    SOLIDWORKS includes three integrated Motion solvers for creating videos and animations in assemblies. Animation and Basic Motion are included in every license of SOLIDWORKS, and Motion Analysis is available with SOLIDWORKS Premium or any Simulation license. This tutorial series will help you understand the basic skills to get started even if you have never created animations before. Videos are broken down by topic for easy searching.     does anybody know why motion analysis might not be an option for me? its not showing on the drop down

      Motion Simulation is an add-in, go to Tools > Add-ins and turn on the Motion add-in to get that option to display.

    wow, what a great tutorial! thank you! :) Question - is it possible to simulate two magnets attaching to each other? does motion analysis support it?

      It should be possible to create a force that uses an equation to adjust the force value based on the gap distance between two objects. It will take a bit of work to setup, but it should give you a result similar to magnetic forces.
