I have since installed a chain that has a couple of extra links. The original chain has to be quite stretched for it to fit the larger 16t sprocket. It is more correct to use a chain that is marginally larger so I installed a D.I.D chain so that the tension on the chain can be (more) correctly adjusted.
Thank you! Your explanations were very helpful to a ‘noob’ like me. The photos were especially useful. When I do this myself, I’ll be referring to your video.
Thank mate - VERY helpful guide 🙏👍. Just about to do mine, got the Esjot one, like you. Got 7000kms on my himmy now so I reckon I won't be needing a new chain or add a link! 🤣😂🤣😂. Take care, ride safe!
Greetings from Cape Canaveral! I just purchased Scram 411 and this is exactly the kind of info I’m looking to find out. Florida is very flat and hot. I got the Scram because I felt that like it was a grown up version of a trail 90 or a TW that could keep up in traffic when necessary. The bike has no problem in traffic but I’ve felt like is was wound up pretty good. I’m planning on this mod but wasn’t sure what size tooth sprocket to use. Good video! Please keep them coming!
Sorry, You are Wrong about the Chain? You can change the cog straight away when the bike is new if you want? Don't know where you got that idea from, that you have to wait for the chain to stretch? The rubber on the original cog isn't for balancing? It's meant to quiet the chain, But I shouldn't worry about not having rubber on the new one, It's 140 Newton Metres torque setting for the 30mm cog, and 70 Newton Metres torque setting for the rear axle bolt nut, I've done it for my Hunter 350 and Interceptor 650 Well worth doing 👍 Cheers Paul
Hey there! Thanks for the video! I have a question tho, did this mod change how the bike behaves in any way other than having less revs at top speed? Like worse accelleration? Thanks!
I didn't notice any bottom end /acceleration change. If anything, because it seems to have 'longer legs' it feels like it gets up to speed quicker in the crucial gears (2/3rd gears) when pulling into flowing traffic.
Brilliant was looking into going up a tooth on my himalayan to lower the revs and this explained it all thanks :) have you looked into any cams out there?
Is there a specific reason the sprocket goes on the way it's shown here?I installed mine but it had grooves on the inside so now I'm wondering do I need to flip it!
Good question. For this particular brand, installing with the flat section on the inside provides the correct alignment to the chain and rear sprocket on the himalayan. Other brands may be different, you may need to read the manufacturers instructions if your brand is not the same as the one in the video.
@@Unfastened well I got in touch with them to ask, excellent customer service if not a bit confusing, but yes flat side to face inwards even though it's symmetrical ,it used to be that any identifying markings face out but in this case they were stamped on the flat side,so lots of back and forth, flat in recess out 💥
You must be from the US or Canada! 😃 I am more used to the North American accent and I also heard "recessed" as "racist" the first time around. I do love the Aussie accent though.
Yeah so 100km/h on the highway in last gear. 500rpm lower than the 15 tooth sprocket. tested and proven. They should have put the 16t front sprocket on from the factory, really.

Is the front sprocket reverse thread?
Very helpful, thank you - A Yank
Thanks Joey!
Thanks that’s nicely done
hi. Thanks. It seems to be easy, even for a bad mecanic like me! 😀
Yes, too easy. Give it a go! Good luck
Did you do this yourself? If so do yo have a video 😊? Very well amd informative video regarding the sprocket change btw!

It makes a great difference, I recommend it. I might do a cam, perhaps after warranty runs out...
Is there any changes in speed like from 120 to 130 or normal?
Wrong bike if you want to do high speed. Buy a R9 :)
Is the sprocket not normal right hand thread?

Increase of 6.66%
500 rpm lol yea right

madness. it needs all the torque it can get. You went the wrong way.
As you can see he lives in flat area
300 rpm difference with one tooth more on the front, going the wrong way for sure
