    judo black belt here. this move is not allowed in judo because it's highly effective.
    this move works all the time, but it will get you disqualified in a judo tournament.

      Temujin if you’d have listened...he clearly stated it’s illegal in judo

      As long as you don’t grab the leg while you’re both standing, this move is allowed.
      What isn’t allowed is holding onto the same side lapel with both hands for more than 5 seconds.
      To do this technique in judo, you have to get your grips and attack right away and only grab the leg while your opponent is already on the ground.

    Question:
    When you are dragging your opponent to you: is it more pulling with your arm or dragging him down with your momentum?

    I'm a white belt in BJJ and have been training for almost 10 months now. I have a background with Shotokan karate, but no judo or wrestling and we have not trained many takedowns yet. This is really cool! I have to try this soon. Thank you!

    Thank you so much for this great takedown! I am a 2 stripe white belt who sucks at takedowns.
    But with m this technique I took down two blue and a purple belt today😁
    It is sooo great as you can pull it pretty surprisingly and from quite a distance. Thanks so much:)

    Does it work in no gi?

    • @skankhunt-em3pi
      @skankhunt-em3pi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No. His collar is an artificial handle. Part of the reason I don't like wrestling with a gi. It's why the best wrestlers wrestle in singlets, no artificial handles and clothing to hold on to. If you grab clothing it builds horrible habits, and let's be honest a skilled grappler wouldn't need to pull clothing to achieve superior position. No gi all day.

    Some good and simple ideas... but very sports oriented. I cant help but laugh sometimes when I see two guys bending at the waist with their foreheads touching in sport matches.

    • @killersalmon4359
      @killersalmon4359 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dunno - any takedown which makes the guy face plant probably has some degree of street applicability; on cement, it would probably be pretty devastating.
