Heyo everyone! Finally completed the glitchless run! Will be getting the time down for this run and see if I can get new strats working in the future, but I'm happy that I was able to complete this first run here. I will do some tutorials for this run / route as well, so be on the lookout for those to come out! Next, I'll probably also do the commentated honour mode speedrun, and more other similar things, so hope you all enjoy!
I think you can afford to use the bear strat against Myrkul in glitchless. There are many things that you do that are arguable more glitchy, like skipping triggers that intended to be unavoidable, or preventing the last fight from starting even though the Emperor can clearly see you and speak with you in the cutscene. And there's also all those shenanigans in the Temple of Bhaal. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be able to kill Orin without talking to her, especially as Durge. Next to all that, using a high bear jump to crush Myrkul seems really innocent in comparison ^^
aahaha seeing my name at the beginning was a nice surprise... i'll be recording my runs following your guides! and it's a Durge playthrough exactly what i wanted to see!!
The freeze frame text at the beginning reads "Delph and I spent like 5 hours at GDQ dev'ing out how to kill Murkyl, then she spent all night for multiple days on the route before it worked, so big shoutout to her!"
Yeah you can lockpick it, but the amount of RNG checks required including a perception check and lockpicking with the need of getting Thieve's tools makes it a bit annoying compared to just solving the puzzle
25:58 feather fall overwrites astral gravity, so when astral gravity tried to reapply, it cancelled feather fall so you briefly became vulnerable to fall dmg
i did a normal honor mode but i lost due to a bug, Orin's netherstone/dagger didnt drop, it was devastating after so many hours in, so i resort to this guide here.
Just finished my First honor Run and I gotto say that after close to 800 hours, I still find new things in Bg3....bugs, mostly but still (Falling into a crevice because the game stops me mid air for no reason will always be a butt clencher in honor mode)

Took me 70 hours to clear honor mode. Very interested to see how you do it in 1.5h !! I'm already cracking up after having Laezel jump to he death 3 minutes in 😂
@@RedMage8BT Such a hard question. Personally I would suggest good% instead, for getting every "good" narrative in every act, Save all characters that can be saved and get all "good" endings for the PCs.
This gale corpse strategy is amazing, myrkul had no chance in a million years. By the way, in honor mode you can still use gale orb to detonate at the stem of the netherbrain (where there is the dialogue). It does count for honor run and skips the whole dragon + brain battle
Yeah, we can use the Gale orb, but it requires a persuasion check for it to succeed if you're not Gale I'm pretty sure, and it's not an easy one from what I recall (DC 18 or something).
@@ChronosReturns There’s no check if you convince him to not become a god and to hear what Mystra has to say. Then when the Emperor says someone has to become a Mindflayer, you ask for time to think. Talk to Gale (he has to be in your party and high approval) and he’ll offer. Then offer again at the brainstem. I can’t see how it would work in a speed run but it is an option. When there is a check, it’s actually 30.
man I just reached act 3 on a playthrough where I wanted to know what happens if you never talk to shadowheart (your tav doesn't know she's a sharran, wants to become a dj and needs to kill the nightsong) it seems I just needed to watch this video...
Thanks to all speed runners, for fine-tuning this strat. Got my Golden dice, and learned a lot.... This was faster then going through character creation!
10:42 you actually can lockpick the puzzle by lockpicking the lever, but you need to pass a high perception check to see the lever and then pass the sleight of hand check so it really does introduce too much RNG.
Yeah, there's a lot of dice rolls in the game, so by reducing as much as we can, it works the most consistently and is the best that way. You can get lucky and just pass every dice roll though but that makes the run a lot more annoying to grind for the perfect RNG.
There's a faster way to sell everything. If you go to a character's inventory, you can click on the top item, then shift-click on the bottom item, then right-click and select "add to wares." Then when you get to a vendor, you can sell everything with a single "sell wares" click.
I do know that, I just wanted to make sure I didn't sell anything important, since if you sell the wrong thing accidentally you're in a rough spot. In the future, I'll probably do faster trading, the main thing was completing this run and getting the route down.
In the morphic pool Couldn’t you just misty step up to the ledge that you normally glitch jump to then jump in skipping the intellect devoures fight that way rather then pathing? That’s what I did on my glitch speed run I used a scroll of misty step instead of glitch jumping to avoid clipping and dying to the rocks. But using a scroll or misty step cast would fit a glitchless run.
