Hope you have a quick recovery Richard. I think you're correct that the new rifle may be a tack driver...I've said it several times since scoping the bore - that is the cleanest cut bore I have ever seen.
@@matthewkissick4045 originally I was going to go with an Aero chassis...changed my mind after pricing, lol, and went with another MDT Oryx...that will be in part 3 of this series.
If you are looking at different calibers for this action northland shooters has criterion shouldered prefits that will work. They are very affordable and the 2 that i have shoot very well. Nothing against aero because my 6 creedmoor that came on my action shoots very well too.
For glass you need to go check out the Athlon Ares ETR in (my opinion) 4.5-30X56. I'm looking forward to this series to find out how you like the Solus. I've heard really good things about them but I don't know if they're all as honest about things as you are. If you could find an affiliation on Expert Voice, the Ares ETR has an amazing price right now!
I have 2 Solus actions and a 3rd on the way. They all shoot great, smooth, and reliable. I chambered my 1st SOLUS in 6GT using a Bartlein barrel. It shoots like a laser beam. I just rebarreled it with a H&S Precision barrel cause I got a great deal on it. My gunsmith inspected the SOLUS action and the lugs had almost now wear after 2500+ rounds. IMhO the SOLUS action is a solid action that should not be overlooked. My 2nd SOLUS action has the Obsidium finish and is chambered in 6.5PRC with a Bartlein barrel. It also operates a smooth as butter and shoots like a laser beam. My 3rd SOLUS will be a 6.5Creedmoor with an Aero Precision barrel. The reason I gotten Aero barrel instead of spinning another Bartlein was that I shot a SOLUS with the Aero barrel and it was .25moa @100yds using factory ammo. I wish Aero would make a heavyweight Long Action SOLUS for 300 Norma.
I was using barrel jaws...and that piece of cardstock from the action box. Could not get enough bite with the jaws so I sprang for a nice 4 bolt barrel vise. That an dthe cardstock worked great, but that is in the next video.
Even with that cardstock wrapped around the barrel I could not get the barrel jaws clamped tight enough to keep the barrel from turning. I needed the dedicated barrel vise, we get torqued in the next video.
I may have lived that getting into pistol competition...people are floored when I tell them what my "travel box" of comp guns is worth, lol. Someone recently asked my if it was cheaper to build my own gun, lol...I said nope...but I get what I want.
I think terminus makes a "quick change" system for theirs... you loosen 2 set screws and swap the barrel and bolt and go from 308 to 223.. I have swapped barrels on my savages. I am thinking about one of these or a zermat action to try this game. The rem 700 clones have way better accessories. looking forward to this series for sure!

They do sell complete rifles. The only tool that isn't "universal" is the action wrench. I'd need that anyway if I was to change barrel/chambering. Plus, I'd never assembled a bolt gun before, so I have that experience now too.
Also.... If you're running the factory division...... You actually have to have a full factory rifle..... I was on track to be Factory Division, the only non factory part was the tuner brake. I was looking at the Aero chassis but couldn't justify spending more on the chassis than I did the receiver.. I bumped myself out of Factory with an Oryx chassis. I believe I could still get an Aero chassis and switch, but still can't justify the price of the Aero.
