    Holy $hit! I just got this keyboard last week and downloaded the expansions today. I hadn't got to try them yet. I write a lot of songs needing strings. I've been sourcing out that stuff using 2 composers. I'm glad to hear the guitar parts to play some country piano to. I've got 2 songs I really need to redo and then release them again.

    I have this same board. It is most powerful at the price and the capabilities within it. I will use this beyond its intended purpose as all of hip hop used the AKAI MPC 60 beyond Roger Linns’ intended purpose. This is a tool for innovation. Even it’s limitations can be circumvented.

    I vote Dan should get a bonus from Roland for doing such a great job showcasing their products, but being as he also does great demos for other manufacturers and is not a "bought" man, I doubt Roland would agree, unfortunately! :-(

    You guys really sold me on this keyboard. I was in the market of buying something like Nexus, but then I was like wait, I should just get a hardware synth that basically does the same thing. But this thing does so much more. I was debating on this or the FA-06. Maybe I'll have my fun with this then try that out in the future.

    NEED Advice!!!
    I am at beginner level and I am little confused about buying the basic digital Piano or a synthesizer (workstation) with a weighted keyboard. I have read and investigated for last couple of months on different websites in this matter. For the Basic Piano I have option of buying Roland FP-30, Kawai ES110 & Yamaha P125. And for the Synthesizer I have option of Roland Juno DS88. Now Juno DS 88 has weighted keys with many other options. I was wondering which one should be my choice since I will not be able to buy another keyboard at least for next 10 years to constrain of finance. So I need to make a decision now keeping in mind this keyboard is going to assist me for my musical learning and exploration.
    Though I am a beginner is it better to have a range of extra sounds (which is available in the mentioned synthesizer) to keep myself encouraged more? And will it be useful too to have DS88 over the DP, for those extra features, if I am not going to upgrade my DP/Keyboard?
    Roland Juno DS88 (keyboard) has the weighted Key action with ivory feel G and the Roland FP-30 (DP) has PHA IV where the latter is superior but will it be very different that I will have much lesser advantage with DS88 for the keyboard action while learning piano?
    If you suggest the DPs over the DS88 in that case which one would you prefer more amongst P125, FP-30 and ES110?
    I found something new about these DP/Keyboards that they have their certain longevity…will you please clarify that these DPs will have more or same kind of longevity over DS88 or the same?
    I know I have asked you many questions, But if you answer, it will enable to make up my mind and take a decision without further delay in purchasing.
    Thank you.
    Arjun.

    • @michellew.3691
      @michellew.3691 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldnt buy the full weighted keys. It doesnt feel right. Just buy the smaller ones. Another important thing is: How complex is the menu navigation & how many sounds do you need want? The best idea is to go to a big seller or even a convention & try it out: When it clicks you will know it for sure :-) Good luck.
      Even if you missed the perfect keyboard. Sell it & try another. Easy as that ...

      Most companies are know for different things. When it comes to synth stuff roland and korg all day. When you want the sounds that you hear on r&b and gospel albums.....lean more towards motif......You want a company that focuses on pianos......kirkswile.....Just depends on what you want....The juno is a great board. So is the motif series...if you want a certain motif board, and you feel it's too much....look at motif's mo series ( is essentially the motif series, at a lower price.) If you will not be able to buy a keyboard for a while after purchase. Buy something you can grow into. Spend a little money and get a good board (only if you are committed though).

      The tiny screen on the DS,is why I dislike it.In fact,the screen is terrible and a total deal-breaker for me.I mean...look at what the Korg Krome offers,screen-wise!Even Casio keyboards have big,beautiful display screens on them.

    • @TheRyanKirk
      @TheRyanKirk 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had one. I love many of the sounds. However, the piano and organs are a little unpolished and cheap sounding. Customizing the patches is incredibly difficult on the screen and not much better on the PC app. I wanted to play a lot of layers with effects and it was just too difficult to get the sound I wanted. Was it possible? Yes. But note there are like two guys out there that have patches you can download. They sound amazing, but the lack of community and patches shows how difficult it is. Ultimately I didn’t want to spend all day diving through the tiny screen and wasn’t confident in my ability to become proficient enough on this instrument do do what I wanted.
      And also again the piano is a dealbreaker.

    I have a JUNO DS-76. I downloaded the expansion files (DS_EXP-01 through to DS_EXP-10, JUNO-DS_XV_Patch_Collection_Bank_A, etc) I cannot for the life of me get any of these to show p when I do the Numeric + Power On thing. I even set up a folder structure exactly as the drive you offer on your Sweetwater deal. The USB is formatted and has a backup of my DS-76 on it.
    I'm just dumfounded in how to get to use the expansions I downloaded. Are these expansions only for the DS-61 and DS-88?