Technically yes, although Misty Step there is a considered more so a glitch because of you being able to 'clip' through the brain stem doing it, similar to Misty Stepping through the door for the Temple of Bhaal. On current patch, I believe you cannot Misty Step as well, which is why we switched strats there to frog jumping as well, but it may be different depending on characters and other things.

Died on the rooftop casting Karsus Compulsion following this video. For some reason, concentration (invisibility) stops when I trigger the scene at the top. Is it because I missed hitting the Emperor? It was pretty darn sad. It took about 5 hours to kill Thorn though. :( I will try the same guide again but going for a Gale boom.
I'm actually attempting to do this right now, but have found that the fires go out in the Myrkul fight after like 6 rounds. However, I've also discovered that when Gale dies his body apparently had a Necrotic Aura which does 1d4 necrotic damage per turn to Myrkul. I'll still beat him, but I might be able to watch the first two Lord of the Rings movies while I wait
My first attempt of this route this is what happened to me as well, basically the fire helps speed it up 3 times as fast, so you'd need to wait for around an hour and a half for it to work, compared to just under 30 minutes.
It works on PS5!!! MASSIVE TIP FOR PS5 FOR HONOUR MODE: (1) Turn OFF auto-sync saves in console Settings, (2) MANUALLY upload your BG3 honour mode save to the Cloud regularly (you'll need to close the game)....I did it every 10mins, (3) If you mess up, you can download the save file from the Cloud back onto your console and then try again. When your party is invisible, channeling the crown skips the first turns for it as you're not in combat or turn based mode for that, so you can enter in it freely immediately when it is channeled.

please make a tutorial i been trying to follow this and your "Honors Mode Speed run and Achievement Tutorial" for a while and always fail please i need help p.s. I'm new to speed run so idk what am i doing wrong
Minthara has a default starting level of level 6, letting you transform into an Owlbear which has crushing flight. Other characters won't have the levels at this point to get this Druid transformation. While Bear form can work, it would not be the same, since it's kind of glitchy and weird how we do the Bear jump instead of Owlbear which has the crushing flight by default.
When you entered the Grymforge and then left there was no cutscene of Nere calling to rescue him nor any warning about leaving the location. Dora that mean you can safely go there and out all you like without worrying about Nere unless you triggered the quest for getting his head?
I'm not entirely sure for this, but I do believe it has to deal with the fact that I didn't trigger the questline to start from walking up far enough to the area with Nere at Grymforge.
In the Nightsong Prison why not just use an arrow of thunder to knock the guy off the ledge? There is a spot up on the ledge that throws him off the ledge so you can save the Nightsong and keep Shadowheart. I guess that is too much RNG?
In the run, we don't really need Shadowheart for anything else after she joins our party, and I'm pretty sure you can not defeat Balthazaar by knocking him off the edge. Some enemies are immune to getting shoved or thrown off, which I think might happen with the arrow of thunder or thunderwave or other similar abilities if I remember correctly. Either way, saving the Nightsong here will make us need to do the rooftop fight with Ketheric, adding another major boss fight to the run which is extremely difficult, so it's better to give up the Nightsong here.
I will do a guide for sure for a lot of these new things coming soon! This route in particular is the least RNG heavy, so I'd do one for this, then there's an additional few routes that I'll cover in the future that are a bit faster but more RNG heavy.
There isn't one since no one has bothered to do one yet, it'll be pretty easy though so like around 30-40 minutes, basically the same route here but Myrkul gets killed quickly instead of with Gale's dead body
Dark Urge opens the door to Orin by talking to the butler, allowing us to skip the other fight with Orin's father to unlock the way there. Also, Dark Urge I believe allows working with Gortash without a DC check? I'm not so sure for this one in particular but that would skip that fight as well.
@@ChronosReturns I was wondering actually how tf he entered the temple without the amulet lol. I have done 2 dark urge runs and every time that Sceleritas tells me "I could have opened the door", I think he's just saying it cause I didn't see him 😂😂
hello, I'm following on PS5 and I'm at Shadowfell/Shar's Temple - the part where you have to use Tempestuous Magic: Flight to get to the bottom of the map, but I can't angle it right on the PS5. Do you have any tips or advice? The camera just zooms out so much that I cannot click where you're supposed to fly. I am in TB mode as well.
