    I always liked the scenes where Lucas lost control and revealed the lethal, even vicious gunman he was before meeting Mark's mother.

    Some of the best acting ever from Chuck Connors in that scene with the doctor. Great actor!!

    The man at 9:35, He's the same actor who plays my favorite villain The Shotgun Man. I love how they cased him again and thought that people wouldn't notice haha. I also love how even Lucas is sick of his cooking.

    I could not think more highly of this series and Chuck Conner's performances, but the unsung hero of "The Rifleman" was the Kettledrum player. He (or she) did a wonderful job asvthe backbeat to the drama. Easy to overlook, but definitely missed if it isn't there.

    His character on The Rifleman was my idea of what a real man should be even if it was a somewhat lame television fantasy. He was a good actor too, going against his Rifleman image and playing a bad character in the 1958 William Wyler western The Big Country and holding his own with big name actors Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons and Charlton Heston. I respected the man in real life also, he seemed like a decent human being. Plus he was of Irish heritage, which is important to my family anyway.

      It's always a double-edge sword when an actor stars in a successful series... they can be easily typecast for life, and have difficulty being convincing as other characters. But the REALLY fine actors pull it off. Chuck Connors was one such actor.

      @@oldwestguy Connors had a great presence, good acting ability, aa voice that people like listening to. He was perfect for the Lucas McCain part. It is hard to think of anyone who would even be AS good

    I don't know that actors name. But when I see his eyes change from 1:38 to 1:49 it always amazes me. The level of acting back then was so subtle yet so profound.

    Ol Lucas sure got fightin' mad a whole passel of times - I think the death count for him was 120 folks that he thought should die over the 5 yrs of the show - I think he decimated that little town. Those rifle bullets aren't stopped by wooden walls. Good thing he didn't carve notches in the rifle's stock - it'd just be a twig by the time he finished his rightous rages.

    • @oldwestguy
      @oldwestguy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol... I thought of that... there would have been nothing left of his rifle. He was a fine actor, as this video demonstrates.

    What gets me is Connors was left handed, yet some scenes show him shooting right handed. And, for a guy who was a farmer/rancher/sod buster, he sure had a list of people out to get him. He either pissed off a lot of folk or, in his military service, he made a slew of enemies. Either way, it made the show interesting.

      In those days a man as good with his guns as McCain was got a reputation, kind of like 2018 when the "man" with the cutest skinny jeans and joggers, latest Iphone, nicest man bun, sipping the most estrogen laden latte from Starbucks gets the most dick

      paul kersey pretty sure they acknowledged it in an episode where he hid from his rival. Pretty sure it was somewhat intentional
