Suggestion for a future show: Please do "The Best Games from the Worst Companies" The company has to be notorious for releasing terrible games overall like LJN, US Gold or Ocean. I feel like no company can be terrible all the time, had to had made something good to keep them afloat or close enough to pass
Most of what kept LJN and the like afloat was taking recognized IP, pumping out a cheap game, and quickly repeating. If you have eight games on the shelf and no internet to tell people which games are good, people might pickup their games based on the IP.
Excellent episode. I loved Joe's out of the box choices, and a future installment on this same theme should have more of these creative selections. As a side note, it was great to have two Game Sack episodes this week, 'cause there's never enough Game Sack on TH-cam.
13:15 Actually the worst untextured polygonal racing game is Race Drivin' for the Super Nintendo. Because there's just no excuse for this game to be that slow and choppy! Trust me. That one is WAY worse than Hard Drivin' for the Lynx. The Game Boy port of Race Drivin' was developed by Argonaut Software/Games. Yes, the same ones behind Star Fox for the SNES.
Really appreciating that y'all are putting out a lot of great content more frequently. Such an under appreciated channel. 90's arcade gaming was some of the happiest, carefree memories of my life.
Dude, what an extremely fair judgement of Golden Abyss. I was going to be pissed if you shit on it, and you didn't at all, and I've got to say you're totally right with your complaints. Great video as always, my guys.
What a great day to start a Sunday in Europe. Wish every day would be such a Sunday, your Show is in the retro genre currently without equal, both of you grew quite a bit over the years into your roles and you keep delivering stuff that feels fresh, all the best for what you are planning next. Should you ever plan a Fan-Tour through europe, be my guest in my retro cave for a TF Highscore Battle or Golden Axe co-op.
6:08 I love how Sega gave PS3 owners the M2 emulated Castle of Illusions Mickey Mouse Genesis game for pre-ordering this. The 2013 version also came out for PC so it's easy to back up, but a physical PS3 copy would have been great, or a PS4 remaster on disc even better.
This is a great idea for an unlimited amount of videos. I’m looking forward to “best game I like to talk about right now and worst game I don’t really wanna talk about but I’ll do it anyway”.
No joke: Night Striker is my all-time favorite arcade game. Might be my all-time favorite video game too, if not for the existence of Super Castlevania IV... I once beat it on a single token. A single token! Still one of my greatest gaming accomplishments...
You should try to get an interview with Hitspark Games on that Strike Blazinger to see where it stands today. It looks like the project has gone a hiatus since October 2019 with no updates. It looks fantastic and hope it still comes out.
@@cameroonya1 What controller are you using? Make sure the input type matches. I use a Dualshock 4, but I have to emulate a 360 pad to get rumble. You can set the intensity manually in the mod.
Night striker was my absolute fave as an 8 yr old. I used to go to this arcade that had the full car cabinet. I would sit in it all day and just day dream. It bummed me out that after a short whil,e they turned it off and pushed it behind all the other arcade machines I would always stare at it between machines and on my way out as long as that arcade remained open.
I'm glad that you covered Castle of Illusion, Dave and I agree that the remake unfortunately did not got a physical release, SEGA really needs to release it physically, so I'll have it in my Mickey Mouse collection.
Always enjoyed every GameSack episode. A suggestion for new future episodes how bout an episode on Disney games past to present day covering all consoles. Just a suggestion is all.
I always think that I'll just skip through the 30 minute video in order to save time, but then I always end up watching the whole video anyway since I can't click away.
4:08 "Why yes, it was programmed in Europe" - implying that European games are bad, after having JUST said Outrun 2006 was the best in the series, which was also programmed in Europe.
You guys are awesome. Thanks for the great stuff and the education I got today about Shovel Knight, I've never heard of it, but now I'm gonna have to look for it
Now that I am replaying Fantasy Life on my 3ds the first thing I noticed in the After Credits was the background music. Now I have to watch that bit again for the dialogue XD
I hate it when I'm riding my motorcycle down the road and i get the "shields low" warning light. Those repair shops charge an arm and a leg to fix the plasma shields that are a stock part of every motorcycle you find on the side of the road and steal.
I remember that Fantasia game, I rented it from Blockbuster after loving Castle of Illusion. I used the Game Genie to beat it after so many failures, it made invulnerability actually cause Mickey to fall for a LONG time if he went down a death pit, though he eventually stopped if you aimed for solid ground after enough loops. This game, besides being bad, does NOT even have ending credits! It crashed RIGHT after the poorly-animated handshake with the Conductor and for the longest time I thought the Game Genie bugged out the ending credits. Nope, it really was THAT badly made.
"X is bad because I suck at it." Sounds like Dave. The Plague Knight campaing, just as the character, is based aroud experimentation and finding out your favorite Bomb, Case and Fuse combo for yourself. Plague is an alchemist, he's supposed to feel the way he does.
I've played Fantasia, and I agree with everything that you said about it. It bothers me because it looks like it should easily be a great little platformer, but they somehow managed to screw it up. It would be a great choice for a remake.
eh Dave.. regarding digital copies, get an external USB3.0 hard drive and store them there, that way you can always keep playing them even IF sony shuts down their servers.
Fantasia for genesis is alot more shitty than they could show.. my parents made me buy it instead of pit fighter because my brother was little then.. anyways try it if you wanna
Hey guys, Thanks for the great episode! :) I know it's not a physical release, but you can also get the "Castle of Illusion" remake on Steam. Not exactly future proof either, but at least you could install it on another machine in future.
Don't worry Joe, I get you. 😙 Great episode guys. I love these comparing and contrasting episodes especially when they fall into the same game series. Awesome job! And uh, when will we see best/worst 5 scree games?
-I did see Space Harrier in 1985. And I did think it looked cool. I still think it looks cool. -The sliding/drifting in Out Run Coast to Coast isn't particularly appealing to me. I'd prefer handling like the original Out Run. -I love Claudia Black's deep Australian voice! -Plague Knight's campaign ended up being my favorite. I got used to how he controlled rather quickly. I also didn't think I had to go into the menu too often. I do agree that it could be an issue in games like that. The complaints you expressed on that are definitely valid, they just didn't bother me. Spectre Knight's game is probably my least favorite, but I liked it a lot anyway. Joe needs to catch up on all things Shovel Knight. Also, it looks like "King of Cards" got pushed back a bit. -Another fun episode. I enjoyed watching.

I could see doing it for developers. but idk how much blame we can really put on the publishers, some i'm sure

That song with the lady singing on the Outrun 2006 is the best song of the game
By far the best thing about getting off work @ 2AM on Saturday nights 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Can't get enough of Game Sack videos . I have been binge watching the whole series for the last few weeks and sharing with my friends like crazy .
You must have lost a ton of friends.
