I have that pattern and I made the vest out of black and silver glittery fabric for something festive to wear to a Christmas Party with a black turtle neck sweater and black leggins. It was perfect. The pattern is one of my favorites. You did a great job on yours. It's perfect! I made mine in a Medium which I usually wear a Large and it turned out great!
Thank you so much! Your version sounds gorgeous! I'm kind of glad to know that I'm not the only one who found this pattern to run quite large. I'm making a note on the pattern to size down if/when I make again. I so appreciate your sweet comment and hope you have a great weekend!
Hi Angela ☺ Lovely chat, and I really like how the fabric on the vest drapes! So elegant 😘 To answer your question, I don't use patterns I have to fuddle with 😆 ..... or fuddle very much anyway. Life's too short! 😆 Except for costumes. I expect a certain amount of fun fuddling (love that word - it's fun 😘) The culottes fabric is beautiful!
I love it as a vest. It looks very nice on you! I commented in your other video just today, telling you that I just took a sewing class at Joann using this pattern. The teacher warned us that it is very large. She had me make a "small" and I am normally am a size large or sometimes even x-large (41 inch bust). The small fits me great! We made the long-sleeve version (D) and she had us do the sleeve differently. Instead of the "set in" method described, I don't know what she called it, but we pinned the sleeves at the top onto the top of the armsye and pinned it all in. Then we sewed the sleeve seam and the side seam in one fell swope. It's hard to describe.
Thank you so much! I did see your other message and I greatly appreciate you sharing your experience. How fun to do this project in a class. ☺️ Having a teacher there to help with the tricky spots is such a blessing. I don’t think either of the Joanns near me offers classes, but I do remember taking quilting classes when I first started quilting and it was great.
I have a Butterick dress pattern that I have just spent the last week working on and trying to fit. I think I stitched and unstitched the muslin at least 5 times. At this point I have decided to scrap this project and choose another dress pattern to try. I need/want to make a dress for a wedding I am attending in June. I think the back of your vest looks great - not baggy at all.
Hi there! Thank you so much for your kind comment. I hear ya on projects that just need to be scrapped. Sometimes there's only so much we can do and the smart choice is saying goodbye after we've given it our all. Have you chosen a new pattern yet?
Angela, I like the cardigan. It fits well. The back looks fine to me.
Thanks so much, Vanessa! 💕
