- A Belfast man, who steals cars for a living, dreams of retiring to Barcelona. Suddenly he finds himself in conflict with a crazed gangster, who desires the first man's girl friend. The two decide to settle the situation with a race run with 12 of their friends. The trick is that they have to steal the cars for the race.

So they were chased by the military because they illegally crossed the Southern Irish border?
The checkpoints were still there at some places. I'm from Dundalk but I can't remember ever crossing through a checkpoint on my trips to newry and I'm driving since 2001. When I was younger before the good Friday agreement we didn't have a car so rarely crossed unless by bus so I don't really remember. I say in the small towns with smaller roads you would have still had some up though.
