I like to think they are slowly but surely giving max c the pot of greed treatment, with a bunch of retrains that aren’t as good but with situational advantages so they can phase out the original and have variety in decks for which one they play during which meta game.
Yeah I think that's exactly right. But an issue could come up where for the Pots, they pretty much box each other out and usually can't be played in the same deck. The Mulch cards can ALL be played, and are not even OPT. So an OCG Tenpai player could just be sitting extremely pretty right now with straight up 9 copies of Maxx C which can draw 2-3 cards minimum. And Tenpai with a a start of 7-8 cards will break literally any board there is.

OCG player here. Wanna correct some things, it's common that people from the TCG side think that OCG is mainly BO1. That is not the case, all of our normal tournaments, including Locals, Ranking Duel, and big events such as WCQ are all BO3 with proper side deck. Just look at the metagame reports in road of the king, all of them are BO3. Only YCS Japan is the Best of One. I think the misconception happens because in TCG, YCS is the premier competitive event. But YCS Japan is quiet new in the OCG and...only happens in Japan, but even normal tournament or other big tournaments there are the normal, best of 3, tournaments.

1 thing that's odd to me about the Mulcharmys is how Konami is clearly doing them as a cycle where there will be 1 for at least the 4 non-chaos Attributes, but decided to package Deck and Extra into 1. The only locations they have left you can special from for the Earth and Fire Mulcharmys are the grave and banishment, but I would have figured they'd package those 2 together for the "countering revival" flavor, and because summoning from banishment is more niche. I guess there's also flip summoning and summoning from the backrow they could use, but those are even more niche. Whichever Maxx "C" clone got just Extra would still be busted, but adding in Deck and sentencing a future card to be just Upstart Goblin against Thunder Dragons is kinda absurd.

I have two schools of thought here. One, maybe it would have been better to lump GY with Deck and Banishment with Extra separating the 'obviously powerful' locations. Two, maybe its better they ARE on one card, so if it is a problem we can 'piecemeal ban' different parts of Maxx C's effect.

Snake eyes does it with their sub effects up to twice a turn, the whole unchained package special summons from deck along with most of lab (if they have the coo clock play) and there's definitely more that I'm blanking on. The ed effect is 100% the better effect but giving it both Is ridiculous. The weaker effect is genuinely relevant in the most common match up and alot of rouge picks. Definitely is significant.

The only part where I’m uneasy is that it could encourage more hand trap spam. If you have to drop off your hand to equal to the end board you’re much more incentivized to be able to spend cards during that turn

It seems like the fact you have to shuffle back randomly means it gets (relatively speaking) better or worse based on whether you’re playing HTs or board-breakers. If you’re playing HTs, you can fire them during your opponent’s combo and still end on a big hand, but if you’re on breakers, you only get the increased hand going into next turn, since you can’t choose which cards stay in hand. Cold comfort, maybe, but even that draw effect can vary in power from format to format.
I never understood the hype around the first one, punishing specials from hand good but not great and it leaves the most broken special summons (deck/extra) untouched. Now this new one does exactly that and now with this and the eventuell GY/banishment Multchumy Maxx "C" might actually go.
See now THIS actually is closer to power level to the Roach to possibly talk about it getting banned unlike that other one that wouldn’t do anything even in a Maxx C banned format since it’s heavily meta dependant unlike this one that is SUPER generic due to special summons from ED or main deck being applicable in vast majority of relevant MUs
Of the random assortment of decks I pilot, uh... Mementolan and... ancient warriors will mostly be fine through this card? Though Ancient Warriors is a blind second deck, so it wouldn't really face the jellyfish in the first place. The original multcharmy was basically just "insurance against Floo if it ever becomes meta relevant again", and then this one fills in all the gaps it left. I presume a third one will release next that draws for summons from grave and banishment.

