    It's crazy that a 73-year-old Daltrey still has the lungs to knock it out of the park, especially after his throat surgeries a decade or so ago and Townshend just hasn't lost a step in 50 years,

      It is now 2022. 15 years later, Daltrey is 88 and still touring.

      I agree! To continue to tour for this many years and to sound this good is just awesome! I am a big fan of The Who and I get to play a few of their songs each weekend. I keep it on as I work from home during COVID. Can't beat it! Sounds great ! Pete's Guitar sound is awesome for me , and it really help me recover from cancer, with all this time at home. The Tommy album with the Amazing Journey is a good example of a real Who jam sessions.

    Bands like The Who, Stones, Zeppelin, they're all in their own class. Each has reached something most bands never will. They are the original rock innovators not that there weren't those before them, they are in their classes too. They all are. People may forget how diverse the Who really are. It amazes me. I remember hearing Call me Lightening when I was a kid and totally dug that song. Then came pinball wizard. Then came me learning to play guitar. The Who music was one of my biggest and earliest influence. Townshend taught me how to play guitar by listening to his records and downright blowing me away as I got into them deeper and deeper. He is no doubt my biggest influence. They are such an unbelievable band and are still kicking. Thank God for that.

      @mikehughes8067 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well this is all a matter of preference anyway. When you look at the history of all these bands, The Stones are clearly number one in longevity, tickets sold etc. In the 70s they were widely recognized as the world's greatest rock and roll band. The Stones and Beatles have been widely regarded as the top two bands in rock history. Don't get me wrong I love The Who and Zeplin and many others but the Stones are kings in this world.

    • @lazetanqn
      @lazetanqn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike, y don't like the stones very much, but, as you said, is all a matter of preference.I think don't exist the good music and the bad music, only exist the music that we like and the one that does not. I was just kidding

    i m an enormous stones fan. when i see the who, which i have now seen around 10 times in london, i m constantly reminded of why they are so much much btter then my beloved stones. pete’s skills are amazing. richards never ever played like that. and certainly not ronnie. the stones are jagger s band. his voice and charisma are 10.000 times roger’s. but the quality of who s songs is superior. the texture of their songs cannot be compared. i think it s the difference between r&b and blues. nonetheless i adore them both.

    • @robertbykowski1398
      @robertbykowski1398 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing is that Pete has always been a proficient and highly underrated guitarist, in addition to his brilliance as a songwriter. As much as I love the Stones (and I DO love them), Keith's guitar playing has always been mostly recycled Chuck Berry licks and country licks. He's not a virtuoso. Pete is, in my opinion. And Zak Starkey is by far the best drummer they've had since Keith Moon's passing.
      However, I definitely feel that Roger's voice has noticeably and permanently deteriorated, not that I could do any better if I was 73 years old. But the band is stretching it past the boundaries of credibility, especially with the lack of new material. I had no problem with them carrying on after Moonie's passing -- in fact, I thought the 1979 tour was one of their best musically. But John Entwistle's thundering bass work is sorely missing, and his death probably should have closed the door on the band for good. The lack of variety in the set list also continues to dog them. Because of the love and respect I have for the Who's music and history, I just hate to see them turning into a nostalgia act. Same goes for the Stones.

    Dude is a drummer, almost like Keith was, huh ?
    He does Mr. Moon justice, but,
    Sorry to say, Keith Moon will never be replicated.
    Impossible.
    He was a human drum machine extraodinaire.

    Saw them in the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium, maybe 1990..somewhere in there. It was a Tommy Anniversary Show. Roger in his 70s is still a force and frankly still in the top 5 rock voices of all time. Pete is THE MASTER, and his brother is tremendous. They have a new album coming. I can't wait!

    IMO, out of all the others (Kenney Jones, Simon Phillips) Zak Starkey is the best fit as drummer for the band since Keith Moon has been gone. Jones and Phillips are outstanding drummers, but Zak brings the right amount of energy and his style is better suited for the type of music The Who plays. Moon gave Zak his drum kit when Zak was a kid, so maybe something rubbed off.
