  • I brought a couple .32-20 revolvers along with on my trip to the Whittington Center, figured it was about time to break them out of the safe and show them a little love. Both revolvers are from the 1915 era, one is blue and teh other is nickle. Let's see how they do.

      @@Halfmilesniper There was an older couple that took me in as a son once. it was in 1981 when they bought a lot beside my parents home. I helped him frame a very nice house over a 4 year period. He and his wife would take me out to dinner at least once a month or more often. I was in my late teens at the time and once when visiting their house, they showed me her fathers mint condition octagon barrel Winchester lever gun in 32-20. They had it wrapped and taped in a hand stitch blanket her mother had sewn many decades before. Her father was a German immigrant to this country and bought this rifle shortly after arriving here. When I say mint, I mean just like it rolled off the line. They wanted me to have the rifle but I refused at that moment as I did not feel right to take it and thought it should stay in her family. Man that was one beautiful rifle though. To this day, I wonder where that rifle ended up.

      Our Team went and trained with the AMU for a week. They shoot a different discipline but the fundamentals are still the same. They impressed us with the ability at Bullseye and we impressed them with our ability to shoot double action quickly.
      For me there as also the special opportunity to trod some of the same ground my Dad did in 1941.

    Very cool . I have a very old 32 S&W ….how do they compare

    • @Halfmilesniper
      @Halfmilesniper  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would opine that the difference between .32 S&W and .32-20 is like the difference between .22 short and .22 magnum. .32 S&W is a very mild round and the first guns chambered in it were roughly the same size as the early .22s.

    Halfmile, thank you for this video. Yours are the first S&W 32-20 revolvers I have seen that match my S&W 32-20 with the large S&W trade mark on the RH side frame and the plowshare grips w/gold dished medallions. Mine has a 6" barrel marked 32-32 WCF CTG on the LH side, patent marking on the top that stop at 1908, and blank on the RH side. No one could give me a production date, but they guessed in the mid-1920s. My serial numbers are only 5 digits in mid-range 58xxx, so I suspected pre-1917, but could never find matching features, until I saw yours in this video. The hand ejector star does have the 2 small pins underneath, which I suspect is the 4th change model, from what I have read.
    Would you have any additional details? Cheers!

    • @Halfmilesniper
      @Halfmilesniper  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With a 1908 patent date on the barrel I would say it is a 4th change, which I believe started about 1905. Your 6 inch example sounds very much like my 6 inch (which didn't make in this video), I am pretty sure I also have a 5 digit, or a very low 6 digit serial number and my 6 inch was shipped in 1912. I'll have to double check the serial when I get home tonight.

      @@Halfmilesniper Thanks for the reply, this is very exciting news! I would love to see how this fleshes out. Although my revolver is well worn, it does not show signs of abuse, just age and average use. My father kept it in good operating condition, only firing it on rare occasions, as he had a very limited amount of 32-20 ammunition for it. He also had some S&W .32 long to shoot, so as to minimize wear and tear on it as well.

    • @Halfmilesniper

      @@gravesclayton3604 As long as you stay away from any .32-20 RIFLE ammo you are pretty safe. There was some heat treating issues early on and the .32-20 is a pretty mild pistol round but the rifle ammo was loaded hotter.

      @@Halfmilesniper My father also had the octagon barrel Winchester 32-20 rifle. My sister has that and the 32-20 rifle ammo that my dad had bought. I kept the S&W revolver and his box of .32 S&W longs. I recently bought a new Cimarron 32-20/32 H&R 6-shooter to satisfy my 32-20 itch. My older brother hand-loads ammo, so we may try making some pistol loads for my S&W 32-20.

      @Halfmilesniper well I need to learn how to load cuz I have kept the brass from what I shot out of it already, I was able to find a business that comes to the local gun shows that sells it.

    • @Halfmilesniper
      @Halfmilesniper  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@georgeaura I would advise staying away from gun show reloads, a lot of guns have been ruined by folks just cranking out ammo with incorrect powders and or charges. RCBS makes the dies. It will be a difficult cartridge to learn how to reload on, but you can do it, just go slow and study all the reloading info you can.