Something else that I don't think is being discussed enough about this card is... well... this is probably a main staple card, sure, is not good if you set up your field BUT, the effect is so strong going second that, if you lose the die having in the deck already is such a massive advantage, also, in a meta like the one we were just before INFO, having hands full of handtraps and not a starter was common enough so, having this going first plus 2 o 3 other HT (and no starter) may just be OK against everything but Tenpai.
I am still not convinced that they are going to ban Maxx “C” in favor of the Mulcharmys. Something tells me that the end phase shuffle is their way of justifying having all of them legal at the same time, since it theoretically punishes playing “too many” copies of Maxx “C” and its clones.
I think it is justified that the card is that strong. In the end, it is still more fair than Maxx "C", since the most unfair aspect of Maxx "C" (having it while already established a big board) is removed on the Mulchummy-cards. And it is justified that the card is strong, simply because it has to be to do something for the player going second. Going first is just such a big advantage in YGO. This did not even change when they changed the rules that the starting player starts with 5 cards in hand and does not get to draw a card in the Draw Phase, still players would rather go first than having an extra card going second. The only way I can think this card will be awful to go against is if the starting player has to pass their turn due to it and then the opponent can combo off without any fear of running into a Mulchummy (because the player who went first will probably have cards on their field). But I think that the players will adapt to it. Overall, very excited for the card, the only bad thing is that it will most likely be a SCR in the TCG and ROTA is not a Set which looks amazing so far, so having a very playable and strong SCR (which you will need 3 times) and potentially not that many other good cards will make it be a guaranteed 3 digit price.
One thing I'm terrified, is one of the charmies will be a quick effect to search one of the other charmies and if one of them is really strong. That's effectively 6 copies of minn C. That's horrifying.
This just feels like a more Balanced Maxx C that doesn't give someone the ability to draw their entire deck or worse force someone to pass on literally nothing.

At even 100 you're better off opening boxes. People who complain about the prices like that have no one but themselves to blame for buying from scalpers. Not only would you have more to sell yourself to make some of your money back, but then there would be more of them in the wild and more copies opened = less scalper demand = less scalper price.
I'm just so happy you can't activate this on an empty board. Maxx C felt bad, but IMO it was at its worst being activated behind a board you still have to out.
8:30 Can we even say for certain that Baronne and Savage are still going to be banned in six months when this card gets printed in the TCG? Their bans were supposed to lower the ceiling of Snake-Eye pure but they effectively didn't. Now Snake-Eye is moving away from pure builds, so the bans mostly punish decks below the top tiers. And of course the bans just don't matter to the OCG because they didn't follow suit.
I like this take. I really like the idea of slowing the game down and navigating through the (hand) trap cards. Just maybe this can lead to a meta where being being able to end on an okay board early and hold up your own (hand) traps is as valid trying to end a full combo with a godly board.
I’ve seen people say they need 3 monsters to equal 1 maxx c but they’re all wrong. 3 monsters to be LESS than 1 maxx c since maxx c has no restrictions at end phase or any of that bullshit just the words “special summon” over the word “summon”
I've been thinking about this card all day, and TBH, I think I am just going to wait to see what happens. I think, like you said, you can make an argument that this card might be okay. Like, if going second is so bad, then there is a consideration that there has to be some level of power a going second card can have that will make going second good, or better than going first. Like, I think there's a reasonable consideration that the 2nd player uses this card and has a reasonable chance to win by virtue of either fighting against a less oppressive board, or having substantial access to deal with that board. This essentially can act like the dream of what Maxx C should have been: A way that you can punish overly oppressive combo decks. However, like you said, it still seems like it could be a touch overtuned. Even decks like Eldlich stun might get you a draw off this. There's also the swingy nature of just needing to have the card in order to benefit from it. One interesting idea is that maybe it also acts as a "buff" for other deck types, like GY centric, ritual decks, pendulum sort of. If everyone is siding Fuwaross, and I play like Dogmatika or something, I've effectively obtained an advantage by playing against opponents with a limited side deck. In that case, if Konami designs more archetypes that don't care about summoning from deck or ED much, they inherently are more powerful in a game where Fuwaross is a meta staple. That said, TCGs going to make it a super and price everyone out of it, so fuck us anyway.
Im gonna take a wild guess and say theres 2 more of these down the pipe, it'd be weird if they did 3 outta four of the elemental type/attribute pairing, prolly one for graveyard and one for banish.
That's a good point with the theming, but it's weird they chose to pair deck/extra deck instead of graveyard/banishment if they're going to make 4 of them. Deck and extra deck each seem good individually, whereas banishment alone seems like it would never see play.

