You're my personal hero! You took the time to actively demonstrate how to get the flex cables back through the hinge! I haven't seen another tutorial that did this (not even iFixit, a very reputable source for instructions) and this helped me finish my DSi XL reshell!
So true, had the exact same problem. I destroyed my new LCD while trying to put it through the hinge because I watched another video that wasn't that great in explaining how to do it.
Thank you for this. My DSi xl has been on a shelf for over 10 years ever since the top screen broke when it hit something while it was in my pocket. I finally fixed it. It would have been nice to know before I started that soldering would be required. I'd never successfully soldered anything before. But it wasn't too hard to de-solder the speaker wires off the old screen and re-solder onto the new one.
I was hoping that my screen was just disconnected with time or use, so I followed the tutorial and opened my console completely and cleaned the screen and the camera ribbon cables, then placed everything back hoping to get the same result as you but it turns out the the same problem happened and that either my screen or camera is not working, but I can't even tell with one it is because everything looks in very good condition.

We are glad that we help you out. Thanks for viewing!
easily THE best and most comprehensive DSI XL breakdown on YT. I now have the confidence to try doing this myself. I'll report back if successful.
This replacement is absolutely soul crushing

The ribbon part is extremely complicated at 27:21 I'm still stuck there after 10 minutes of struggling.
