During the Festa '22, V explained why he hasn't yet released his music, saying he became dissatisfied with the flow of the tracks. Suga then said it was probably more imprortant to just release the music and learn from the experience, than to fret over the flow. Suga reasoned that most people have their own playlists to arrange their musical tastes. Suga also said that he does offer advice when asked, Yup, your're right Suga is a great Mentor!!!!

V's original version was supposed to be on his mixed tape and was all English. When they decided to put it on the BE album, some lyrics were changed and/or converted to Korean, and the rappers wrote their parts.
V co-produced the song with a friend of his, NIve. NIve did a TH-cam explanation of the production process, breaking down all the sounds. Having watched that, for example, I know that NIve used his own voice for that musical interlude at the end of the song. :)
You can actually hear a small clip of V's original song on their show In the Soop, season 1, because he sings it to himself while out on a boat on the lake.

Although V wrote this song to be Included in his mixtape, I’m glad it was it was in the BE album. That whole album was their emotions during the pandemic, especially since no one knew how to deal with it. I’m really too emotionally attached to this song lol
I’m not embarrassed to say that I cried when I saw this song live. Day 1 LA (the first time this was performed in front of army), there were so many army in front of me crying. When they walked down the stage during the instrumental part of the song was so powerful to see. And then the audacity to transition into Black Swan after 😭
V shines for me in this song, especially with how he ends it. Truly a beautiful song from start to finish 💜
P.S: All the members got to interview another member, so in this case Suga interviewed V. I think RM interviewed Suga if you’re interested in that. All members contributed to tracks in the BE album so they talk about their songs. Since it was mentioned here “Fly to my Room” is a track with just Suga, Jhope, V, and Jimin. The other three members (Jin, Jk, and RM) were in a track called “Stay”
Like V said, he is very true to his emotions and he needs to be in the exactly right mood for a song to come through as authentically as he wants it. He’s a very sensitive, introspective person. Honestly, I feel he has that in common with SUGA, who is also one of the most emotionally vulnerable and authentic members in his songwriting, so I’m glad Suga could give him some advice here, as a person who is more experienced in writing and releasing solo songs. Once you’ve listened to more of the BE album, maybe you could react to the other 6 interviews too? They’re all super fascinating.
Blue and Grey is in my top 5 favourite songs of all time, it was released during winter of 2020 when so many were dealing with extreme loneliness from the social isolation (still ongoing now of course) and I’m so grateful to him for sharing it. It feels so comforting, like someone silently sitting next to you and listening to your troubles. It’s still my go to comfort song when I’m lonely or depressed
Not only Jazz, but I could see V singing Big Band songs (think Andrew Sisters, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby)
The first time I listened to this song (the day it was released) without reading lyrics. I felt the sadness and sorrow. I was teary-eyed at first and then came V's 'Oh this ground feels so heavier', I started crying a river.
I can see that for sure! This song is so deep, honest, and vulnerable.
Same!! And followed up by that solemn "I just wanna be happier"...sobs!! Jimin's voice is just so beautiful and sad. It really did hit so many feels at that time. Still does. I don't think a lot of people would understand how badly we needed not only comfort from them, but to express our sadness and depression and for it to be seen and to be okay. BTS have that constant revolving door of validation.

Actually recently Suga said that a lot of kpop idols come to him to ask him for advices . Also to me I think VMIN were basically flexing their vocals and their beautiful Harmonies throughout the entire album

I’ve watched a few videos that shows how supportive Suga has been to V, especially in the beginning years of BTS. As he became an older brother he was someone V could depend on to help him speak for himself within the group and in public/at events as they spoke the same dialect. As you know V is a character and some things he used to say was misunderstood by people until Suga “translated “ V language.
I enjoyed all the BE- hind story interviews so thank you for including this one. It is nice to hear each one of them seriously talk about music, they each have so much depth and talent.

A lot of V’s songs were co-written by RM (esp in their earlier days) cuz V often went to RM for advice

Suggestions for songs? I would recommend "Home" and "Louder Than Bombs". For live performances, I would recommend "Festa 2020 BTS Room Live" and "ARMYpedia". I've listened to this song several times before and it was alright, nothing special. Sometime last year (2023), I was so down. I'm having anxiety, I watched Permission to Dance-LA on Disney+, Blue & Grey got me sobbing. I never thought I will be affected by this song so hard.

