Highly recommend! I also got it as my first synth and its just wonderful. I take it with me when I go on walks and make some sounds on a random bench haha. Pro-tip: read the manual, and practice practice practice. Just spending 10m each day making sounds does wonders.
its good, it takes care of my "roland sound" needs - it reminds me more of the mks-70 a bit, which is fun... i dont really use the internal sequencer, i usually just play it from a MIDI keyboard
They are different things for different purpose. Have both of them. J-6 is a toy, while S-1 is a useful toy. I use it as a midi noise generator for more serious toys. At the same time, the J-6 can be a noise generator for S-1, and together they may confuse your serious synthesizers in a delightful manner.
Not a fan of the sound (too fairy-tale for my taste, too... ringy?), but I have it. It was a hundred something at a discount, and I used it like a million times. Usually for pads and chords with my Roland T-8, but mostly it's my go-to toy. Time flies when you sit with it on a bus during a long trip and write the music on it... And the keyboard, although tiny, is so much better than the Volca's!
I'd have to disagree a bit. I would say its better than SOME of the volcas. I stand by the fact that the Volca Sample and Volca FM2 are the best in its price range. Especially if you use custom firmware on the sample. It's an absolute beast!
I looove the j6 and s1 together! There are so many cool ways to use them together. My current fav is using the chord set on the j6 and the hold function to hold a chord, setting the s1 on the same channel, then using the s1s arp to play against a solid held chord, and shifting the range above and below whatever the j6 is playing too. Great jam, I hope to see more!
Its the coolest gear of late, a micrologue, great arps 4 bars and at 40bpm long sequences, shift+delay/reverb unlocks a submenu for time and divisions
I think this will be my first synth. Absolutely love the sound in relation to the cost. Absolutely awesome.
It was mine and it's still in my setup. When I'm on the road I take the S-1 and my K.O. II and it's a ton of fun.
You won't be disappointed. I prefer S1 I've had for couple months over Microfreak I just got which is double the price.
get a Roland Alpha Juno 1 as first synth^^
it's Analog, fairly cheap and this thing is almost comparable with a SH-101

Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin my favhouse music artists!!
😂
Does it compatible with velocity from external midi controller
Yes
That microphone handle is actually a clip to attach to your clothing so you don’t have to hold it and yes I’m trolling.
Nah, that clip is so that you can attach it to an egg beater, whisk or wooden spoon so you have something to hold. Obviosly
but with it so close it's like AMSR 😄 because her voice is so nice 😍

pretty dang radical
Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you should look into the Korg Monotribe! It was my first synth I loved that thing, I regret selling it lol

@@Old_Man_Jay nah bro S-1 is not better than the Volcas, the keyboard is. I have FM2 and it's a gem of a synth.... i wish i had two!

it's very sequencery
I love you. Oh, and I love synths.
@questionably-unqestionable dog You're welcome.
congratulations 🥳🥳🥳 scorpio or sagittarius? ☺️🙈
scorpio 🦂
Dropped my S-1 in the toilet and accidentally flushed it. Gone.
Waste of money for generic sounds... Suggest saving up for either the MC707 or even better, the Digitone 2... You will thank me later... 🙂
those are almost 6 times the price
The S-1 is for new jack posers.
