- While walking down the streets of Kamurocho, Kiryu overhears two women talking about a fortune teller. Kiryu dismisses it as something that is ridiculous, but he is in for a surprise once he personally meets the fortune teller.

See a sidequest like this is way more satisfying when done in a prequel than in a game trying too hard to build itself up as a franchise by saying what's gonna happen in future games that have not been made yet that it barley has content on its own and then gets canceled or just drops the ball hard like Deus Ex or Assassins Creed, where as here knowing everything Kiryu has done by playing it myself all those references are such a treat and just feels good.
I liked Kiryu going "THAT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN YOU STUPID PERSON!" and I was just sitting there like "But it will tho".
Joel Rodriguez Yeah, I mean the sidequest is fine but this is less of "ooh, that's gonna happen?!" and more like "yeah, we're just referencing the games that already exist since its a prequel".
I wonder how things would've gone if Saejima and Majima had gotten readings from her before they went to do that job...

Well if Majima wasn't punished and put in Sotenbori, Makoto would be dead. There would be NOBODY there to protect her. The Dojima family would get her, they'd be powerful, and Dojima would have won, taking over the Tojo.
Things had to play out the way they did. Just think about that. Lee wouldn't have been enough to protect her, because in the end, he wasn't. They would just have offed her and be done with it.
@@Supperdude9 well no Shimano's plan would have changed. He only pulled all that cause he thought Majima and Makoto would fall for eachother. The kill order on her was to make her eventually hand the empty lot to Shimano.
@@Usernamesdontmatter1 Who? Who else did Shimano have besides Majima who was legend status (or turned out to be legendary)? Majima proved he was the best soldier Shimano had by far, as he was the only one who pulled fame for Shimano besides Shimano himself. Shimano saw that in him after putting him in the hole and seeing he didn't break. Shimano had NOBODY better than Majima, and he knew it. Even Shimano's sworn brother kept failing where Majima kept succeeding - to the point where Majima almost single handledly took out Dojima on his own. Shimano had nobody even close to the level of Majima. The only other guy was in jail. And that's the fact about Shimano and his boys.

Man, I didn't had a clue about what this Fortune teller said when I was playing Zero.
But now, that I played them all, this is both funny and depressing.
Funny because, like Kiryu, I wouldn't believe it. Depressing, because Kiryu is still young here, and completely clueless regarding the tough life ahead.
When you think about it, throughout his entire 30 years saga Kiryu probably only have about ~10-12 years of respite. The first 7 years after 0 seems pretty smooth, but he most likely lost his real estate after the bubble burst. Then he spent 10 years in the slammer and lose both his crush and brother right after he came out. Then he got a couple of years with his kids but has to distance from them to protect them, which leads to him faking his death and unable to see them ever again
No wonder that guy became homeless. Kiryu just beat him up to the point all of his money would fly everywhere.

Its even worse when you consider that the only reason he's buying all those buildings in the first place is because of the Japan Asset bubble that's just about to pop in the next decade after that sidestory.
I take it things wasn't going well even with the buildings.
Considering that the fortune teller's predictions have been spot-on and that Kiryu bumped into someone whom he'd tangle with decades later, I wish that Kiryu would chat about the future with the old lady again if she's still alive.
Probably dead at that point. By the looks she’s around late 60s-early 70s. The earliest he could realize the prophecy was true (assuming he still remember them) is most likely after he adopt Haruka since him taking the fall for Nishiki can still be chalked up to coincident. By that point 17-18 years has passed so she might very likely has died
@@KhangNguyen-ij4xh While that is most likely, let's not forget that a small handful of Yakuza characters were pushing the age of 100. The late Heizo Iwami from Yakuza 6 is one example.

Of all the references there's none specifically to Yakuza 4. Weird, but then again Kiryu was barely important in it.
I thought the wrestling on Okinawa was referencing the fight Saejima and Kiryu have in yakuza 4
@@Nicole7073. I thought it was referencing Yakuza 3 when Kiryu and Rikiya dressed up like luchadors and had a play wrestling match for that kid of Kiryu's who loves wrestling but has asthma and can't do it himself, but who knows.

@@thenekomancer3867 I was too lazy to rewatch the video to refresh my memory on the fortune's exact wording, but viper definitely means Rikiya yes. So there's still no references to Yakuza 4 in there.

I nearly screamed in excitement as she basically predicted and made references to the other yakuza games.
For their first time playing Yakuza 0 before any Yakuza series will NOT count it as Spoilers.