'V' is my bias and not because his visuals (which he smokin' hot) what I love, is his voice and music style, several songs on his solo album which includes lots of jazz etc. The Album is called Layover.

The entire BE Album was a masterpiece and this song is one of the most beautiful of the group. It was difficult for me to pick a favorite but this is one of them. V did a great job on this song.
I totally agree!!! It is so sad people forget about it…In my opinion, BE album is so underrated.
RM and Suga have similar interviews for this album where they talk go into their song writing/ music production process, it's very interesting to listen to them talk but I guess you'll watch those when you do other songs from BE. I'm glad Suga told V that he doesn't have a narrow spectrum, RM and Suga from the start have always tried to push and help the other members to be more involved in the music production. they are all so supportive of each other, I love it.

This topic is very important, written by V and produced by EL REY SUGA, the two members of the group who suffer from depression, it is very nice because they continue to open the paths to teach what mental illnesses are and create bridges so that they are seen naturally and mental health doctors, speak it more freely without stigmas.
Each of the rap parts paint a vivid picture, so beautiful. My favorite is J-HOPE's. It paints a picture of humb helplessness, like no other song ever. Regarding V's mixtape, he revealed before that he deleted some songs, including that song he played for ARMY while driving. They all suffer from massive imposter's syndrome and the songs they write are the casualties. V's solo song OST "Sweet Night" is also good, and in his wheelhouse. You'll love it!
Loved that you watched the interview! This is a song I hold dear and does get make me feel seen when I’m sad about the mess of the world the last few years. That deep empathy and really authentic feelings is one thing I especially appreciate about the guys. The lives of this just make me love how delicately they treat it. Beautiful song and a real testament to Vs song writing abilities. That boy has been working on his mix tape for years and keeps taunting us with snippets of the tracks he’s deleting… by previewing them a bit then deleting all the files. I still can’t wait for the other 6 mixtapes a full course musical meal.
I'm kind of scared of V's delete button. I'm happy that Suga advised him to keep all the files, as it's so true that the time will come when they feel right to be rearranged and released. 💜 I still vividly remember when a fan asked about a song we got a snippet of - unofficial title "Travel With Me" - and Taehyung replied he doesn't have the original file anymore, as he deleted it as soon as he posted that snippet. 😭😭 I can't get over that song. I love it. I refuse to believe we are never getting the full track. 😭 I really hope he took Yoongi's advice to heart. I can't stand to think how many gems would be lost from the world otherwise.💔
I was very pleased to see you react to the interview between SUGA and V. Your take on it from the standpoint of a singer songwriter was interesting. I hope that V will take SUGA’s advice to heart. He reiterated that advice at the FESTA 2022 dinner so hopefully we’ll see V finish what will now be his first solo album rather than a mixtape to launch his solo career. The concert version of Blue and Grey was so beautifully staged from their outfits to the set. They all perform beautifully but for me Jin stands out with the perfect tone for this touching song. The transition into Black Swan was seamless. Thank you for letting that continue to the end.

every time V writes and composes a song it's always amazing, it just depends on his mood to release the song, he really likes to write it in English, many of his songs are in English, maybe because so that all ARMYs around the world can enjoy it, and BTS has 2 the person who has the unique voice of V and jimin, i like them both, Borahe 💜

I also loved seeing Suga as the mentor. He applied just the right amount of pressure to encourage V to keep working on his mixtape and yet was so understanding of V’s creative process exploring being a new songwriter surrounded by some amazing songwriters and producers within BTS. It would be hard not to feel overwhelmed but Suga offered such good advice. He didn’t flex. He just listened and asked some great questions.
I hope V takes the plunge and follows SUGA’s advice and goes for it. It would be great to have an album from him very soon.

