- The Krogen 48 AE is a luxury trawler yacht designed and manufactured by Kadey-Krogen Yachts. The "AE" stands for "Advanced Ergonomics," indicating a focus on comfort and efficiency in design. With a length of 48 feet, it's a sizable vessel known for its long-range cruising capabilities and sturdy construction.
Very few yachts I have featured on my channel are capable of doing the Great Loop, but also capable of crossing oceans! This one has a range of 4,730 miles @ 6 knots! Powered by a single 200hp John Deere engine, with a 1,000 gallons of fuel onboard, this has to be one of the most efficient boats available today!
You can see the full spec of this yacht on the manufacturers website at www.kadeykroge....
I hope you enjoy this video!

Kadey Krogan has always been an excellent boat
I agree, even the older models are still very much in high demand 😎
This vessel is a thing of beauty!
I would be proud to call this one mine if I had the time and money
Love the light wood too
I agree. Dark wood always makes the boats feel smaller, and claustrophobia kicks in fast 😬
Love this boat! Nice showing! The wash dryer is really nice!
Thanks! I'm hoping to get to the Ft Lauderdale Boat Show at the end of the month. If I do, I always make Krogen a priority stop 😉
@@GarnockReviews Cool
Nice very nice and beautiful Krogen 48 AE Trawler with the nice light wood inside everywhere the cozy salon with galley the bridge with the forward sloop windows give it a feeling you are on a big ship i like that, the only thing why they are not build in steel of alluminum but that is what dutch people like more then a plastic one Great show Darnock Reviews ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks, Manuel. I don't see many steel boats over here. Not many aluminum, either. It's mainly all fiberglass.
Nice job, nice boat.
Thanks Gary 😎
Fantastic boat ⛴️
I agree. My next video to pop is on Friday for a Fleming 65. If you like trawlers, you will love that one too 😎
Il est vraiment magnifique ❤❤
This is a tough boat, definitely built to handle rough seas!! Look at those waterproof doors on each side of the cockpit. She's beautiful AND tough! Thanks Grieg!!! ✌️🏳️🌈✌️
Thanks Bryan. Within reason, this is a boat you can say you are taking out next weekend and not have to worry about the weather. Looks extremely strong and capable, no matter what the elements are outdoors.
Great video. Beautiful boat. This is the one to have.
Thank you 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful boat, just what I am looking for. Wish I could afford it!
Fast approaching boat show season, where it quickly turns into my Christmas list 😆
Absolute belter of a boat, had no idea the bridge clearance could get so low, could be the ideal boat especially with stabilisers. thanks for the review ,. Have to ask what the real world price would be ??
It's a fantastic boat that suits so many cruising opportunities. As to price, that really is all down to spec and time of ordering etc. Rough ballpark, I found this article that showed the test boat to be just under $1.5m www.powerandmotoryacht.com/boat-tests/kadey-krogen-48-ae
Can you tell me where I can get those stand alone chairs? They look wonderful!
Unfortunately I have no idea....but there is a contact option on the manufacturers website at www.kadeykrogen.com/tour/krogen-48-ae/
Might be worth asking them for ideas 🤔
Sold already! Someone got a nice boat for cheap.
@Navy19770:25
New build prices are all down to time of order and specifications etc. As a guide, here's a used example still on Yachtworld www.yachtworld.com/yacht/2016-krogen-48-ae-9213923/
what a boat.
This is my kind of boat. As much as I film all shapes, sizes, and designs, my dream boat is a comfortable liveaboard that is easily handled by just my wife and I. This one would be high up my wish list.
Price?
That's really down to spec and time of ordering. No 2 boats are the same. As a rough guide, if you check out this review, the boat they tested was just under $1.5m
www.powerandmotoryacht.com/boat-tests/kadey-krogen-48-ae
Oh yeah, what's not to like. Some serious day dreaming can now commence!
We are still in April, but I've already been working on my Christmas list 🤪
Only one engine! Not even a wing engine. Think I'd prefer a Nordhavn.
There's pros and cons to 1 engine vs 2. If you want 2, Fleming is also a good option to consider 😉
This one looked like it had a hydraulic get-home drive off the genny, as many 48AE's do. Not as robust as a separate engine/trans/shaft/screw, like a Nordhavn... But this is a ce-category B boat. It's really a coastal cruiser. But man it's my great loop dream boat!
@@bpj443 Why would they build a CE B boat in this price range and tout trans oceanic range with a B boat, this is crazy, thank you for educating me a I assumed this was an A boat.
@@brianlitz5102 I think the simple answer is "because there's a market for it". But there are other CE-B yachts with long ranges... This applies to many in the Hamptons Yachts as well. But I think it comes down to use case. I think the Krogen 48AE is intended to cruise for a long period away from the dock, near land, but away from civilization. Think circumnavigating Vancouver island in Washington, then continuing on to Juneau, AK. Or going from Florida to the Bahamas and then all the way out to the Grenadines, etc. None of those journeys take you greater than 200NM from shore. But the fuel range will keep you self-sufficient for long time. Realize also that once you go larger than the 48AE in the Krogen range, they're all CE Class A.
Why is so damn hard to get a price on it?
These yachts aren't mass produced. Instead, they are semi custom. Every boat has a different spec and therefore different price. As a generic ballpark, the following review was for a new boat at $1.45m
www.powerandmotoryacht.com/boat-tests/kadey-krogen-48-ae
A beautiful boat, BUT, I can not understand why boat builders put the main cabin in the most moving part of the boat. The nose. It is ridiculous!!!!
From my experience, it seems like every layout has its pros and cons. The bow may have movement, but is the most spacious in this layout and furthest away from the engines.
A mid cabin has less movement, but is right next to the engines.
An aft cabin is normally more square and the water lapping on the transom isn't always pleasant, and you have the most exhaust noise and vibration here ......but with a ton of space.
Don’t forget at anchor without the generator and ac the bow cabin gets the most ventilation
With the budget, you can always install a sea keeper
I agree with you ,the main cabin should be in the mid ship with a full beam
I live kady in weathet
6 knots with a 4700 mile range? That would take over 2 months cruising at 10 hours a day. Good luck storing 2 months of food/water on board.
Judging by my track record of pacing through hurricane snacks, I wouldn't last 2 months with no stores 😆
Purpose Built.
Sorry not a fan of your videos, not enough details.
Is it full displacement?
Yeah, this is more Prius than Porsche. An extremely capable blue water cruiser, especially for her size.
People like to talk about ocean crossing capabilities. Can’t see how anyone would take such a risk, what if you get hurt or sick or your boat breaks down in the middle of the ocean & thousands of miles from shore? Also, even large naval vessels avoid large storms, if possible.
