  • How to remove the sunroof track assembly on a 2015-Up Ford F-Series.
    Very similar for Expedition/Navigator also
    Part number for the new track: FL3Z-16502C22-E
    That track # fits 2015-2018 for sure, as long as you have the same front deflector as in the video.

      @@Paul-w4k you can simply loosen the motor and carefully slide it back manually to wherever you want it and then tighten the motor back up. I have a video on how to align the guides, you can use that video and just loosen the sun shade motor instead of the sunroof motor

    Appreciate you taking the time to post these instructions. I have a 2015 that I am going to have to replace the track on, as same deflector as your in video However when i look to order the FL3Z-16502C22-E part you list - it says it does not fit my 2015 F150... Just confirming before I order - I assume it saw it will not fit due to some small changes like the clips to the deflector but unsure.

      The internet is wrong, it fits your vehicle. Has the updated lower guides and upper ones. I've put hundreds of them in.
      All the tracks interchange up until sometime in 2019, when they changed the front deflector. Those will go in an earlier one, but you need the new deflector. Old one won't go in it.

    My 2017 track needs to be replaced (thank you for the video on how to tell), do you recommend changing the glass as well so I get new seals. I believe in your videos you said the ‘17 needs new glass because there is no way to just do the seals. I plan on owning the truck for many more years and don’t want to replace the track now and then have the seals fail in a couple of years. Thoughts?

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you want to completely future proof it, then that would be the way to go.
      With the new style glasses, you can replace the seals on them if they ever go bad so it's much less expensive after the initial investment. And you're going to have them out anyway. You might be able to sell them to someone let me has a cracked glass or something.
      Buy once, cry once, as the saying goes.

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hard to say. Replacing the track would definitely be easier. It's easier for the 2014-older trucks vs the rebuild for them, and looking at the new ones, I believe that won't change.
      Plus you get the warranty from Ford if you buy it from an authorized seller.
      The guide/cables just haven't been out long enough to see if it's going to be a long-term fix or not. They do look like they copied the updated guides that now come in the tracks, though.
      I have been waiting for my preferred seller (Sunroof Doctor) to release theirs, but I see others have them and will probably get a set and see how the repair goes. I have several broken tracks I've saved just for this.

    Hello, my 2018 f150 sunroof will not close all the way and when I try to close it the motor makes a loud grinding type noise. Can I just replace the motor or does the whole track need to be replaced?

    • @SealofPerfection
      @SealofPerfection  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This one will tell you what's broken. Then from there, if it's the lower guides for sure, you will need to make the decision to try and repair it with the aftermarket cables that are available, or just put a complete track in. I have videos in that playlist on how to do all of that.
      With an 18, I believe somewhere in that year they upgraded the lower guides. I don't know what month it was, though. But if you have them, you might just need the upper guide arms, which is pretty easy to do. (also a how-to in that playlist)
      But this video I linked has examples of what broken pieces came from what part. That's where you need to start.

      One more question:
      I’ll be picking up that glass at my local Ford dealer. Does it require a special sealant or glue of some kind to keep in place? I believe a black rubber sealant already comes wrapped around the glass. And then I think I need to glue it to the large mounting system that then gets attached to the tracks. Maybe I’m overthinking.

      No, but there's not much difference at all. The only real difference is the side airbags in front. You need to unplug their electrical connector to get to the 10mm bolt. The connector has a little sliding lock on it, I use a 90 degree pick to unlock it, and them the plug just pulls right off. Everything else is pretty much exactly the same after that. It's the exact same track, glasses, motor, shade, deflector, etc. Bolts up to the roof exactly the same.