In the live performance, Blue and Grey was the perfect lead in to Black Swan. The songs may be different, but they compliment each other so well. Not like two sides of the same coin, but more like they move through the world hand in hand. To be honest, Blue and Grey feels like Tae (it has his energy and flow; his essence in a song). Whereas Black Swan is Jimin (his grace, energy, and his essence distilled into music and motion).
I wish Tae could see what we do in the beauty of song writing. His mixtape, which will now be a full album, has been in the works for so long. But he never seems quite satisfied. At this stage it's hard to tell if he's just being too hard on himself and his music - too much of a perfectionist - or if it is just missing that one song , or one voice, that will bring it all together. Whatever it is, I'm looking forward to the finished result.
In fact, it's Tae's album I'm looking forward to the most. And Yoongi's. And Jimin's. Oh, and Jin's will be beautiful. And Namjoon, when he sings he has such a melodic voice; and dynamic rap. And of course Jungkook is just amazing.💜
I would not be surprised if there was a strong jazz/blues vibe in Tae's solo album. Especially given the type of music in his playlists (as seen on his VLives, etc.). He has a strong jazz vibe in what he listens to; from more modern styles, to the classics like Etta James. I love his taste in music.💜

Sorry I went on so long. Sometimes my thoughts take over, and I don't know how to stop them. Or even if I should. Thank you for your wonderful reactions, they are so thoughtful and in-depth. And like you, I loved the interview with Yoongi and Tae. I love the way their minds work; and they are the two I relate to the most. Probably because I am like a mix of equal parts Yoongi and Tae; with a large dollop of Namjoon; and a decent sprinkling of Jimin. Which sounds weird I know... But you get what I mean.

Blue & Grey, probably one of the most beautiful and saddest song I have ever heard. First couple of times I listened to it, I cried. I mean get down and bawled my eyes out ugly cry it hit me so hard. Been there, to many times to count. I can listen to it now though without the ugly cry, still can bring tears to my eyes but for the sheer beauty of the song and lyrics.
Now the real treat was Black Swan...seeing it performed live was so awesome. I have one question for you John, can you feel the energy they give off through the screen? I mean really, I have watched many other bands through "live concert footage" and none have been able to "pass" their energy through the screen like BTS can. It's amazing!! There is nothing these young men can't do!! They are just that good singing, dancing, yes and rapping and their visuals wow!!

V, he might not have released his proper full mixtape just like the other members but the songs that he produced and released mostly is for Kdrama and they are very successful songs. V might be pressured but not with other members probably with himself he needs to beat his own record.

Background to this song: Tae said that he had written it because of the pandemic, but since mid to late 2019 there were situations where you could feel he was not alright, he stumbled on the red carpet, he looked like an automaton, he also was very withdrawn.
The English version hits different and I think it hits deeper.
As for his mixtape, he has said recently that he has deleted all those songs - even the songs he teased us about on his twitter and IG.

You know what I just saw a video of how BTS made their BE album by fandoms unite surprisingly V did a lot of things and gave a lot of ideas when I say a lot I mean it . He was the project manager and the visuals director and he's the one who thought of LGO concept...etc . I'm just so proud of him I like him even more now

From the moment I first listened to BE this song really stood out to me. I love it so much. I also am really, REALLY looking forward to V’s mixtape. His personal music taste as well as the style of his own music matches mine very closely. Since this interview he has told us that he binned the lot and was starting again😢. A few months ago he posted an IG story (and then promptly deleted it) of another beautiful song he had decided to bin. Funnily enough it uses the same organ melody that later appeared in Yet To Come.

@@JohnReavesLive I think they are each perfectionists, living and working with other perfectionists. They are constantly saying ‘it could be better’! I think Yoongi is the most practical - he has, of them all, the most ‘suck it and see’ mentality I think.

The first time I heard this song, I couldn’t stop crying. It came out during the pandemic and it completely explained how we all felt.

This is an incredibly touching song. I hope it brought hope to many who were devastated after losing a loved one in the pandemic. I was thrilled and moved that they found a way to incorporate it into the PTD concerts. Great reaction, thanks!💜

And yes Suga kept encouraging him, all the time.. But he can't make up him mind.. And he grows and changes as a person, so the mixtape he stated 2 years ago.. It might be completely something else when it finally comes out.

