I am building a hybrid timber frame home (wood and stone) on a four acre wooded lot, I am managing the project and did many of the work myself (landscaping, interior painting, flooring, staining and some other stuff) house is about 1800 sqft. I had to clear 400 feet driveway and 80x60 sqft clearing for the house, dig a basement, a well, septic field and pay extra to run electric underground from the street. Cost have eclipsed the $500k slightly. It was more work and cost than I expected, but now I feel better about the cost after watching this video and knowing how much you spent.👍✌

You're living in the past lol, median home price in US in 2022 was $380k, this isn't too far off of that. $500k certainly isn't in the "rich" category.

@@colinlusher I just googled median salary of American men in the United States its around $50,300. Google Says: "Generally speaking, mortgage lenders say that you can afford to buy a house that's 2.5 to 3 times greater than your annual salary. So in order to buy a $500,000 house, you would need to make at least $167,000 to meet the 2.5x income requirement." I enjoyed your video. I would love some advice on how to make that kind of income perhaps the new generation would benefit as to what the should do to be able to afford the house. Please understand not trying to disrepect but honestly truly would like some advice and I think a video where you talk about that for people in different income brackets would benefit. Please do make a video. It would be helpful. I just realized you are not the video creator but a commentor. Maybe the video creator will read and make a video.

What country/state was this done in? That is going to influence the parts & labor costs. Beautiful home. One thought: as nice as that tempered glass railing is, it seems like having some kind of wood, Plexiglas or composite cap across the top of it would be in order. Something about those paneled glass railings with no discernable railing seems unsafe, especially if someone was walking around in the dark and tripped or stumbled...

What is the purpose for all that firewood if you are just going to use a reverse cycle air conditioner for heating? @@CaptVII yeah I figured that into cost of land which I would factor seperately as multiple properties could be put on the land

Gotta say, it's been super fun watching this process on the daily in person. Considering what USED to be where this house is? Amazing.

I would pretty much double or triple all the costs that were listed. Pretty much everytime i see any video on youtube, the prices are always lower. Inflaction, chip shortage, yada yada..