Okay, just go do a trial (any) I did all 3 but just needed 1, use the first orb Place it in the slot near the shadow cat to get to the door instead then use knock
Out of curiosity, would it be worth getting Phalar Aluve and making it sing before going to phase 2 of the Merkyl fight? It lasts 5 rounds and I think persists through character death, but I'm not 100% sure. 5 rounds of thunder damage could be worth it though since the sword is on the route already basically. GG though! This is a super entertaining run
I believe that was thought of as an idea in the early stages, but it isn't effective enough since we're waiting on enough Necromites to die anyways, so unless it's permanent it probably won't be helpful enough, there are other ideas in the works though!
@@ChronosReturns Ah, gotcha. Well I look forward to seeing the run develop! And maybe trying it myself when I'm finally done with casual playthroughs. This game's beefy, haha. GL on your runs!
Awesome work man, just curious is there anyway to use barrelmancy on the Myrkul fight by having Lae'zel as a sacrifice just holding barrels and running up there to explode or nah? If you just have to wait for Gale, then oh well... time for lunch i guess.
I mean technically you can do barrels for Myrkul as well, but you need all of the barrels and explosives for just phase 1 of Ketheric in order to defeat him. Technically I believe we can grab more barrels and explosives, but their weight is way too much to carry around enough, since Myrkul has even more health than Ketheric does (almost double). In other words, you'd need basically every explosive in Act 1 (which you can get from the Zhentarim hideout and all the smokepowder bombs from shops that you can. Even by recruiting both Minthara and Lae'zel for it, you'd need a way to bring them both in as well, so you'd also need to multiclass even more people as sorcerers to be able to skip the rooftop fight, and somehow defeat phase 1. TL;DR: Too many explosives, too heavy, probably not enough damage, and the amount of time to do everything necessary is probably a bit too slow since there's a lot of side tracks this way.
@@ChronosReturns What if you get Ketheric to repent? Can you not skip the first fase and then do barrelmancy for Myrkul instead? Even if it does not kill him it should take off alot of his health.
@@peterkrusager4363 In order to get Ketheric to repent, you need to do the rooftop fight with him, along with passing a high DC check (18). So you'll still need to fight Ketheric and take his health halfway down. Relying on more RNG like this is pretty rough, especially since it's a less than 20% chance to succeed this roll and stuff. Also, if you do not one shot Myrkul, he will start healing so you really need the one shot kill, as you will die to anything else instantly.
you complain about how long the cutscenes are bc of "your pc" but i have a 5800x overclocked to 5ghz, 32gb 4x8 3200c14 oc to 3800c14 flat, with a 4070ti on a 2tb adata xpg pro (b4 they switched the chips to shit) and you have the same load times, cut scene times an shit as i do. its the game man. loads of posts about how long it takes to load an shit.
There is some data collected by the community that does confirm differences in hardware that varies quite a lot, and it is patch dependent and has many different issues between patches. According to the data, I lose around a minute to the other top runners on cutscenes and black screen loads, in only two parts, so it does have an effect. Once again, there's a lot more things about the game than just hardware differences, including in game settings, which seem to run differently on everyone's PC, so you may be using the wrong settings. For instance, I used to run on low settings since most games run better on low, but for some reason, the game runs better on ultra than low for me, so you may need to check a lot of other settings in the game and test around to get it to run better.
Can’t believe how bad the load times are, even on PC. I know loading doesn’t account for run time, but as a speed runner that has to be so insanely annoying.
I love a good speed run that gives you time to take a bathroom break, eat dinner, and watch a couple BG3 honour mode character build guides. Bravo!

I didn't watch the whole video but... Why you didn't use Gale ot destroy the Netherbrain? It would spare some time.
He says its cause you have to pass a difficult check
Well done.
Pretty cool I don't understand these rpg games but they have beautiful graphics
having myrkul die over 30 minutes to burning damage is so cringe
I cant tell what spells your usibg or anything the resolution is kinda bad lol. Gj tho
you complain about how long the cutscenes are bc of "your pc" but i have a 5800x overclocked to 5ghz, 32gb 4x8 3200c14 oc to 3800c14 flat, with a 4070ti on a 2tb adata xpg pro (b4 they switched the chips to shit) and you have the same load times, cut scene times an shit as i do. its the game man. loads of posts about how long it takes to load an shit.
Karmic dice on? Droppped. You fail.
Can’t believe how bad the load times are, even on PC. I know loading doesn’t account for run time, but as a speed runner that has to be so insanely annoying.
