Great video Ed. Could you consider making another velocity switching video for the Juno DS using patch edit where different tones can sound using the upper and lower velocity range settings found under the TMT tab.
Ed,I did everything you did exactly, but when i hit the key harder,it doesnt bring in the second sound and when I adjust the vel levels all it does it make them sound together but not offset
I got a DS88 four days ago. I'm thinking about returning it. The master volume is so sensitive. Different preset sounds have hugely different volumes. I use the slider to lower the volume of an organ setting, for example. I switch to a piano preset. Then i go back to the organ and it's back at its original way-too-loud volume. So frustrating.
I have same issue and I've just concluded that it isn't a good board for church play. The Yamaha is far better. When you layer up to 4 patches it never sounds good In the Juno, but sounds very great in the motif or montage. Also layering voices makes the sound kinda distorted. This is a shit board in my opinion and I regret having it.
I haven't seen an explanation yet of why there's an ON/OFF for each layer in the keybed? It defaults to OFF which seems counter-intuitive because why exactly are you adding it to the layers if you want it OFF?
That's great, I need this for a certain song. Can anybody explain how the negative values work so I can have Part 1 get softer as I play harder to bring in Part 2? I want to do some piano chords above a bass split, but be able to bring in a certain sax riff. Thanks.
What I would like to do is use the velocity/sensitivity with the organ sounds. So that when striking the keys softer the organ sounds softer, and when striking harder it sounds louder - like the other instruments do, but with organ sounds (I know that's not how real organs work but that's besides the point). Is it doable in the Juno DS? I hate that organ patches are usually fixed velocity.
Does anyone know if you can assign samples to partials within a single patch to do this kind of thing? I have a Reface DX that I sometimes slave to my Juno, which I would like to avoid packing up for a 10 minute open mic night session. It would be nice to make velocity sensitive samples (layers) which only use a single slot/channel in a performance, as well as being able to call up a single user sampled patch outside of a performance.
And yes, I need to get the version 2 software, rather than continuing with the old Juno Di editor that was available when I bought my DS. The new editor/librarian looks pretty deep.
por favor roland en español por favor . o no vendan productos roland en españa.(please roland in spanish please. or do not sell roland products in Spain.)
These videos on the Juno DS are great, keep them coming, Ed! thanks

So helpful thanks Ed
Great video. Thanks. But what i wanna know is how to create layers and split at the same time. Eg. Piano+Strings and Bass.
Thank you

I hope you returned it. Very annoying board.
That's amazing M. Diaz. Amazing board but I can't get it to sound good (especially the piano sounds) through my church's PA. Any advice M Diaz?
