i bought a hw35e, rifle is awesome, i was shooting pellet to pellet at 25 yards. but after 800 pellets i noticed my groups got wider!!! is this time to clean my barrel? do you clean your barrels and what you use for cleaning and after how many pellets…? Thank you my frend
Hi Nikola, Yes, you may want to try cleaning the barrel, but first, check your stock screws to be certain that they're tight. A loose stock will play havoc with accuracy. If you need help cleaning the barrel or with, torguing the stock screws, check out my other video here: th-cam.com/video/q6VdFyNwGSQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Jd0PLIrpoRbz6JQf
@NikolaKostic-wl7mn I'd go with 22 in lbs for the forearm screw, 44 in lbs for the forward trigger guard screw and 11 in lb for the rear trigger guard screw.

Why did the 80 do so well it looked to be a Venom in a walnut stock, I dropped out of the bidding at £420. I had hoped to purchase both the 35 and the 80 not that I need them I already own more 35's and 80's than I can shoot, but you know how it goes" they was real pretty".
