In the opening scene, where Supriya Debi is seen walking and there is big tree behind .. that tree actually symbolizes that Nita is like that tree for her family providing shade to her entire family..
This is such a masterpiece. Thank you for making this. We indians still clings to commercial side of cinema and fail to acknowledge the true art, you are the living proof of it. Hope you get what you deserve.
Every time I encounter brilliant Bangla filmmakers or authors, I feel so proud for being a Bangali and Bangladeshi because this land and language have given rise to such brilliance. I am so grateful that I get to hear it in the language the maker thought it in. Thank you for sheding light onto this masterpiece.
It's so nice to see another fellow Indian who is making quality content against all odds, more power to you and looking forward to see more stuff from you in the future
Beautifully made, I can feel your pride but I can also feel your dispassion towards certain elements of Indian society. This video is a beautiful study in the society of that era, as well as a great opportunity of hearing your personal opinions about a movie so important to Indian culture and cinematography. I really like the fact that your opinion and dissection of movies (not only Indian) matches my point of view so much, it's like watching a more experienced version of myself just thinking stuff out loud after every scene. Somehow, this reminded me of Tampopo, because it studies Japanese society and families so closely and observing how daily life elements are linked to society at large and how people perceive the normal, while at the same time, taking part of humanity as a whole.
Wow thank you so much. And yes I poured all my heart and also my sadness for the state of my country. It's such a pity that people are still exploited in the name of religion and politics. And this film reflects that
The presentation is seriously beautiful, and the voice is soothing...this cinema is not only a masterpiece but it is a very important part of my life,I think, beacause after watching this cinema ,I first realized how a cinema should be ...as a normal person,I didn't realise first all the significance, but this presentation helps to understand those.very good work,,,and thanks for making this video on this very special cinema of my life.thank you
Thank you so much for the awesome comment! This film also changed my life, and hopefully more people will watch it. Also, please share my videos if you wish, it helps me give exposure and enables me to make more videos.
I was reading this book “ art cinema and India’s forgotten futures” , the first chapter emphasised so much on Mr Ghatak and his creations besides MrRay Offcourse and I got so intrigued to watch this movie , thanks for making this essay video - so insightful and observant of you ! You deserve to be heard more ❤
wow... thank you for this beautiful commentary. the clips you played had me in awe, and the message is so powerful. i'll try to find a way to watch the movie someday
thank you for this. i still remember hearing the line "dada ami bachte chai" from another room because my mom was watching it in the living room and getting chills and even tears... the movie is exceptional in all ways and it's sad to see how underrated it is. it is definitely a movie that all movie buffs should watch along with other works by world famous directors.
Yeah. A classic for the ages and it's sad not many Indians have seen it. I hold Ghatak higher than Satyajit Ray. Not that Ray wasn't a master himself, but I just love Ghatak little better :)
thank u for such a wonderful interpretation.....have been wanting to watch this movie but always wondered about the translation and comprehension....very well narrated
I have always found Ghatak's films extremely melodramatic. But very nice video. I need to rewatch Meghe dhaka tara again. Maybe, I will be able to appreciate it more, this time around.
This is one of the gems of classical Bengali movie. The director was in too much pressure from people still giving money for his films that the end scene had to be jugglered . Producers wanted happy ending with brother taking back her sister home... That was shot and clipped off before release of the end we see today. It worked, actually the end shot and her urge to live a meaningful life gave full support to the movie
In 11:17 minutes, what you've mentioned, it's not Santoor, it's Sarad actually 😅. Coming to the point, you're an exceptional critic. Do your good job!! Could you please suggest me the site where I could get this film with subtitle?

Good observation.
This is one of the greatest opening scenes in all of cinema, ever.

Hi there. Where can I watch it with the subtitles?
Why so underrated yt channel 😕
What's the sound /song (that woman singing) in the very end of the video, which goes very slow and fades away, ?
Thanks for great video though
It's a song from the movie, and plays prominently during the end. I do not know the name of the song, sorry.
The name of the song is "Ay go Uma kole loi"
@@shuvrodevroy866 Thanks buddy

Not really a huge fan of Kashyap tbh

Oh. I was talking generally about the Indian society.
