FLL has no non-airline lounges. They’re all in MIA, despite FLL being in the top 20 busiest airports nationwide.
@@headlibrarian1996It’s amazing how quickly FLL has grown into such a busy airport. The last time I picked up a family member at FLL, it looked like LAX.
Strata Premier's CDW is primary while outside the US. I love driving in Switzerland and the EU. Buying food at supermarkets is a way to "go local" plus use another 3X Premier category.

Great content that hit home for me. I travel to Italy several times/year, so here is "my current line up", which also doubles to just anywhere outside of the US really: 1. Amex Schwab Plat for direct to airline fares (5x), lounges, and occasional FHR credit use. Never travel w/luggage 2. Car rental: US Bank Altitude Reserve (5x) in Italy (Amex does not cover insurance in Italy) 3. Restaurant, gas, and groceries: US Bank Altitude Reserve (3x) 4. Home utilities, taxes, and Internet service in Italy (have a home there): US Bank Altitude Reserve (3x via ApplePay) 4. Trains/bus/tolls: US Bank Altitude Reserve (3x via ApplePay) 5. Everything else: cash using Schwab checking debit card (limitless free use everywhere in the world). Getting the US Bank Altitude Reserve recently will allow me to get rid of several Amex cards next year. They are great to use in the US, but outside the US is a dead horse for sure. Might keep the Plat though.

Portals can be great for quickly redeeming value from points when transfer partners are kinda shit with their valuations. They can also find great deals and some are required to get the credits.

Nice setup, I'm with you on the portal. I think its an easy thing to rag on so ppl sleep on them haha. When it comes to boutique hotels, there have been a few times I've found lower prices via Cap1 portal than other 3rd party sites. Plus it makes it an even better deal with the credit in those cases. Especially since not every spot is going to have options for hotel redemptions so I'll take that lower cost + points for sure.
Agreed. I’m looking right now at Lima Peru and so far ihg and Wyndham is cheaper through the chase portal.

I just got back from Amsterdam & Paris and really enjoyed our time there! Even better were the business class seats on Air France and Premium Economy on KLM back to JFK.
Starting to realize the value of the Savor One and it may move up my list of cards to add (if they let me)
I’m over 5/24 so the Reserve is probably out, but I’m still trying to see if the product change to Ritz in September is the right move…

Awesome. I actually can’t wait to visit AMS as it seems to be a great launching point for euro vacations.
I primarily use the CLT airport and can’t use the Centurion lounge when traveling with the kids (too young to be AUs which means I have to pay for each kid every time I go and I wouldn’t make them AUs anyway lol) but one thing the kids always ask is if we are going to the PP lounge before the flight 😂 not very fancy but can’t complain too much about free food and drinks and not having to sit next to “Adam’s screaming kids” 😂. Great content as always!

We could’ve used a nanny in years past but now the boy can pretty much take of himself!!
I got back from Belgium a couple of weeks ago where I used the CSR exclusively. 10X on Lyfts to and from JFK, 3X on Ubers and trains and 3X on dining. I also used it to pay the taxes and fees on my points transfer for the travel protections. Can't wait to hear what you think of Malta, I love it there.

Sounds like a good setup. Hilton points have been good to me overseas with a stay in Qatar for 10 nights but no such luck in Iceland. Qatar accepted Amex everywhere whereas Iceland no hablas the Amex ☹️
I just got the IHG Premier card so it will interesting to see how your IHG experience goes. I have high hopes for IHG and then move into the Hyatt ecosystem. No rest for the wicked; especially when they are using points 😀

Make sure when you reserve your tickets on Air France business class with points that indeed it did said lounge access because there have been new reports that some reward flights booked through points no longer include lounge access

I been considering going away from hilton and switching over to Marriott now. I love the hilton aspire and everything it offers but marriott seems to have more adults only properties in the countries i tend to visit
i can see that. I have just never been able to find great value with the marriott program.

The klm Amsterdam lounge is amazing! Wish I’d thought to transfer to Air France to get the klm ticket though before I knew their taxes were lower

When I was in Europe last December I thought my Uber credit from the Amex Platinum would cover my Uber trips. It did not. I used Uber in Frankfurt and Prague and neither trip utilized the $35 credit I had in the account. Not sure if I did something wrong or if I missed something in the fine print, but just heads up if you were planning on using that benefit

I don’t know if it’s the camera, TH-cam, or my TV but the stripes on your shirt has some weird digital moving distortion on it. Nice card setup, I’d probably run a similar set up. I’m canceling VX and PCing to my CSP to the CSR.
