This is the rare moment a hyena clan rescued one of its fallen members from a brutal lion attack.
Sivert Brendmoe was on safari at Londolozi Game Reserve, South Africa, on September 7 when a lion pride suddenly launched an attack on a stray hyena.
Epic footage captured the four lions bringing down the unusual prey with one of the males pinning it to the ground by its throat.

They did a study on why that is in fact safe .. it turns out that the lions aren't able to make the distinction between the vehicle and the people sitting inside it, also it is so out of the norm for them that it doesn't interest them apparently.. sometimes they come close or sniff around but they don't see it as prey, nor as any sort of threat, so they just ignore it all together..

People think the hyena survive because is tough, but that is not the case. Hyenas are tough, but the lions did exactly what they wanted, and it was to torture the hyena. This hyena will not survive the night after all the damaged they did, just look at the hyena back. The hyena is moving by pure adrenaline, but after that it will die. A lion will always kill a hyena one way or another if the opportunity is there.

Animals don’t just attack anything. For example some people walk through this wilderness like Maasai. The animals get aggressive when it’s dark. During the day lions do not easily attack humans unless they feel threatened. Lions have different temperament from tigers and leopards. Tigers and leopards are more dangerous to humans. Also you’ll notice lions do not consume hyena and same goes with humans. Lions in the wild rarely attack humans. In zoos they do because they live under different circumstances.

They only know how to isolate and attack in groups.
In hand-to-hand combat against a lion they always flee.
They may be intelligent, but brave?...

The hyenas did not rescue the attacked hyena, the lions thought the hyena was unconscious so released the grip than it ran off lol, as usual the title is wrong. The clan may have planned to rescue but once they saw 2 adult male lions plus 2 more adolescent males, they kept their distance you saw that yourselves. The attacked hyena was lucky that's all

Male Lions kill. They don’t play around. They attack to kill. They don’t let a rival predator survive. The subadult hyena was too tough for them. They couldn’t kill it. It took too long trying to suffocate it and it didn’t die. And when the other hyenas approached, they had to let the subadult hyena go. If this was any other animal it would have died. Cope lion fanboy lmao

Excuses excuses excuses made by lion fanboys. 4 lions were adults with full grown manes. Only one lion was young. The lions got scared when the other hyenas approached and had to release the subadult hyena. Cope lion fanboy

The hyenas are low. The lions are strong and muscular, with fangs and jaw strength. The hyenas, as a group, can dart in and injure the lions legs and render them disabled. This lion caught himself solo, as the others drifted off after initially beginning a flank move. The hyenas then moved in gradually with their own flanking move upon the initially unaware lion. Each then, tentatively asserted themselves upon the other, back and forth withe hyenas asserted their territory until the message was gotten by the solo lion who realized it was a no-win to stick around.
    What a stunning battle.
