Heyo everyone! I'll probably be making a few more videos after I come back next week from travel, not tutorials, but more so fun explanation videos. There'll also be some other videos of other games on my channel soon as well, including things for the next MoistCritikal Challenge, and maybe more Halo speedrun things. I'll try to start making more content, but I'll be pretty busy for the next few months with travelling and speedruns for SGDQ 2024 and ESA Summer 2024!
Just got my Honor mode run done - thank you very much, fantastic guide! I got Orin as Lae'zel as I decided to leave her in my party, she had only 1 HP though :D Small tip for console players - if jump at 38:00 doesn't work for you just jump around the normal path and sneak through the brains area until you get to the bridge in the video, it doesn't take much longer to get there.
I can confirm that everything in this guide still works in Patch 7 with some quirks I couldn't account for: 1) The weapon drop for the moonlantern seems to be an all or nothing shot now. Miss and Shadowheart dies. Succeed and you can safely pick up the lantern (and die) 2) The Nightsong cutscene seems buggy. It got cut short on multiple runs. In my winning run, it got cut short once and then played out with the 6 skips after talking to the Nightsong again 3) I don't think it matters but after Myrkul, shadowheart was still stealthed near Balthazar and had to exit before moving to Act 3 Everything else played out perfectly.
@@jeff-15g His tip about using the scroll down as a click action is spot on. It felt like this to me: 1) Place a chest down so you have something to catch on when you fall through the map 2) Aim at an obstructed spot and scroll down while spamming jump, but make sure your path crosses the top of your barrel/chest 3) You jump through the air, splat into an invisible wall, slide down onto the chest 4) Click forward into the room you're trying to get into so you walk off the chest and safely in.
@@probag8414 I’m confident my spam click is off, but my brain refuses to understand.lol Youre scrolling down on the mouse (zooming out) while also pressing Z and left mouse? That seems impossible to pull off so I must be confused I did the interact button binding where the first box is left mouse click and second box is shift+scroll up. Then I hold down shift and Z while spamming the left mouse button to try and get it to jump.
Pardon scroll up I mean >.< It depends on what you set it to, but scroll up (zoom in) is easier because you don't need to zoom in very often in a speedrun. So the way it looks when I'm spamming is I hit Z a bunch of times with my left hand (to jump spam) while hovered over the spot I want to jump to and just...scroll up with my finger. Lefty pink hitting Z, right index finger scrolling up, that's the only inputs I need.
The thing I love about cheesy very hard runs is the ability to stretch the game's breakability and laugh over it (Especially the Gortash part :v). Thanks mate!
Thank you so much for these walk-throughs. I recently lost an honour mode run unknowingly playing normally (approx 80 hours in) near the end of act 3, so I was gutted. I didn't want to give up but also not go through all those hours again, so this guide was great. I managed to finish it in 1 day, so a massive thanks to you and good look to anyone else attempting this as well.
Sitll working, luckily. Thank you for this tutorial. As for my tips: there is only one. When doing temple skip with doors, make sure chest is as parallel to doors as possible. If it is at angle, pick it up and put it down again. Try few times, it should eventualy rotate. Don't try doing this skip on hardkore if your chest is at angle. You will either miss the skip or softlock yourself quite badly. Also this skip should work with chest that you can pick in corridor at 29:33 (if you jump a bit farer).
Your guide has been a tremendous help and I have now gotten the honour mode achievement, many thanks for the clear explanation and also showcasing multiple options!
thank you so much for the guides! very easy to follow and learned some new things along the way. Excited for my legit attempt now. Doubt i'll ever be as fast as yourself but if I can get under 2 and half hours i'll be happy
Just turned 160hrs to do Honour Mode into 4. Thanks mate, you are a legend. Added some extra perks like an extra Invisibility potion from the “rank” drow at Moonrise for Spear of the Night if you can’t mash jump quick enough before spells clock out. Am tempted to get one from Roah at the Goblin Camp to assist with undead at Mountain Pass too. Another one I seem to stuff up, its either that or try and coax them away with Lazy L so if Tav makes it down to the entry to Shadowlands she can escape battle and move on. Lazy L will come back to life as soon as Tav does, with full hit points if she dies.
