I saw the video where you caught your ROPS on your garage door, I must say I think EVERYONE has done this at least once haha, I know I have caught mine on my house cutter a time or two luckily I always catch it and stop before any damage is done tho. I got this based on your recommendation on a comment on one of your videos (couldn’t find it after). You mentioned TTWT and I checked the video out, before making the decision.
    On my BX 2680 there are some differences for anyone wondering-
    1.) the grab bar on the left fairing had to be removed, not a really elegant solution there.
    2.)The ROPS c-clamp also started cutting into the vinyl, so I had to remedy that.
    3.)Our right doors are different, yours has a billow (I assume that it’s to accommodate your loader controls), mine just looks like your left door.
    I have the windshield and wiper, but haven’t wired it in yet.

    Fit and finish could be better, but really for the price and the fact that it can be removed for summer time it works. Overall I’m very pleased with it, so thank you for the recommendation (even though it was to another viewer).

    Fantastic video as always, thanks!

      Great man I'm glad I was able to help. Thanks for all your input and advise with this cab on the new bx80 series it is great information for viewers to have for sure! I think we are both gonna love the front windshield upgrade as it will not only strengthen the cab but will be much easier to see out of as well. I'm excited to get going on all of the cab accessory installs for you guys, its gonna make it feel much more like a factory cab indeed. looks great! You going to love it especially on those windy snow days. Word of advise since you didn't get the glass window and wiper. Carry a couple rags/towels with you to wipe off the front window. It will get wet and a little difficult to see out of from time to time. I had a soft cab on my JD X739 and it worked great, I just had to wipe down the from window from time to time. Great video as always. Enjoy.

    I looked at one of these cabs for my 1026R a couple years back. Price was about $1000 from what I remember but with the added shipping cost and exchange rate to Canada, not to mention the extortion at the border for various fees it would have cost me a bit over $2000 CAD. A bit much for a soft cab. Bought a Milwaukee heated hoodie and an extra pair of socks for a lot less.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha that’s funny man cuz I bought my father a Milwaukee heated hoody too for when he goes out to plow he owned a 1023e and loves the hoodie since he also didn’t have a cab. I wish Original Tractor Cab would open a business out in Canada cuz your right about the shipping it can totally kill the good deal and I agree with you spending that kind of money on a soft cab would be crazy. Thanks for the comment!

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man, the heater is not bad for a free heater, it has no problem getting hot but the fan is a bit lacking so I think I'm gonna wire in and mount up a 120mm high static pressure computer fan on the back side of the heater to help increase air flow over the heating element.. This should help drastically with how fast it can warm the cab up. Thanks for watching!

    Great job, I'll be waiting for the accessories! My L2501 is just too tall to have a cab and get under my 7ft garage door. I've been kicking around trying to make my own, it'll just take a nice -15 degree day with wind to push me into trying it. I too would want it easily removable. You're gonna love tht snow pusher!

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! Yah that is an issue a lot of people have including my father with his john deere 1023E where depending on the tractor, The Cab may stand higher than your garage door will allow.. One thing to note is that I'm actually able to lower my ROPS even with the cab on and it even states that its ok to do in the manual.. The ROPS mounts just help to sturdy the cab even more but if I'm being honest I don't feel having the ROPS mounts on at the end of installation is necessary. If you do go with this cab I would install the ROPS mounts to start with and then once the cab is built and all bolts are tight then I would try removing the ROPS mounts and putting down your ROPS to see if it would then be able to clear your garage door.. Every tractor is a bit different tho and the cab for the L-series may require the ROPS to stay up but its def worth looking into. I was originally planning to build my own cab too but then after taking a second look and seeing how tight many of the spots would be to run the main frame (since I have a sub-compact tractor) I decided not to as I felt it would take me most the winter to complete lol. Thanks for watching and lmk what you end up doing!

    • @ironheadbiker
      @ironheadbiker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think I'd be able to keep the rops down, but it's the overall height, my L2501 site tall to begin with. Even the Curtis cab that sits lower than my rops when up, is still a couple inches too tall. As I sit on my tractor going in and out of my garages, my head clears by 5-6" so thats all I'd have to play with for a roof. I'd be close to hitting my head inside. I was maybe thinking of an open top wind block, then I get thinking, if I get cold, go in my heated garage, have a coffee, go back out. Lol.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ironheadbiker ahh I see. Yah you may be stuck with the only other option then which is building your own. • @ironheadbiker
      @ironheadbiker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I just checked, and my buddy "Country Living with the Harnish's" put that same cab on his L2501. I had him measure it and it was just a couple inches too tall. I had to go back and look at the manufacturer name and yeah it's the same as yours. Then I searched his comments and yep he measured for me and it was like 85" in front and 82 in the rear or something like that. Plus now with my tire chains I'm tht much taller. Oh well, custom time we go

