There is a Finnish version of this, named "Erämaan viimeiset" and vocalist is Jonsu from all female band "Indica". Here is link and video includes English subtitles: th-cam.com/video/rA-XIXy5vw4/w-d-xo.html Indica has been one of favorites too and on some point Indica was touring with Nightwish,Tuomas has also been producer for Indica. One music video from Indica here: th-cam.com/video/mYxXvTpjwDw/w-d-xo.html (offical music video "Precious Dark")
This song was played to give the singer time for a dress change, the best version of this song you can see/hear in the famous Wacken 2013 performance, Floor having the Wardroom incident (losing the fight with a zipper)
I concur. There is a kind of Troy pipes solo* at the start that is cut short in this version, but you can see the song in full in Wachen 2013 version. This version is great for showing different audience reactions, though. * okay not really a solo, as Tuomas is also playing beautifully in the background but I'm sure you get what I mean.
Hello, I just want to say you are like a breath of fresh air. Your beauty is phenomenal. Especially when you are smiling, and your voice is mesmerizing. I enjoy watching you watch the videos for the first time.
Hi Red, greetings from UK When they played this at Wacken 2013 concert it allowed Floor time to effect a costume change, and I imagine that is what it is used for at other concerts...besides being a flipping awesome track! Any Nightwish song that you want to react to, I will be there! 🥰
Seeing the older gentleman with the Nightwish shirt having such a great time and some of the fans in tears really brought it home for me. ❤ You have a perfect balance of intelligence and emotion. 😊
Nightwish always brings that cohesiveness that makes for a truly great band. Even with their more serious songs, you always come away uplifted. When they let loose like this you can't help but feel their joy in their music.
I'm glad that you got to know this side of Nightwish today that explores the Celtic-folk vein. An essential element here is the multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley from the UK, who collaborated with the band since 2007 and became a permanent member of the band together with Floor, in the summer/autumn of 2013. What should be the next step in your exploration? Why not "Bless The Child", the next song from the Wacken 2013 concert after "Last Of The Wilds", in which Floor was half a second late, due to a stubborn zipper :) the one on her left underarm? th-cam.com/video/AsLKC_AUcKE/w-d-xo.html
that little breakdown in the middle... the sounds of an old English forest with the pixies and unicorns running around in the sunlight... is one of the most beautiful movements of music I've ever heard. Tuomas is indeed the Metal Mozart and a musical genius!
Hi Red, if you like this so much, you should also check out Nightwish's "My Walden" live at Wembley, it's another Celtic inspired song, but this with vocals .. it begins with Troy singing in Welsh, and of course has Floor's beautiful voice to accompany it.
I was with my wife and son and some of his university friends in Glasgow one time, we had mainly folk music on while playing pool, and I overheard one of his friends wistfully comment that nobody ever chooses metal. So I put on (the album version of) this and watched the reactions. Then let it run into the next songs, _7_ _Days_ _to_ _the_ _Wolves_ and _Meadows_ _of_ _Heaven,_ then we did a variety of other metal until we had to leave. My good deed for the day.
Let's all just take in the the beauty of this song and also the dutch windmill momma floor Jansens vocals that make this song better red so that we all your subcribers can continue down the symphonic metal rabbit hole together with more nightwish and her sister bands epica and wintersun. Thank you so much in sharing this awesome moment with you redhaired neighbor. Wintersun Alex in Texas ❄️👋❤️
They play with such joy. They are Uilleann pipes (also known as Irish bagpipes) not played with the mouth like Scottish one's. Played by Troy as well as flutes, whistles, guitars and all sorts! The swiss army knife of the band. 😂 They have a few with this sort of Celtic sound to them that I'm sure you'll love too. Not on of those but I think you're ready for The Greatest Show on Earth.
I love this instrumental also the boy`s really shine. Tuomas is one of a kind, I know that the other`s contribute also but he is totally a poet. Troy is a master at many instrument`s I especially love his pipe`s. Look how young they are here.
You are almost spor on. Nightwish have fans from 6 to 90 years. But! There is actually lyrics to this song - but it is the instrumental versions we love the most. Perfect reaction from you 🤘
Great reaction. You're right, this is pure beauty. It's my favorite Nightwish song. Check out the version from Wacken 2013, to me from a musical point it's even better, you get to hear the pipes much better. That older gentlemen here rocking out is adorable, my favorite Nightwish fan moment. Brings a tear to my eyes, every time I see him
That was so cool❤ it makes me wonder what voice play does as far as just Movie themes. I think that would be cool to listen to❤ or even like a John Williams medley sometime❤ and by the way there's been a couple of songs you've almost had been to anyway on your channel and I loved it❤##redheadedbeighbor