I started with Yakuza 0. The only thing that stood out for me was the one about Nishiki and being locked up for something he did. I then found out what that meant a few weeks later
by the time I started with Yakuza Kiwami 2 I had already forgot all of what she said tbh
Its not really much of a spoiler for first timers. They keep it relatively vague.
I started with 0 and I encounter this substory on my first playthru.
I personally didn't think TOO much into it at the time. But, I did start to wonder if anything she was in the fact the case in the other games. After playing through the entire series within 7 months, I finally understood every single reference she stated.

All those continuity nods and references, holy shit...! It's little things like this that make me love the Yakuza series even more than I already do.
For those who don't get the references:
*SPOILERS:*
-*Future:* She's referring to Nishiki killing Dojima, and Kiryu taking the fall for him, and going to Prison for 10 years, which kickstarts the events in Yakuza 1/Kiwami.
-*Family:* She's referring to Kiryu taking in Haruka as his adopted daughter at the end of Yakuza 1, and Kiryu ending up taking care of 7 other orphans later in Yakuza 3. The 'viper' in Okinawa probably refers to Rikiya, a man with a snake tattoo on his back that Kiryu befriends in Yakuza 3 and later dies.
-*Career:* She's referring to Kiryu becoming a Cab driver in Yakuza 5 after he's convinced to leave Sunflower Orphanage.
-*"Legend"*: She's referring to how Kiryu becomes known in the Yakuza underworld as "The Dragon of Dojima" in between the events of 0 and 1.
-*The Young Man that's entangled in Kiryu's fate*: That kid is Ryuji Goda, the man who would become the main antagonist and final boss of Yakuza 2, whom has heavy ties with Kiryu's past regarding and incident he was involved with that led to the murder of several Jingweon Mafia members from South Korea. Ryuji is also the half-brother to Kaoru, Kiryu's main love interest in Yakuza 2.

I get fight with Ryuji as Majima when Ryuji taking pants of school hooligans who bully younger school boys. After that as Kiryu i get that side-story by accident... And meet Ryuji again! Fucking lol! Also: When Majima fight with Ryuji... Ryuji using Dragon Style.

Developers were nice enough not to spoil anything from Yakuza 6 at least. But we all know (at least the Yakuza series players), everything was down straight. I lvoe the key words she used to put special points... and that option about how much is worth the kid (we know how much is worth Haruka's pendant). :P

They're in English, they're just on PS2 instead of PS3. You might be thinking of the Yakuza 1&2 HD Collection that's on PS3 and Wii that's only in Japanese.

she literally revealed almost the important parts of what happened in the yakuza series
When I stumbled this substory. My brother said “Oh god…” because he played the Kiryu Saga (minus both Judgments and 7). At first, I was confused, then I said “Let me guess, it’s foreshadowing the games right?” He said yes straight away.
I remember doing this sub-story cause i was just curious about this. Had no idea what she was talking about nor who that guy was (never did Majimas sub-story with Ryuji). Now months after I beat 0, its kinda depressing that everything she said became true

*That one Substory from 0 maybe had some sense*

Then playd the third game i and the "gang of Kids" was there!
Then the fourth one and now im on a fifth one and again The taxi stuff and all
The whole Substory is One Big awesome mission that you wont forget for a long Time

Random Spoiler Question:
When the Fortune teller says, " Her real father" and "To atone for" is she talking about Haruka or Sayama? Both characters had huge twists in regards to their respective parents and both are close enough to Kiryu for the family portion of his Fortune to make sense. Help me out here, my memory is failing me.
For Haruka it would make sense since Kiryu was destined to take care of her as to atone for Yumi's death in the hand's of her real father Jingu and what Dojima tried to do to her, and to also channel his love for Yumi into a parental love and care for Haruka that she needed during the events of Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami and later on
For Sayama it wouldn't make much sense since a lot of people were involved in the during the killing of the Jingweon -babyface Kiryu following Kazama into the building where it happened, Kazama and Shimano acting under Dojima's orders to massacre, Kawara (aka Sayama's real father) investigating the killing while it was happening- and pretty much both Kawara and Kiryu had to atone for both their involvement in the killings -Kawara killing foreigners in Japan who were part of the Jingweon Mafia to protect Sayama's mom, and Kiryu's actions in Yakuza 2/YK2 to protect the Tojo, Kamurocho and Sayama-

I love the prediction at 2:41. For those unaware, the Japanese economy completely collapsed in the early 90s. Many businessmen who were booming in the late 80s did in fact end up homeless.
So that guy who thinks hes immune to being homeless probably did lose everything.