Maxx C coming back to the game is actually a really good idea to help the flow of the game imo, and would help other decks that are not in the current meta at least have a decent shot at competing against the monsters of the current and future meta.
I'm kind of glad that this card is what it is. If it said anything like "if your opponent summons from extra deck" or "from deck excluding extra deck," there is a huge potential that it might've not been good enough and couldn't replace maxx c.
I doubt they'll ban Maxx-c becuase now they just have 2 maxx-c's for when the hand trap wars happen of maxx-c into ash, into crossout into crossout, into called by. And while yes this might/will be good, I also see this as the massieive target for all the counters and or eating ash. so at most its a 1-1 trade which might? be able to make 4 card hands pretty good. Personally I'm just waiting for another broken fairy to make perfection appear again.
To be honest, I had to open both of them and tab in and out just to understand the changes in between them - One draws for each Summon from Hand, the other draws for each Summon from Deck and Extra. We might have a third one, that draws from GY or Banishment.
Honestly in a best of 1 situation like OCG and MD I would play any mulchurmy cards and just play floodgates so if I don't have ash then neither of use will play im not putting a brick in my deck because there is a chance I go second and even then i have to draw it.
Hi MBT, if you dry your hair with a hairdryer on high heat, blowing under the roots, you can create depth and height, giving your hair shape. Then you can brush or tease it following that shape for additional height or definition. Honestly, a hairdryer does a lot for your hair, you should use one. Sorry, just been bothering me for a while. It's not hard to have nice hair.
I actually really really like the card design. I think it helps solves deep issues of the game (unstoppable boards that makes going 2nd miserable) without completely dominating gameplay and morphing it into a maxx c mini game challenge.
The new rabbit link helps out with this card. Summon once from the extra, set either a solemn warning or a negate and pass. It still sucks, but it helps
I feel like this card won't be that huge of a problem once people find more countrrs to it. I think one of the main counters to this card beyond ash or droll is going to be giving your opponent a monster, like with knightmare corruptor iblee or click and echo.

vaalmonica gives 2 or 3 draws. If you use invitare to ss from deck that's one, then the link 1 and bagooska. If you use invitare to get the scales you still summon the scale from extra, then the link then bagooska. Without weaving ini invitare or the special summoned pendulum you won't get the full end board and your opponent still plused, and you are still on a mid deck.
A new legal maxx c, eh? Its price will skyrocket to infinity the moment it gets released as a secret and/or quarter century rare shortprint in tcg. Oh, and it also means the old earth insect will really never be legal again, so unless it's for collecting purpose whoever still has it might as well send it straight in the paper recycle bin.

imagine going into 2 4-4 material Apollousa and a 6 different attribute Ignister boss. You'd allow for 10 cards, while having 8 monster effect negates, and a 6k attack towers. If you have a deck that can perform like this, you can feel free to go into full combo against the new one. Thereal issue would be that the opponent can draw into other handtraps during your turn with the full combo, to stop you.