    • @ironheadbiker
      @ironheadbiker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I got home and got to "work" with my tractor clearing snow I thought would've melted, but it hasn't gotten as warm as it was supposed to here in Wisconsin. I love my snow pusher, but today I got an idea for a removable back drag blade. I don't like the ones that go on top like the ones good works tractor sells, the HLA. when you curl all the way forward your cylinders are at their weakest point. I've seen many guys break their cylinders hitting stuff as they back up, so I don't wanna go that route. But I had a revelation looking at it today for a back drag idea WITHOUT full extention of my cylinders. I wish I had your skill in welding, but mine will get me by. Gotta scrounge up some materials and then I'll be rockin.
      That's my only complaint with a snow pusher is the loss of a back drag like I can with my bucket, but I think this solves that.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks man, Love your videos as well! Its amazing how much support there is in the TH-cam tractor community. As for the ROPS mounts, The manual actually states that the ROPS mounts can be removed safely if the ROPS needs to be folded down and it should not have any affect on the cab. The cab is rock solid even with out those 2 cab mounts so I suggest looking into it to see if it would be the same for an original tractor cab on your tractor but I believe it is. If you do end up trying this cab I would install it fully like I did and then at the very end once all the bolts have been tightened remove the 2 ROPS mounts and then drop your ROPS and see if it will fit under your garage door.. I was lucky enough to build my shed door JUST tall enough to where my ROPS just fits under the header with 1/8" to spare while its in the top position but I agree most people don't have this tall of a garage door so having the ROPS able to fold down is a must. Thanks for watching and keep me posted with what you end up doing, all that snow that you get you could certainly use one! haha

      Totally valid concerns, I was sent to Alaska for training and the wind was a shocker. I was 200lbs of muscle and carrying full kit, but your sustained winds didn’t give a damn! Very humbling.
      I know that Original Tractor Cab states that the vinyl panels have to be removed if the tractor is to be transported by trailer. I would certainly give them a call if before purchasing one if I were you. On my setup, there are stress points where the vinyl is under significant tension.

      @@HomeWithTheBuffingtons absolutly go with a Kubota hands down. Branson makes good machines but my naibor has one and he can’t even get parts for the damn thing and it’s not even that old. He’s broken his hydraulics somehow in his 3 point hitch as well as the spline coming out of the trans for the 4x4 and he has called and tried everyone and he can’t get parts for it so it stays a 2x4 now with a 3 point hitch that’s held up with Rachet straps I kid too not lol kubota will ALWAYS have parts available no matter what and Kubota hand picks their own engines and trans for all their tractors and equipment so it’s perfectly matched.. it’s not a motor from one company and a trans from another and axles from another like most company’s do. Plus nothing beats a Kubota engine, they are one of the toughest engines out there and put out more torque per HP than other engines in the same class.. I would def suggest Kubota, when their warentee is better and customer service. Branson makes good tough tractors tho don’t get me wrong.. but I feel they aren’t in the same league as Kubota just my own option.
      Go over and check out “Messicks” TH-cam channel, there you can learn SO much about Kubota tractors and anything you want to know about them. There is so much great content on his channel and you can learn lots of great technical stuff even if you don’t own a Kubota or decide to go with one.

    I can wait to see the soft cab & crazy sweet pushbox you built in action. Your pushbox is the nicest I've seen, better looking than factory.. I'd buy one it looks beefy. Did you get the big snow storm on 12/17? Would really appreciate feedback on both as I take delivery of a new BX2680 on January 7th. We just got 36" of snow West of Albany @1375' of elevation. I have 5 acres with 800' driveway.

      Hey Sean thanks for your comment, as of right now we really didn't get much snow, the big storm just missed us and we only got about 4", I went into work at 3am and plowed all day and by the time I got home it had warmed up and 90% of the snow was gone. Wow its crazy how much snow you guys got! My brother plows snow for the state and he actually got called out to NYC right near where you live I'm assuming, he's been out there for the last day or so plowing like a mad man. I'm really glad you liked the way the pushbox turned out man, it was a lot of work but is gonna be well worth it when it comes to plowing snow this winter vs. just using my bucket as I did every year prior. Your gonna love your new Kubota BX and sounds like you have the perfect size property for it! You'v got a HUGE driveway by the sounds of it so I would def look into getting a pushbox and even a snow blower for deep snows like you got yesterday. I'm excited to continue to show you what these little tractors can do and all of the useful implements that help make them that much more versatile. Iv got a lot of new stuff coming for the channel in the coming weeks that I know your gonna love so stay tuned! Congrats on the new BX2680, stay safe out there!
      PS. This coming summer if things go right I'm gonna build a nice big work shop with a concrete floor either off my shed or a whole new garage all together and would like to start building and selling some of the things I make for the BX, If I do this ill surly let you know! Thanks for all your support.