For the jump at 38:00, how do you do that part on controler? Edit: Never mind, you just have to path the camera around and angle it just right to do the jupm skip👍🏻
I was close to achieving honor mode 2-3 days ago.. I was at the point of killing Gortash and going for the brain having all the allies with me (did all the quests along with the save all the tieflings achievement) and all the rest bosses down.I reminded my self though that I haven't killed Ansur... that was my doom.. Anyway I played again, and currently I am at act 3 again, but nevertheless I did your guide and got my golden dice!! Thanks a lot Chronos!!
If anyone is struggling with the jump with jaheira in the morphic pool on controller, consider buying a flying potion in beehive general goods after getting the fireworks. It's a considerable time lost but you gain a considerable amount of time back by flying on the left rock instead and not spending 5 minutes trying to reach the right rock. You might also be able to spare a spell slot and getting fly on your Tav or Jaheira at some point in your levelling paths, just an idea here.
a tip for controller that saves time is to take a second and make a new blank radial and put the spells you're going to use a lot there then you just press r1/rb and they're all there easy access
great guide! I was able to finish honor mode following your instructions without too much trouble, although I did not get the special dice, as my save glitched to tactical somewhere along the way. The "load" save still says honor, but the "continue" from the main menu says tactical. looks like round 2 following this guide is coming up :)
Congrats on the run at GDQ! I'm about to start my run following your guide. One question I have pertains to achievements/trophies. Does accepting Bhaal's offer and becoming his chosen break the run? Or if I were to choose to kill Isobel? For two trophies I need to become Bhaal's Slayer, and then getting the ending where I take control of the netherbrain. Thanks for any insights.
So this guide will go through the honour mode run with glitches, so I believe there are some small differences, since I believe this guide has you play as a Tav and not a Dark Urge, meaning that some of the run is different. Accepting Bhaal's offer I'm not sure about but it'll most likely break it. For killing Isobel, you'll be without Jaheira which will make things a ton more difficult. You can get the Sins of the Father achievement by doing the Honour Mode Glitchless run that I showcased by selecting option 2 at the end I'm pretty sure, but I don't think you'll get the Embrace Your Urge one to become the slayer. If you don't do it in honour mode or if you want to save scum you can just become the slayer and reload the save after following the glitchless route.
@ChronosReturns you're right, it is a tav for this guide. I confused this either your gdq run. I'd lean glitchless either way. You mentioned potentially working out the glitchless run in a similar manner. Is that still a possibility? That should make the route as patch proof as possible. Either way, I'll look to follow your 48 minute guide and try to work out those achievements like you described. Thanks again.
Oh I had a hard time with this run, always when you die or whatever just close the game and then u can reload. In Act 3 I saved before killing gortash and then before encountering Orin. Also before entering the imperator scene. Also before entering the final fight
I’m confused on the mechanics to get through the wall at Orin. I’m holding shift the entire time and pressing the left mouse key and Z at the same time? I’ve tried all variations I can think of and can’t get it to work
When I was trying to move gortash towards the ledge to shove him he disapperead and I can’t find him right now. Does anyone know if it dooms the run or I can still find him somehow?
Hey, console guy here, the magehand trick to stay invisible doesn’t keep my tav invisible at the top of the brain. Are there any work arounds or is it just inconsistent? Update: I figured out a work around, thank you for your fantastic tutorial :)
So I was working off of your older guides for patch 6. I’m in the middle of act 3 and just realized some things are different. But I never grabbed an invisibility potion for the end fight, and recommendations to find one in act 3 before I get to the point of no return? Also your guides are amazing!!
