    Unbelievable!! Can’t think of anything more thrilling especially up the mighty Blanca of the Sangres.

    Great video. I really enjoyed seeing what the road is like today. I only made 1 attempt at that road 30 years ago in a Gen 1 Bronco. I didn't get very far, mostly because the road was pretty wet that day. My one disappointment in the video was seeing all your rigs parked on the alpine tundra at the end of the road. The tundra is very fragile at that altitude. Please stay on the trail. Thanks.

      I slept on the tundra at Ptarmigan lake… oh no! 😳 please don’t tell Dr Fauci!!🤫

      The WJ is pretty cool but it's kinda lost some finesse with the easy way out tires and indestructible axles.

    I have 40 acres about 10 miles directly west of Mt Blanca. When I build my house It will face Blanca Peak. The views are beautiful especially when the mountain is covered in snow. We ATVd that road May of 2017 but never made it to Como because of to much snow still on the ground. Hoping to do it again late August or early September of this year. I thought you could only go as far as Como and that it was wilderness area after that. Good to know you can do go to the next lake. Great video.

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can imagine the view of the mountain in the winter is incredible. Going later in the year is a safe bet, especially this year with all of the snowfall this winter. Lake Como is the main spot but yes you can go up above the tree line to the higher lakes. Just gotta be mindful to stay on the trail because of how fragile the high alpine terrain is. It’s definitely worth experiencing. Thanks for watching!

    Great video. Back in 1986 I only made it to Jaws 2 in my full size '85 Bronco(bone stock). Didn't want to push it since we still needed to drive it back to California. We did hike the rest of the way to Lake Como. It is beautiful up there.

      Glad you enjoyed the video! Kevin (the guy in the built Dodge Dakota) broke back in the 80s on the same obstacle too. It's a great trail with some amazing views.

    Maaaan I gotta finish the 14ers and really don't want to hike this road for Little Bear. Seems like if I want to do this in my Lexus GX470 tho I'm gonna need to dump 10k into it at least. Lift, bigger tires, skids, sliders, winch...
    Great video guys, just what I was looking for. considerable pucker factor. cheers

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the view and glad you liked the video! You're not wrong about having to dump some cash into your Lexus to make the trail. I won't say it's impossible with a stocker. I'm sure with enough skinny pedal and blatant disregard for body damage and personal safety, you might get it to the top haha! Either way, I hope you can try the trail one day. Cheers.

    I so want to try this stock... but I’d definitely have to take the bypass on jaws 2 for that.

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of people have to take the bypass on jaws to. I will say if you dont have lockers you will want them.

    • @coloradomallcrawlers
      @coloradomallcrawlers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SW Active Explorers I got lockers, try to get by without them as much as I can though!

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same here. It's much more fun to see what the vehicle is capable of unlocked and also work on your driving skills first. Then after you've determined that locking it up is necessary, just playing with the rear locked up, then the front, seeing what it needs, makes for a fun time.

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The two door was running a 3” Teraflex lift, 33/12.50.17s, Yukon Grizzly lockers front and rear, and 4.56 gears.

    Mate I want to build an Xj with 35s and 3 inch long arm would $7k be enough to build / buy me a reliable rig to tour and off road in. I would drop 10k but the Aussie dollar has been crushed. Love your vids you guys will get a huge following over the coming years.

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot for you kind words! Now to address your question I have a few questions and answers. Does that include your purchase price of the rig as well? When I talk about my rig and what i have into it I do not include the purchase price of the jeep. So that being said if you already have the jeep $7k is far more than enough. But that also largely depends on what you want to do. I have roughly 8k invested into the gray xj but that money got me 2013 jk axles, gears, lockers front and rear, 8" long arm lift, SYE and drive shaft, frame stiffeners, truss, axle sleeves, c gussets, rims, 37" tires and more. So that being said if your smart you can do a lot. If you have questions about what exactly we would recommend doing and where you can save money and what you should go quality products on feel free to ask away.

      @@SWActiveExplorers Cheers for that, I am so impressed with what is available in the US and it seems very affordable. Yeah I was hoping to buy the rig and modify for around $US7K. I aim to drive the US so being some what fuel efficient would be important. I was looking at Rusty off road 3 in ch long arm kits to give me decent off road capability. Any suggestions Im all ears.

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s all about what you plan to do with the Jeep. Rustys makes a 3” advanced kit with all new control arms, springs/leaf packs, brake lines, and front track bar. It’s not a long arm kit, but if you go with their forged flex joints in the front arms it will flex much more than you think. We really love their RX800 shocks, the ride quality is very good. Couple that with their transfer case drop kit to avoid any driveline vibrations and you’ll have a very capable rig that won’t break the bank. Now... if you want to go long arm, their 4.5” long travel kit is hard to beat. Just know that it would be in your best interest to get a slip yoke eliminator with a lift that high. Rustys sells the slip yoke eliminator with a Tom Woods driveshaft, but it’s extra cost. Really up to you. Either option is hard to beat and will get you pretty much anywhere you want to go. Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions!

      Jonathan McCarthy if you aren’t doing the work yourself the $7k budget will by get you very far...shops will hit you with $80-100/hr labor...

    Do you think a TRD Tacoma could get up Jaws 2

    • @SWActiveExplorers
      @SWActiveExplorers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on how built the truck is and how okay you are with body damage. If the truck is stock I wouldnt attempt the trail. If you have rocker, front and rear protection, lift, and tires I wouldnt imagine you having much trouble. The major obstacles have bypasses, including Jaws 2. The smallest vehicle with us was the white 2 door jeep. It was on a 2" lift, 33s, and had front and rear lockers. It did very well on the trail, but he did get some rocker damage from lack of protection.
