@@GoalZoneCharlie Lemieux had more points than McDavid in the dead puck era with guys water skiing up the rink by grabbing his jersey and Kasparitis punching him in the face with no calls and with Martin Brodeur, and Mike Richter in his division. Even the goalie theory doesn't hold up. Gtfo with that crap Lemieux would have the Art Ross every year with these rules today.
@@fistmcstrongpunch2776 Average goals per game league wide in 95-96 was 3.14. Lemieux had 69 goals and 160 points in 70gp. Average goals per game league wide in 22-23 was the exact same 3.14. McDavid had 64 goals 153 points in 82gp. Yes, Lemieux had the better season. McDavid's season last year offensively was the best since Lemieux. Lemieux is on the same tier as Gretzky as the greatest of all time. While McDavid is on a tier with Jagr, and will like be considered a top 15 player all time when it's all said and done.
100 assists in a season has only been done by Orr, Gretzky and Lemieux, arguably the 3 best players to ever put on a pair of skates. In fairness to Howe, the generation he played in made it next to impossible to reach 100. One year at least, Crosby was on pace for one but due to missed games because of injury, he never reached the milestone.
2011-12: had 29 assists in 22 GP, projected over 82 games=108. Yeah, I know, in 60 games, his assist per game pace probably would have changed significantly but that’s the pace he was on.
I don’t see McDavid ever winning a cup if he plays out his career in Canada, but if he leaves on his next contract and signs with a US team, anything’s possible.
because winning cups is the ultimate goal not scoring 100+ points every year I mean scoring 100+ points isn't even impressive anymore cause everyone is doing it unlike the 2010s when very few people were doing it. well what I am saying is that if you want to win cups you have to have depth and toughness not only star power and skill. That will get you regular season success sure but that won't slide in the palyoffs @@mellonhead_PT
Updated NHL Scoring Leaders (4/2):
1) Kucherov (73 GP, 127 PTS)
2) MacKinnon (75 GP, 127 PTS)
3) McDavid (71 GP, 126 PTS)
It’s crazy how the 4 greatest NHL players are all known for being from just the same 2 teams.
Love the lemieux reference! Crazy hes about to close that gap! Absolutely incredible
It'd be great if McDavid could surpass 100 assists. And the Oilers are definitely THE top bet for the Cup this season.
Uh yeah, no... Colorado has been the top bet since before the season even started. Google the shit.

he simply decided to make everyone better
I love how Connor wants to get much assists that's crazy mindset I love it
Everyone is betting on him so they have to find a way to work together with the casinos on what he can do from night to night.
This is the cynicism I’ve been missing. I LOVE IT.
If Mario played today, he would still be the best player in the league.
I don't disagree... but I'm not 100% sure either! There would be some excellent scoring race battles between the two, that's for sure.