💯💯💯💯💯27K YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR CONGRATS PROUD OF YOU RED ❤#redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulduncountrygirl #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #27K
❤ Maybe their cover of Over the hills and far away live (released 2021). In the video you have lots of privat photos since 2012 when Floor joined the band. The live recording was her first with Nightwish in december 2012 in Buenos aires.
Enjoyed your reaction a lot! I love this song, especially since it doesn't get reacted to a lot. From the Dark Passion Play album. This is a fun video but I like the performance from Wacken even more. Troy is playing the Uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes). The magical, almost bell like sound you heard during the quiet interlude right before Troy plays his tin whistle is Finland's national folk instrument, the Kantele. Closest thing to it in the US is an autoharp or hammered dulcimer. Song is a tribute to Finland's forests and lakes. As others have mentioned there is a beautiful version of this song with lyrics in Finnish, Erämaan Viimeinen. TTK20113 has provided a link to a great fan made video with subtitles in English and Finnish. The Finnish lyrics are sung by a guest singer, Jonsu, of the female Finnish pop group Indica. Erämaan Viimeinen is one of the few Nightwish songs with the lyrics in Finnish. Tuomas has said that Finnish is a very practical language and it is hard to write lyrics in Finnish that are musical and poetic so he mostly writes in English. I think the Erämaan Viimeinen vocals are very beautiful, especially the way Jonsu sings them and I wish Nightwish did more songs in Finnish. A great example is Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan. th-cam.com/video/VSMCD39EIMc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0aLXtZ7Qf_RsWJP3. Beautiful ballad sung by Tarja at the End of an Era concert. Title translates as Death Makes an Artist. Indica is kind of like a Finnish version of the Go-Gos. They are a lot of fun and worth checking out. This is great live version of Ikuinen Virta th-cam.com/video/MMbgsHmuigc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dBMfnZwjrBO0Zw3N. They toured with Nightwish in 2007 when Last of the Wilds and Erämaan Viimeinen was released and Tuomas also produced an album for them after that tour.
If you enjoyed the ancestral sound with modern instruments also. You might like The Hu Mongolian throat singing with traditional instruments and todays. I would recommend The Song of Women. Amazing
This is a good mash-up but my favourite versions are Montreux 2012 (great shots of Troy with the Pipes) and Wacken 2013 (some of this mash up was that show). Glad you liked it - Nightwish isn't all about the lead singer! I don't think you've done Weak Fantasy from Tampere 2015 or 7 Days to the Wolves from Wembley 2015 (a Floor personal favourite) yet?
"The crowd is loving it...except for maybe that guy." He's the designated driver, but his buddies secretly slipped him some Lucy in Sky with Diamonds in his soda pop...
There are indeed lyrics to this song (although they are not sung in this performance, you can sense the feeling behind them) The raven sleeps, and now, even in the dawn, I travel Over the forests, the dormant water The moon lights up the night sky Paint the landscape, northern Shade is this a dream Or death where I can return to where the embers are already giving out under the snow When I enter the world, in the wilderness time The first snow fell twice You painted the picture of my soul This rugged beauty and infinite loneliness The forest, the sky of my childhood That longing echoes through this journey When morning comes, the night tells its story Rugged is beauty and my infinite loneliness It hugs his soul The grave of my cradle, the place of my grave The last of the wilderness is Where did the others go? Swamp witches, maiden towers And the trees in the shadows I planted Kielo in the eternal project And when the silence came, I trusted in the future The first snow fell twice You painted the picture of my soul This rugged beauty and infinite loneliness The forest, the sky of my childhood That longing echoes through this journey When morning comes, the night tells its story Rugged is beauty and my infinite loneliness It hugs his soul The grave of my cradle, the place of my grave The last of the wilderness is.
For a deep dive into the Finnish soul, here's the original with lyrics: th-cam.com/video/rA-XIXy5vw4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0wdLLIA6wrHl1YoO This is also an intermezzo to facilitate Floor costume change. Naturally, it is epic.
Last of the Wilds was included on the Dark Passion Play album. Erämaan Viimeinen was released as a single two months later and originally only in Finland.
if you like this clip style video then another one in a similar vein is for the song Edema Ruh. It is a fan made whole lot of live clips but the song is the studio version as it very rarely has been played live. If you like literary music then this is based on the book by Patrick Rothfus - Name of the Wind and the lyrics translate well to the life of a band on the road. th-cam.com/video/2BfakYUK-0Q/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUJZWRlbWEgcnVo
"that guy" has been nicknamed "the traveler 2" (there is another as well) and it is surmised that he is from the future where there are no concerts and he doesn't know how to respond