Blue&Gray, "Don't say it's okay because I'm not okay." I love this part. When I feel anxiety and depressed, some people say "Don't care such a small thing! You are okay!" Trying to push me up sometimes hurts me. Feels like I'm forced to behave as I'm happy.
Taehyung knows this feeling so we can share this scar. Appreciate him to tell us his inner voice through music.

All their voices have it's own vocal colors which amazes how they are able to blend and harmonize so well.. that includes the rapline too.... I'm so excited to see and hear all their solo songs.. J-Hope was really a surprised and JITB is definitely a masterpiece... Among all of them, I'm more excited for Jeykey! As we all know that man can do and vibe with any genre.. So I'm so excited what he'll bring in the table to surprise us all. OH! Same goes for Jimin, I'm excited what he'll focus on.... For V, probably more on blues anx jazz, but we'll never know, it could be different. And of course, our Jin, as he said, he'll be the last to release his solo album as finale... UGH!!! So it seems I'm so excited for their solo song.. just to add, as yoongi now having vocal lessons, maybe will get an R&B yoongi in the future too... And Leader will always gonna hit us with his lyricism and depth!!! YEAH, I look forward to all their work!!! OT7 for the WIN!!!

Love your reactions. Blue and Grey is very close to my heart. The first line grabbed me and took me on an introspective journey. I battle anxiety daily and the pandemic added a lot of stress and uncertainty on top. I felt this song reflected exactly how I felt then. Life Goes On is the uplifting song that I needed but Blue and Grey is the one that lets me know I am not alone.
The interview conversation of Suga and V was very eye opening. Seeing V on stage you think he has all the confidence in the world, but his honesty about the pressure and how limited he feels shows different. Suga is a great mentor and a supportive brother. Tae admires the rap line and respects them so much as talented lyricists and producers.
I'm looking forward to V's mixtape a lot too.

I agree with you about SUGA being a great mentor and having lots of experience etc. so the following is not about that. I just wanted to point out something when on the subject of younger/older in BTS.
It's often so much talk about someone being the youngest or oldest or younger/older or maknae line or hyung line etc. so it feels like the difference is huge but honestly now when they all is around mid 20's to 30's it's not that much of a age difference as when they were teenagers and the oldest was 20.
They are born between December 1992 and September 1997 thats a little less than a full 5 years, that's not a lot.
My siblings and I were all born within a span of 6 years but after everyone were in their 20's and especially near mid 20's and up it was no longer really a noticeable age difference. But as kids my oldest sibling was "SOOO mature and old" in my eyes but now we are all the same age.
Just wanted to share this because sometimes people make it like the difference is so huge.
But for example between Jin and Suga the actual difference is just 3 months, dec 1992 - Mars 1993.
And hyung lines RM and j-hope is born only 1 year after maknae lines Tae and Jimin.

Just forwarded this to my 47 yr old metal head! I dared him to watch it. We will see if he does. I found you for PTX reaction and hope you don’t totally abandon them, but I also love BTS. I first heard PTX do Butter x Dynamite and it interested me, but I think it was either Mic Drop, Fire, On or Run BTS. I don’t remember which I saw first, but it doesn’t matter because ai quickly heard them all the same day. Once whatever song got me, I was hooked. And getting to know their journey and more about them I’m done. These kids are addicting! If you haven’t seen acted to “Jungkook the Main Vocalist of BTS” or “Jungkook’s artistic side -painting and drawing”… I hope you will watch them.

The interview, they have one for each member, they interview each other. About V mixtape.. He talks about it since,maybe more than two years:)) he keeps working on it. Blue and gray was written for the mixtape, but since he keeps changing the track list and this song was fitting on their Be album.. They made it a Bts song. We don't know how was exactly with just V as, at least I think that the rap verses were written independently, as usually..
About songwriting.. I kind of got that Suga is somehow more relaxed, "it doesn't have to be perfect".. If interested watch the interview between RM an Suga from that series...

You really need to watch every BE-hind Story interviews, when the members interviewed each othet. But please don't take the link that summary all the interviews. There are 7 interviews. It will take long but its worthied.
