What I really like about Waxahatchee is that she may have started out in the Punk scene but she has really grown into a very cross-generational songwriter. She has fans in their teens all the way through to people probably older than her parents. She's not a fake, she's the real deal. Someone can listen to her stuff and really like it no matter how old they are, and THAT is the sign of a real songwriter. I really like her and look forward to following her career.
My parents liked some of The Beatles music, but they were not of The Beatles generation. They liked some of Bob Dylan's stuff, but they were not of his generation either. You see true arts cuts to the heart of emotion and reason, and anyone can relate to those things no matter their age. So young kids loved The Beatles, and much older people loved The Beatles too. I like this girl because God has given her something that allows her to reach everyone, not just a small portion of the human race, but everyone.
Gives me Be Good Tanyas vibes, in the best way. I have been living inside this song for a few days running and it is very much like nestling in that wee teepee of sticks.
It was so nice to see to see her smile, but then I recognized that beautiful smile, and that's when everything turned sad. I even cried. Katie's got talent. Can't wait for the album!
I think the video represents the fears many women have that either the one they love will leave them or that the world will tear the two of them apart... The rats tearing down the makeshift shelter represent the world and she keeps falling asleep and dreaming the same sorrowful dream over and over again.

I love the visuals. Been one of my favorite songs by Katie since she was playing great thunder stuff back in the day.
