1st year for electric start was 65, A 69 was a shovelhead not a pan. The 69 was the last year of the generator bottom end.

My brother in law has a late model Street Glide® and was always bugging me to ride my decked out '72 FLHP.
I told him it would ride and handle like a shot up, crippled B17 bomber trying to make it back to the airfield on one engine, and would require his full attention to ride it, especially with the stock push/pull throttle setup on it.
When he finally got up the nerve, he rode it around the block and brought it back.
He was white in the face and asked me how I'd survived riding it for the past 35yrs.
They don't make em like they used to.
    The bikes or the men.

In true Harley-Davidson style, strip off about 3 thousand dollars of accessories and charge more money. It’s a beautiful bike but I wouldn’t pay more than 22k for it. Maybe they’ll also offer a ‘57 Sporty, hopefully priced more affordable.

On the bike height: it shouldn't be a problem. I'm 5'11"with a 32 inseam and I ride a 2009 Road King Police bike with the air bladder seat. I'm sitting as high as that bike and I have no trouble controlling it or handling it. Then again, my slow speed skills are excellent, but honestly, everyone should be working on their slow speed skills!

Great video! We bought #411 and #1182. I ordered a new seat bracket, which I am re-engineering to bring the seat to the rear an inch and drop it 1.5 to 2". Might have to make an extension for the seat rails or just remake them altogether...but it will be done. Need to get a little lower without modifying the suspension.

Hey Warren. Any luck with the new bracket and lowering it? First I put Legend shocks on the back to lower it but it didnt work. I am 5’8” and I had to put a lower reg harley touring seat. Did you get the bracket? Did it work? Any help would be great. Dont bother changing to new shocks esp air ride shocks from Harley. it doesnt work. I could have saved $1500 not having those Legend shocks installed Thanks Rich

Yesterday I bought the original from 1971 with the first Late Shovelhead engine, it is not a replica :-)
BTW: The sound of the original is way better than the replica and can’t be copied;-)

You guys should really bone up on your history and do your homework before you post a video. As mentioned before 69 would be a Shovelhead not a Pan Head. First year for electric start was 65. Also the predecessor to the Electra Glide was the Duo Glide not the Hydraglide. The 49 Hydraglide was a hard tail with hydraulic front forks . The Duo Glide replaced it in 1958 adding adding rear suspension. The Electra Glide added electric start in 1965. Cool bike though...and that's coming from a Triumph guy 😉

It's a beautiful bike, but unfortunately that's all it is. All looks and no substance. The one improvement they could and should have made over the 1969 model they didn't. It uses the M8 engine, so it has virtually none of that traditional Harley feel. Very Japanese like in the way it feels. You said it was smooth, and it is. WAY too smooth. Harleys are supposed to shake, a lot, and the M8 doesn't. Boring. Very boring. You want smooth, buy a Goldwing. And that brings up the next problem (and there are plenty) It's WAY too quiet. Harleys are not suppose to be quiet. They are supposed to be loud, sound and feel like riding a jackhammer, and have that wonderful loping idle. This thing might as well be electric, like the Deadwire. Again, if that is what you want, buy a Goldwing or Japanese touring cruiser, like the Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero. It's more than $10K less than the Harley, and more reliable.
You mentioned that batwing fairing, and I do love the look of it. From the front. It's absolutely hideous from the back. Get rid of the stereo, navigation system, and especially that horrible center screen. Nothing nostalgic about that, it just looks trashy, and drives the price up. Music on a Harley is supposed to come from the exhaust.
The one VERY important thing that Harley should have done is upgrade the tires to tubeless. Anybody who seriously rides a touring bike knows better than to get far from home with tube type tires. When you have a flat, and you will, there is absolutely no way to fix it on the road. It's tow truck time. Hopefully you have a really good road service plan and are within range of cell phone service. There is simply no excuse why anything but an off road only dirt bike should have tube type tires in 2021. It is very easy to build wire spoke wheels for tubeless tires.
My last gripe is the price. There is simply nothing about this bike to justify the $30K price tag, plus the several thousand $$$ Harley dealers will stick on in fees and additional dealer markup. This is a parts bin special. Very few new parts needed to be made to build this bike. It's an Electra Glide standard with some police bike parts and a nice paint job. It should cost about $10K less.
Yes, Harley will have no problem selling 1500 of these, based on looks alone. You can sell a few of anything. There are people out there with the money who want what appears to be a vintage Harley. But that beauty is only skin deep. Which is fine if all you are going to do is sit there and look at it. But if you are not going to get the Harley sound and feel, why pay for it?

When I do run the original big white buddy seat with the chrome rail on it, I have to just hang my right leg over the bike so I can touch the ground with my left foot when I come to a stop.

This is funny. This bike is beautiful. I had a 69 flh with the 2 up white buddy seat. Unfortunately ,I'm 5"9 220. Its got the same issue my 69 had. Seat is to high for me. Even right now I own a 72 flh, had it 16 years now. Buddy seat is on s shelf in my garage. A mustang seat sits on the frame now.Height difference is about 4 inches. I'd buy this bike,if it was available, and the seat height was lower. Because if I can't adjust it,I can't even ride it.I don't see passenger footpegs? I guess its just s solo seat. Can't give rides to the chick's. Thats not good.

Hope I can get a seat that will make it work and have the seat the cover change to keep that black & white color scheme.