I read the manuals and in the Parameters Guide page 37, says the sliders can be freely asigned, but for Midi controlling inside your DAW...I guess I can route it back to DS sounds,but I need this for playing live in a lightwheight band, I can't carry a laptop around just to do that. The DS is a great synth but the Modwheel is an essential part of my playing idiomatics. Please tell me I can do it without a laptop or Ipad... ;oD

    Any nice Nord upright pianos? Nordic Pianos are so real. Even their electric pianos and organs.

    I'm little confused about the section Phrase Pad of juno ds, when i click the audio. Why the songlist is root? Whats the right way to put song list in the usb flash drive to read the entire song, if i have a morethan 20 sample.?

    hi, thanks for the demo, i would think that most of these piano , drum, clav, etc. sounds would be on the synth anyway, or a reasonable facsimile, are they not ? thanks, Will

      Hi Willard. Yes, the factory presets have most of these sounds, but the Expansion files contain instruments with much more memory dedicated to their particular instruments. Thanks for watching!

    Can this unit be connected to the zoom R8 multitrack recorder for music recording instead of using a DAW ?

      Yes, you can connect 1/4'' outputs of JUNO DS to 1/4'' line inputs of Zoom R8 and record in stereo.

    • @sweetwater

      Hi diroblo. One section of the thumb drive contained all the Expansion files found on Roland's Axial webpage. Other sections contained a bunch of preset libraries, plus guides and manuals as well. At this time, they are no longer offering that thumb drive. -_Daniel_

      @@sweetwater Thank you! I actually just bought it and it arrived from Sweetwater yesterday! So far I love it but I am trying to get in the hang of it now. I have the thumb drive in the back of the unit however, i am curious if all of these EXP libraries/bins will stay in the machine permanently? Or do i have to keep re-writing each individual expansion pack?
      Also the EXP option is not appearing on my screen after I loaded the first expansion into the unit.

    hi :) I have bought Juno DS 61 last January,2017. But unfortunately I'm not satisfied with the body tones of the keyboard and depth of the tone on stage. Can you please inform how I can purchase this thumbdrive? This is urgent for me as I'm not enjoying the tone hence planning to sell it! Awaiting for your feedback!

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dmitry. The Juno-DS has one slot available for one EXP file. There are other Roland keyboards that can hold two EXP files at once, and there's at least one that can hold four EXP files at once. But none of them can hold all of them at once. -_Daniel_

    Is it possible to save some of the presets in the expansion pack to the keyboard itself? I tried to write some of them in the user slots, but when I changed to another expansion pack the presets that I saved from the other expansion pack is muted, unplayable or something?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you change the Expansion file to a different one (thus removing all of the previous samples and replacing them with new ones), the presets you made (that used the previous samples) won't have those samples to use. Hope that helps. -_Daniel_

    1) Can you use the JUNO-DS 06's own Asio Driver on Cubase and its on-board soundcard as External Sound Card so that midi Latency is close to 0 ms? So that you don't need an extra external sound card or suffer the latency of the Realtek inner PC sound card? 2) How long do the batteries last in case you use them?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi The phoenix chant. I'm not sure about the specific hardware you're asking about, but I do know that the JUNO-DS can send both Audio and MIDI via the USB cable. So you may not need any of that to get MIDI and Audio directly from the JUNO-DS to your computer. Thanks for watching!

    Apart from the piano keyboard, will I be missing anything major by going with the DS61 over the DS88? I really want the DS88, but I barely have the budget for a DS61.

      Thank you very much for responding. Sounds great so far! I have one quick question, though. I've heard some reviewers refer to the analog sounds in the DS as sounding more digital than analog. I'm thinking they're referring to the Juno-106, Jupiter, D-50 type sounds. So I would say my question is how close does the Juno DS get to those sounds? I'm not expecting it to compare to what the System 8 or Jupiter 80 has to offer but I'm really interested in having those older sounds without breaking the bank. Thanks in advance for your time. :)

    How many expansion can save in the Juno Ds thanks for answer

    • @alicaramba7680
      @alicaramba7680 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a slot for only one. In order to use different EXP you need to unload previous. I highly recommend buying pre-owned FA keyboard for a similar price of new DS. All sounds of DS, plus modeled new sounds, two slots for expansions, better built quality, a bigger screen, full linear sequencer, more on-hands controls. Going for a new Fantom-0 would be significantly more expensive with very little extras sounds wise, though it has PC/Mac integration and plenty of hands-on controls. Another option is RD-88, though it has many compromises (only three parts instead of 16, no sequencer, no certain connectors and so on), but still could be very good keyboard for a beginner seeking cheap 88 key keyboard with extensive sound palette. BTW, with every keyboard you should learn and work with what you have and care for extras only when you really need them.