I think this brings up an interesting point. If we are at the point where we think drawing cards is how we facilitate going second. We by not unban Pot of Greed? I know turn 1 player would get it too but at least then it doesn’t feel like a flood gate.
More precisely, we think giving the second player more cards than the first - even more than the no draw on first turn creates - is how we make going second better. We want to make the difference between cards for each player higher, which requires giving P2 more cards and _not_ giving P1 more cards.
Upside is this is exclusively a going second card, so if you main deck it, you are going to, in the games where you’ve drawn this card (33% of the time) only be able to use it in half the games. If you have any cards on board, this thing is dead. Its also got the handtrap gimmick of if you draw it for your 6th card going second it is pain, and that will happen 5% of the time. This card will make going blind second way better because if people main deck this card and go first, it is dead.
The fact you can't activate this card if you control ANY cards on board, I already think it's fair. Maxx C is a shit fest, but it's truly frustrating when you make an unbreakable board AND shotgun a Maxx C on top.

I never understood the hype around the first one, punishing specials from hand good but not great and it leaves the most broken special summons (deck/extra) untouched.
Now this new one does exactly that and now with this and the eventuell GY/banishment Multchumy Maxx "C" might actually go.
Now we only need one more that draws a card when opponent summons from GY or banishmemt
See now THIS actually is closer to power level to the Roach to possibly talk about it getting banned unlike that other one that wouldn’t do anything even in a Maxx C banned format since it’s heavily meta dependant unlike this one that is SUPER generic due to special summons from ED or main deck being applicable in vast majority of relevant MUs

Of the random assortment of decks I pilot, uh... Mementolan and... ancient warriors will mostly be fine through this card? Though Ancient Warriors is a blind second deck, so it wouldn't really face the jellyfish in the first place.
The original multcharmy was basically just "insurance against Floo if it ever becomes meta relevant again", and then this one fills in all the gaps it left. I presume a third one will release next that draws for summons from grave and banishment.
Mulcharmy 1 is Anti-Floo and Mulcharmy 2 is Bird Floo support.

Something else that I don't think is being discussed enough about this card is... well... this is probably a main staple card, sure, is not good if you set up your field BUT, the effect is so strong going second that, if you lose the die having in the deck already is such a massive advantage, also, in a meta like the one we were just before INFO, having hands full of handtraps and not a starter was common enough so, having this going first plus 2 o 3 other HT (and no starter) may just be OK against everything but Tenpai.

I am still not convinced that they are going to ban Maxx “C” in favor of the Mulcharmys. Something tells me that the end phase shuffle is their way of justifying having all of them legal at the same time, since it theoretically punishes playing “too many” copies of Maxx “C” and its clones.
I think it is justified that the card is that strong. In the end, it is still more fair than Maxx "C", since the most unfair aspect of Maxx "C" (having it while already established a big board) is removed on the Mulchummy-cards. And it is justified that the card is strong, simply because it has to be to do something for the player going second. Going first is just such a big advantage in YGO. This did not even change when they changed the rules that the starting player starts with 5 cards in hand and does not get to draw a card in the Draw Phase, still players would rather go first than having an extra card going second.
The only way I can think this card will be awful to go against is if the starting player has to pass their turn due to it and then the opponent can combo off without any fear of running into a Mulchummy (because the player who went first will probably have cards on their field).
But I think that the players will adapt to it. Overall, very excited for the card, the only bad thing is that it will most likely be a SCR in the TCG and ROTA is not a Set which looks amazing so far, so having a very playable and strong SCR (which you will need 3 times) and potentially not that many other good cards will make it be a guaranteed 3 digit price.
One thing I'm terrified, is one of the charmies will be a quick effect to search one of the other charmies and if one of them is really strong. That's effectively 6 copies of minn C. That's horrifying.

centur-ion plays through this card only drawing the one and can combo off on oponents turn after they commit
centurion also loses to a small breeze. Dark magician doesn't give any draws but it is still a bad deck
This just feels like a more Balanced Maxx C that doesn't give someone the ability to draw their entire deck or worse force someone to pass on literally nothing.

In theory we can have any number of combinations of the 5 zones you can summon from, and who knows, maybe eventually we will be looking at not just 3 maxx c, but 31 Maxx Cs.