    Congrats, Biff! I have a BX2370 with a Curtis cab. It has a windshield wiper that is great when the snow melts on the front window. My heater burned out as it was fed by hot water from the block. I was out when we had the 4' of snow and I was post-op from open heart triple bypass surgery. I was very careful not to put tension on my chest and rip the sternum apart with the stainless steel wires. LOL How is that heater working? One review said it didn't put out that much heat. Cheers, Bob

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Bob, wow i sure hope you feel better soon! The Curtis cab heater will def put out more heat then the heater I have, but the Curtis heater is also a lot more money. Your heater most likely didn’t “burn out” the fan inside it more or less just quit working I’m assuming.. you’ll have to check for power using a volt meter to see if the heaters power wire is getting 10-12v.. if it is then it just needs the blower fan replaced.. I just had to do the same thing to the fan on the Curtis heater at work on our John Deere Curtis cab. If you don’t have power to the heater then you need to check for a bad wire or a blown fuse.. these heaters are very simple.. all it is is a mini radiator that the coolant travels through and heats up.. then there is a fan behind the mini radiator that blows through it warming the air from the fan as it passed through and out of the heater box. Best of luck let me know how you make out. It took me about 20 minutes or so to replace the fan in our Curtis heater at work once I had bought a replacement fan

IMPORTANT! for everyone... if you start experiencing a tight chest that radiates up into your neck (with or without pain),get to your local ER (skip your primary care clinic). You will be treated as a Code for heart attack and a load of tests run. That's how I found out I was a dead man walking. It started in August just walking up my driveway and getting the symptoms above. It was an Angina attack. If I hadn't gone to the ER the next attack would have been a heart attack according to my cardiologist. It DOESN'T matter your age. I'm 75 and was in good physical health so it was a surprise when they found out I had 3 coronary arteries 95% blocked.
      Back to my dead heater. The low and high speed settings work, I felt the incoming hose after running for at least 15 minutes and it was cold. The Carhart jacket and warm gloves work. I can’t remember which heater I had in this video, I’m guessing your taking about the electric heater that came with the cab? If so the heater worked but not very well.. it worked decent for a hand warmer that’s about it.. it can take the chill off in 40 degree weather but anything under that it can’t keep up.. I have since then swapped the heater out for a radiator style heater that uses my coolant system snd it is MUCH better.. keeps the cab pretty warm now. I have a full install video of that heater on my channel if you want to check it out.. just look for “cab heater install” I think it’s called

    Can't see paying over $4000 for the Curtis Cab so will probably get this one next year. I do want the safety glass and windshield wiper plus the heater they offer. I do have a small question about the heater though. The Kubota cooling system blows the air from back to front and Curtis Cab solves this problem with an addition part to keep the warm air in the cab. How do you keep the warm air from the Ceramic heater from being sucked out into the engine compartment. Thanks

Iv been loving my cab every winter and havnt had an issue yet with it, keeps me warm when I plow too that’s for sure! The heater that comes with the cab tho is terrible.. that electric heater all it does is draw tons of power and won’t even warm your hands really, I suggest going with a heater core style heater instead like I ended uo doing.. below I’ll give you the link to my second heater install video.. also I’ll give you a link for a recent video I just did of how to block off the radiator screen for a cab.. in the video I show you a great way to block it off to keep more heat inside your cab

      Very cool man, that’s a great deal for sure.. the only thing that could be differnt is the rops.. but if you have the backhoe then the Rops should be the wide rops so you should be good to go. The -1 bx has the skinner Rops or some bx’s that don’t have a backhoe.. do you know if the guy you got it from had the wide rops or not? Cuz depending on what he had is what he prolly used from the kit cuz the kit comes with either style rops whether it’s the wide or skinny rops so odds are he used the proper parts for whichever one he had and then tossed the rest.. that’s gonna be the only real difference I think is where it connects to the rops.. you also won’t be able to use or have your backhoe on once the cab goes on but that’s ok cuz you don’t really need a backhoe in the winter anyways

      The cab actually will fit the 23s the only thing is that the tie down points or brackets that go from the cab to the ROPS wont reach so you will have to bend or tweak them a bit to get them to fit.. I have actually seen it done and it works out quite nicely.. If I can find the video i will reply with the link. I would get the bx2380 cab and you could def make it work like others have.. For the bx23s you actually have to order the BX2380 cab, the only reason they say it wont fit is because the ROPS on the 23s is wider like mine so the brackets going from the ROPS to the cab itself wont fit.. what you have to do is manipulate and bend them a bit to make those 2 ROPS mounts work aside from that it should be a direct fit. Most aftermarket cabs don’t look great.. even the metal Curtis cabs look very strange on some tractors including Kubota and John Deere tractors alike.. IMO the only tractor cabs that look “good” are the factory glass cabs installed during the assembly of a new tractor by the maker.