Or the moose and reindeer in Finnish forrests. As it is the Finnish national instrument ”kantele” playing.

LOVE
I discovered Nightwish in 2020. Listening to many songs.. but, the day I listen to this one, I knew that they will be my favourite band of all time 👌
I`ve been listening to them for over 15 years and still obsessed with them!!
wow wow I love this song . Thank you

So, I really got excited by my beloved redheaded woman from the mountains - what a great reaction !!!
It is really nice that they have made this video with short cuts from different places in the world. I love the song. Troy plays Uilleann Pipes.
I like the version from Wacken2013 where Emppu collapses (intentionally) at the end and Marko helps him up.
Hey Red, I would imagine you have Scotland or Ireland as an ancestral past homeland (as do I.). This Celtic inspired really music hits home for me.
I love redhair /
redhead over and over again! 😉
They play with such joy. They are Uilleann pipes (also known as Irish bagpipes) not played with the mouth like Scottish one's. Played by Troy as well as flutes, whistles, guitars and all sorts! Emppu in the left hand corner at 2:35 bwahahahaha!!! (and then Troy looks over at him and laughs!)
I love this instrumental also the boy`s really shine. Tuomas is one of a kind, I know that the other`s contribute also but he is totally a poet. Troy is a master at many instrument`s I especially love his pipe`s. Look how young they are here.
This is one of the songs that gives Floor a break and a chance to do an outfit change. Such a fun song with a magical breakdown.
Awesomeness !!!
You are almost spor on. Nightwish have fans from 6 to 90 years.
But! There is actually lyrics to this song - but it is the instrumental versions we love the most.

That was a fantastic instrumental. No doubt the singer enjoyed the break. 🎉
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘 well done Red as always
Great reaction! Haven’t seen too many people do this one because it’s instrumental. But it’s in my top 5 NW songs overall. Please do more Nightwish!

...with Jonsu, incredible! 🥰
This is great, thank you. Nightwish is music for humans.
Ya just can't miss Marko killin' his bass lines. Dude was a thumper.
Great sound. Thanks, Red, for another fun reaction.
Back in the day we called it foot stomping music gotta tap them toes
In Wacken it was break for Floor to change her outfit.
❤❤❤
🌹
A song to match your positive energy 😊
Top notch, always ❤

🤘😊🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯👍
When I saw them a couple years ago, in the US, the crowd was very diverse, I meant people from 5 states away, all shapes, ages, colors and sizes!
tnx for your great command 🤘🤘🤘🤘
There are indeed lyrics to this song (although they are not sung in this performance, you can sense the feeling behind them)
The raven sleeps, and now, even in the dawn, I travel
Over the forests, the dormant water
The moon lights up the night sky
Paint the landscape, northern Shade
is this a dream
Or death where I can return to where
the embers are already giving out under the snow
When I enter the world, in the wilderness time
The first snow fell twice
You painted the picture of my soul
This rugged beauty and infinite loneliness
The forest, the sky of my childhood
That longing echoes through this journey
When morning comes, the night tells its story
Rugged is beauty and my infinite loneliness
It hugs his soul
The grave of my cradle, the place of my grave
The last of the wilderness is
Where did the others go?
Swamp witches, maiden towers
And the trees in the shadows
I planted Kielo in the eternal project
And when the silence came, I trusted in the future
The first snow fell twice
You painted the picture of my soul
This rugged beauty and infinite loneliness
The forest, the sky of my childhood
That longing echoes through this journey
When morning comes, the night tells its story
Rugged is beauty and my infinite loneliness
It hugs his soul
The grave of my cradle, the place of my grave
The last of the wilderness is.
Oh my goodness!!! thank you so much! once again, Poetry!
You don't need a singer for Nightwish to be great.
ROCK BAND~~~~PICCOLO....now there's Two words you don't associate often...🤔😉✌
Try elvenjig/ elvenpath its similar. Floor sings on second part

If you want to listen another great instrumental from Nightwish, I recommend you to react to Moondance.
Red- I have to correct your 0:45 statement, if you don't mind...Nightwish IS a party band FOR thinking people.
"that guy" has been nicknamed "the traveler 2" (there is another as well) and it is surmised that he is from the future where there are no concerts and he doesn't know how to respond
I don't think (or maybe just don't remember) you reacting to a similar instrumental break Alpenjig.
Dude was prob. trippin' his face off
I feel like skipping through the Shire eating an apple now for some reason 😝
Meanwhile the rest of the world (it seems) listens to Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Charli xcx, etc. etc. etc....ad infinitum.
🇬🇧 Norfolk wild neighbour along for the ride 😊