Not only would you have more to sell yourself to make some of your money back, but then there would be more of them in the wild and more copies opened = less scalper demand = less scalper price.
I think they arent doing different takes at fixing it but rather breaking it down into 2 (for now) different cards you gotta draw

I'm gonna try to make alternative plays through droll, so I can pretty much droll myself and prevent my opponent from drawing more than nessecary.
I'm just so happy you can't activate this on an empty board. Maxx C felt bad, but IMO it was at its worst being activated behind a board you still have to out.

8:30 Can we even say for certain that Baronne and Savage are still going to be banned in six months when this card gets printed in the TCG? Their bans were supposed to lower the ceiling of Snake-Eye pure but they effectively didn't. Now Snake-Eye is moving away from pure builds, so the bans mostly punish decks below the top tiers.
And of course the bans just don't matter to the OCG because they didn't follow suit.
Fun fact if you draw 2 of these and your opponent opens called by, you can go CL 3 second copy of itself and it resolves.

I like this take. I really like the idea of slowing the game down and navigating through the (hand) trap cards. Just maybe this can lead to a meta where being being able to end on an okay board early and hold up your own (hand) traps is as valid trying to end a full combo with a godly board.
I’ve seen people say they need 3 monsters to equal 1 maxx c but they’re all wrong. 3 monsters to be LESS than 1 maxx c since maxx c has no restrictions at end phase or any of that bullshit just the words “special summon” over the word “summon”

What about the vast majority of the games where this card won't resolve. It fails as a check to combo decks when it barely resolves.
TCG players can swap to Maxx-Sea for that deck. Take out Maxx-3 for Maxx-Sea.

I've been thinking about this card all day, and TBH, I think I am just going to wait to see what happens.
I think, like you said, you can make an argument that this card might be okay. Like, if going second is so bad, then there is a consideration that there has to be some level of power a going second card can have that will make going second good, or better than going first. Like, I think there's a reasonable consideration that the 2nd player uses this card and has a reasonable chance to win by virtue of either fighting against a less oppressive board, or having substantial access to deal with that board. This essentially can act like the dream of what Maxx C should have been: A way that you can punish overly oppressive combo decks.
However, like you said, it still seems like it could be a touch overtuned. Even decks like Eldlich stun might get you a draw off this. There's also the swingy nature of just needing to have the card in order to benefit from it.
One interesting idea is that maybe it also acts as a "buff" for other deck types, like GY centric, ritual decks, pendulum sort of. If everyone is siding Fuwaross, and I play like Dogmatika or something, I've effectively obtained an advantage by playing against opponents with a limited side deck. In that case, if Konami designs more archetypes that don't care about summoning from deck or ED much, they inherently are more powerful in a game where Fuwaross is a meta staple.
That said, TCGs going to make it a super and price everyone out of it, so fuck us anyway.

Im gonna take a wild guess and say theres 2 more of these down the pipe, it'd be weird if they did 3 outta four of the elemental type/attribute pairing, prolly one for graveyard and one for banish.
That's a good point with the theming, but it's weird they chose to pair deck/extra deck instead of graveyard/banishment if they're going to make 4 of them. Deck and extra deck each seem good individually, whereas banishment alone seems like it would never see play.
@@delta3244 I agree, I think its probable that GY and Banish would be designed as one card, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. Maybe there's gonna be one that draws when your opponent summons from s/t or sets cards via effect or something and that accounts for all four, or maybe there isn't actually an element theming at all and the next one is a LIGHT Fairy

Maxx C coming back to the game is actually a really good idea to help the flow of the game imo, and would help other decks that are not in the current meta at least have a decent shot at competing against the monsters of the current and future meta.

I'm kind of glad that this card is what it is. If it said anything like "if your opponent summons from extra deck" or "from deck excluding extra deck," there is a huge potential that it might've not been good enough and couldn't replace maxx c.
I doubt they'll ban Maxx-c becuase now they just have 2 maxx-c's for when the hand trap wars happen of maxx-c into ash, into crossout into crossout, into called by.
And while yes this might/will be good, I also see this as the massieive target for all the counters and or eating ash. so at most its a 1-1 trade which might? be able to make 4 card hands pretty good.
Personally I'm just waiting for another broken fairy to make perfection appear again.
To be honest, I had to open both of them and tab in and out just to understand the changes in between them - One draws for each Summon from Hand, the other draws for each Summon from Deck and Extra. We might have a third one, that draws from GY or Banishment.

Honestly in a best of 1 situation like OCG and MD I would play any mulchurmy cards and just play floodgates so if I don't have ash then neither of use will play im not putting a brick in my deck because there is a chance I go second and even then i have to draw it.
Hi MBT, if you dry your hair with a hairdryer on high heat, blowing under the roots, you can create depth and height, giving your hair shape. Then you can brush or tease it following that shape for additional height or definition. Honestly, a hairdryer does a lot for your hair, you should use one.

I actually really really like the card design. I think it helps solves deep issues of the game (unstoppable boards that makes going 2nd miserable) without completely dominating gameplay and morphing it into a maxx c mini game challenge.
The new rabbit link helps out with this card. Summon once from the extra, set either a solemn warning or a negate and pass. It still sucks, but it helps

I feel like this card won't be that huge of a problem once people find more countrrs to it. I think one of the main counters to this card beyond ash or droll is going to be giving your opponent a monster, like with knightmare corruptor iblee or click and echo.

vaalmonica gives 2 or 3 draws. If you use invitare to ss from deck that's one, then the link 1 and bagooska. If you use invitare to get the scales you still summon the scale from extra, then the link then bagooska. Without weaving ini invitare or the special summoned pendulum you won't get the full end board and your opponent still plused, and you are still on a mid deck.
Finally, Dragoons pass is a viable strategy.

imagine going into 2 4-4 material Apollousa and a 6 different attribute Ignister boss. You'd allow for 10 cards, while having 8 monster effect negates, and a 6k attack towers. If you have a deck that can perform like this, you can feel free to go into full combo against the new one. Thereal issue would be that the opponent can draw into other handtraps during your turn with the full combo, to stop you.

Or maybe Magia with it's 3 negates, even if it's 1 spell, 1 monster, and 1 trap, while many decks don't even use all 3.

I think this brings up an interesting point. If we are at the point where we think drawing cards is how we facilitate going second. We by not unban Pot of Greed? I know turn 1 player would get it too but at least then it doesn’t feel like a flood gate.
"Because turn 1 player would get it too" is precisely why. You don't help player 2 by giving them tools player 1 can just as readily make use of.
More precisely, we think giving the second player more cards than the first - even more than the no draw on first turn creates - is how we make going second better. We want to make the difference between cards for each player higher, which requires giving P2 more cards and _not_ giving P1 more cards.

Hmm if you are playing Cubics and you have Crimson Nova in hand with a way to special him then +1 when this card is triggered.

Upside is this is exclusively a going second card, so if you main deck it, you are going to, in the games where you’ve drawn this card (33% of the time) only be able to use it in half the games. If you have any cards on board, this thing is dead.
Its also got the handtrap gimmick of if you draw it for your 6th card going second it is pain, and that will happen 5% of the time.
This card will make going blind second way better because if people main deck this card and go first, it is dead.

The problem with stopping the turn 1 with cards like this one, is that it doesnt solve the issue, it just shifts the turn 1 to turn 2 player
So the next one will probably include GY and banishment (and maybe spell/trap zone if they are feeling spicy)
Maxx Sea challenge is now just "play against every handtrap under the sun." Unless they don't draw this, then it's just the same old "break my board."
The fact you can't activate this card if you control ANY cards on board, I already think it's fair. Maxx C is a shit fest, but it's truly frustrating when you make an unbreakable board AND shotgun a Maxx C on top.
